I like my surgeon. He has lots of experience. He has a good bedside manner. He also is certified by the ASBS (American Society for Baritric Surgeons. His staff is wonderful. The hospital seems really great. I would recommend him to anyone. If you're self pay (like me) he had FIXED costs worked out with the hospital so you know what you have to have upfront.. this includes complications while in hospital!
Incidentally if I didn't like my surgeon or thought I had a bad experience I would not under any circumstance candy coat it to avoid "a libel" suit.. that's just silly. Freedom of speech.. HELLO!! If it's factual based on your experience share it! This is our LIVES we're talking about!
I had my first appointment with Dr. Pilcher July 14.
I found his office on the internet while researching this type of surgery. On of the major reasons I chose him was first, location, location, location. Living in Round Rock Texas and being single I needed to find a place that would not be difficult to drive back and forth two. Second I was very impressed with all the information they have on the internet. Very informative.
My impression of Dr. Pilcher is he is very kind and direct. He did not mind me interupting him every few minutes with questions or comments. I liked the fact that he was straight with his answers. Didn't pull any punches. Was willing to tell you like it was even if he thought you wouldn't like the answer. I really appreciate that about him.
His office staff is very kind and friendly. I look forward to working with them in the future as I progress with my care.
First impression is great. I don't believe that we change over time.
I went to my appointment to see Dr. Pilcher today and he was very informative and friendly. He was very up front on what things could happen as a result of the surgery, good and bad. I have several co-morbid conditions and we went a head and set the date of surgery for January 11, 2000. What a wonderful way to start the New Year!! I will keep you all posted..Janice Paige
PRE with a date of 01-11-00
Well had to change my date to MARCH 30, 2000!
My surgeon is one of the very best in field. Dr. Pilcher is very concerned about your pain and that it is under control, he is an excellent surgeon as well as a caring individual....I would recommend him to anyone who is serious about weight loss surgery! His office staff is very professional and caring as well. There is an aftercare program each month in San Antonio as well...I went there for over 6 months to listen, view paitents and get a real feel of this surgery - I am VERY pleased! I would give the good Docter a rating of 10+
He is a wonderful and compassionate man. I felt completely at ease with him and felt 100% confident in his abilities. He was very thorough covering the risks of surgery. The handouts were comprehensive and easy to understand, and his website has a wealth of WLS information. After care is stressed, and his staff is always ready to answer any question via the phone or the Internet. I would give him and his staff a most favorable rating.
Pilcher seemed very caring and cool first time I met him. I've had no change of mind since.Office staff the best, very helpful.
No negitives on Dr. or staff at this time.
Future patients need to know that Plicher
wants you to be 100% sure of what your doing. Find out all you can before seeing him. Ask about anything you dont understand.
After care is very important and highly emphasized. They have a support group and a strutured after care program. All risks of surgery are out right on the table. Pilher
wants you to know everything about this life changing surgery. Overall and so far I would say I'm glad Pilcher is my Doctor. I'm in good hands. I dont know about surgical cometence or bedside mammer yet. I will update. Please know that this is just my
opinion. Pilcher my not be the right Doctor for you. Find out all you can and see more then one Doctor until you feel safe.
My first impression of Dr. Pilcher was that he was very nice. He spent alot of time with my husband and myself explaining everything to us. This was good for my husband because he had questions and then he felt comfortable with the doctor afterwards. Dr. Pilcher was happy to see that I had done allot of research on my own, I went with a 3 inch notebook 1/2 full of things I had found. Allot of my information came from his web site, but I had stuff from other sites also.
Since that first meeting I have come to realize that Dr. Pilcher is very caring and kind, he gives me all the time and attention I need. He wants to make sure that I am okay and truly cares about me has his patient.
The staff at his office is great. They will take the time to answer any questions you have no matter how many times you call. One of the nurses had the surgery herself and is a great source of information.
The have long term aftercare. There is a support group that meets once a month and you can meet other people that have been through this. You get allot of support that way.
I would rate Dr Pilcher very highly. I feel he is an very fine surgon and has a very caring bedside mannor. I recommed him to anyone looking for a doctor to do this surgery.
I have met with Dr. Pilcher only once. He was very thorough. He took a lot of time answering my questions. I didn't feel like he had anything else to do but explain the surgery to me, and listen to me. He's a great listener. I felt extrememly comfortable with him.
His office staff is very friendly and efficient. I didn't feel rushed with them either. I have called them a few times and they have taken the time to find my chart and talk with me.
This is my personal experience with Dr. Pilcher and his staff. I think he is the right doctor for me. But, I would strongly suggest that anyone interested in WLS should do research about the doctors available in their area (or outside their area) and read all that they can on the procedures available.
