I am 2 1/2 months post op. Dr. Alexander is the BEST. He is light years ahead of most of the other surgeons doing this in DFW. He has done well over 1,500 operations, and has perfected the problems of the past WLS methods. A local Dallas TV station featured a WLS surgeon who was supposed to be doing something new -- they should have done the feature on Dr. Alexander. The report focused on the type of incision this doctor used -- Dr. A's is better, more efficient and smaller, by far. More important than the incision, however, are the results of the surgery, the recovery, how easy it is to assimilate back into a normal life. This is what Dr. Alexander is all about. While I was in the hospital, I was amazed at his "system" -- so many people, doctors, nurses, viewed and reviewed every detail of my chart and ME. He has tiny, skilled hands, so my scar is not quite 4 inches long. Wonderful bedside manner. His office staff are very attentive, and have always answered my questions and concerns quickly and made me feel important. The aftercare is great. The monthly support groups, featuring Dr. Alexander are so informative and encouraging. He is now working on doing a FREE WLS each month, donating his time and talent!! I am very impressed and so glad that I was directed to Dr. Alexander!

My first visit was with Dr. Alexander on 2-20-03 and the wait was nearly 3 hrs but worth it, (I had been forewarned.) The doctor is a very friendly, engaging man who emphasized the positives of the surgery. He answered every question I had and sold me and my husband on the spot.(We had planned to make a decision after the consultation not during the visit.) I scheduled all my pre tests on that very day and they were all performed within 2 wks. Dr. Alexander assured me my ins. would approve the surgery because of health issues I had and the fact I was so much overweight. The office wait is the most negative thing but I find it very useful because his waiting room is full of people just like me but in different stages. Someone helps me that has been post-op longer than me and I help someone who is considering surgery. Dr. did address the risks of surgery but they are minimal compared to the advantages. I followed all of his instructions pre and post-op and everything went just as he said it would. I think he is great and I recommend Dr. Alexander to everyone that asks(and some that don't ask). He is highly skilled and he had to go out of town right after my surgery but Dr. Taylor, who assisted in my surgery, visited me every day in hospital and he was great. Everyone involved in my surgery was superior and I give credit to Dr. Alexander for that because he is the best.

First impression of Dr Alexander is positive. I have only seen him twice. My surgery is scheduled for 10/24/03. His office staff seemed to be absent, except for Ann, who called me several times to get insurance and schedules arranged. I asked him if I could go back to work immediately and he said that I could. I liked that! The literature given to me to arrange EGD and pre-op was incomplete. It lists call Barbara at RHD (I had no idea what RHD was) and call Brookhaven without any number or name to contact. I guess if I was from the area this would all have made sense to me, but as an out of towner, I was lost. The handout information needs to be reworked so that anyone (even a dope like me) can understand it, including phone numbers and contact names. Just a suggestion.

I first met Dr. Alexander in May of 2001 during my intial consultation for bariatric surgery. I won't go into detail about his bedside manner and how friendly his office staff is; although I think these points are very important and ones that Dr. Alexander and his staff excel in. I would like to speak to you as someone who is 2 years post op and has a true understanding of what is involved in each step of this entire process.

I can honestly say that I believe anyone who has the opportunity to have Dr. Alexander should take ever measure possible to have this man operate on them. In the last 24 months I have become more educated on this procedure than I had planned. So many people saw my weight lose and became tremendously interested in what I had done. I saw many of them go to Dr. Alexander and I saw those who, for whatever reason (usually geographic), did not. Several of those who had not seen Dr. Alexander had had problems with the procedure. Being the more experienced "member of the club", I was their mentor and soon found I had to gather information on things I had no experience with such as dumping, leakage, vomiting, cold sweats and so on. These were not things I had experienced post op and I had no idea how to comfort those who had come across these complications. I talked to those who had gone through the surgery with Dr. Alexander and I found that they had little to no experience with these types of complications. None of us had experienced the kind of negative side effects the others were now victim to. This completely puzzled me and had me digging for answers. . . what I discovered was simple; a doctor who had perfected his proceure and offered his patients the kind of post operative experience that everyone is entitled to. Dr. Alexander is truly different, his procedure is his own and no one can duplicate it. When you go to visit him, ask him about his post operative complications, inquire about the number of fatalities he's had, ask him how many people have come back after having surgery displeased with their results. . . you know what you'll hear? Nothing! Nothing but a wonderful surgeon who is changing lives and helping people get to where they want to be in the best, safest way possible! I wish you all the opporunity to visit Dr. Alexander. Who knows, maybe you'll be like me . . . 2 years post op and at my ideal height and weight, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds! Take the next step with courage and confidence!

I was very impressed with Dr. Alexander. He as usual from what I have read was running late. But then he did spend over an hour with me and my husband. He described all the pro's and con's of the surgery and even drew pictures of the procedure for my husband. It has been a year since I have seen Dr. Alexander but yet he is not making me pay another office visit or even come in before he scheduled my surgery. And I only had to wait 3 weeks for a date. The office staff turnover in Dr. A's office is some what disturbing but as long as the service stays the same I guess it is not a big deal. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. A to anyone who asks. For that matter to anyone who doesn't ask.

At first i was trying to get approved with Dr. Barzune. I started in 01/02/03. i was denied by 02/03/03 his office didn't even notify me!!!! I then started my 2nd, 3rd levels of appeals with no help from his office staff. They were very rude and appeared as if I didn't even matter. although I must say Cindy in his office was sweet and concerned, just she worked the front desk and didn't deal with the referrals. After 6 mos of struggling with the ins. co. myself I finally got an approval
that was on 07/03/03. I called Dr. B's office they said they couldn't get me in til after my referral would be out of date! Imagine that. I'm sure Dr. Barzune is a great doctor but his office staff has turned me the other way.

Someone recommended Dr.alexander to me and on 7/8/03 with the help of aetna rep Diana we called Dr. Alexanders office and got an appt for the following thurs. (7/10/03) I was so excited. I went to the appt...I guess I was a lucky one i only had to wait 30 mins) he was so nice, informative, caring, took as much time as needed for me to ask questions. since we already had the approval we have scheduled surg for 8/8/03!!!!!!!!! hurray , THANK YOU JESUS !!!HIS OFFICE STAFF HAVE BEEN GREAT, COURTEIOUS,AND VERY HELPFUL. This i believe will be a wonderfl exprience. I WILL recommend Dr. Alexander to everyone who can use his services. pray for me on 8/8/03.

I WAS VERY NERVOUS ABOUT MY FIRST VISIT. DR ALEXANDER WAS WONDERFULL. HE IS VERY UPFRONT AND WILL ARGUE WITH YOU WHEN HE KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU. HE IS VERY THUROUGH WITH PRE SURGICAL REQUIREMENTS, PSYCH.CONSULT, STRESS TEST,EGD,AND FINALLY PRESURGICAL WORKUPS.

HE IS A VERY ENCOURAGING DOCTOR WHO SHOWS CONCERN AND EMPATHY,(NO JUDGING , SAME WITH HIS STAFF)GREAT MAN AS WELL AS PHYSICIAN.

WHAT I LEAST LIKE ABOUT USING DR ALEXANDER IS THE TIME YOU HAVE TO SIT IN HIS WAITING ROOM. BUT BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY ITS ALL WORTH IT AND I WILL TRY TO KEEP A SMILE.

LIKE ANY MEDICAL PROCEEDURE ,KEEP UP WITH EVERYTHING, APPROVALS, RESUTS OF TEST, ANYTHING NEEDED BEFORE SURGERY, PRE HOSP ADMIT ETC.......

DR ALEXANDER IS NOT THE ONLY PHYSICIAN ON HIS TEAM , HE HAS DOCTORS THAT SEE YOU WHILE YOU ARE IN THE HOSPITAL , CARDIOLOGISTS,FAMILY CARE,ENDOCRINOLOGISTS ETC..... THEY ARE ALL VERY KIND AND UNDERSTANDING .

WE ALL KNOW THAT SOME PHYSICIANS ARE ONLY OUT FOR THE MONEY (GIVE ME ALL THIS OUTRAGIOUS AMOUNT PRIOR TO SURGERY) DR ALEXANDER DOES AMAZING THINGS TO HELP YOU OBTAIN YOUR SURGERY, HE IS NOT ALL MONEY.

I WOULD RECOMEND DR ALEXANDER TO ANYONE THAT ASKES, I AM A NURSE AND I HAVE DELT WITH SOME DOCTORS AND WITHOUT A FLINCH I WOULD RECOMEND DR ALEXANDER.
