Well, Dr Jeffrey Lord - what can I say.. :-))rnWhen I had my first meeting with him at the Weight Loss Presentation at the Sacred Heart Hospital I was so impressed by his confidence and reputation, and decided from that point I trusted him to perform the surgery on me.rnMy initial appointment with him went well, although I did feel it was rather rushed, and in my mind had expected it would be a bit longer than the time I had. However, he was having an extra busy day.rnPre-op appointment went well, and I was pleased that he had rememberd me from the brief appointment 5 months prior.rnI had no doubts at all about him performing the surgery, and now that it has been done I know I picked the best guy to do it. His bedside manner was good and he came by to see me a few times and he was very pleased with the way everything went.rnI an now 4 weeks post-op and down 33 pounds. I had cause to go back to see Dr Lord last week with what turned out to be a rare 'Stitch Abscess' in one of the incisions - he was so vey nice and I saw yet another very genuine, sincere and comical side of him that I had not noticed before.rnNow I feel absolutely fine, apart from the obvious soreness in places but would go through it all again if I had to.... rnSo KUDOS to Dr Lord, all his staff and the special Bariatric Unit at The Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola for giving me the best care possible.
Dr. Lord and all of his staff are wonderful, very nice and does not make you feel uncomfortable at all. I just love all of them, I feel like I have known them forever. They are very organized and everything so far has ran very smooth. The staff is great and know what they are doing. So far there is nothing I do not like. That he really cares about the well being of his patients. He does emphasize aftercare demands it. Yes they do have an aftercare program. Surgery is a very risky surgery just like anyother. You have to do this on your own. The surgery does not make you loose weight, you doing what you are told will make you loose weight. Overall I would give them a 100!!!! Both are wonderful!!! I am very glad that I picked Dr. Lord as my surgeon. I have been looking for about 3 years now and have heard from several people about him. So I went online to the hospital website and found him and started looking into it. Went to the seminar and support group meetings and I was hooked. I knew then this is what I wanted to do. I honestly do not have anything negative to say. The only thing it took me 3 months to get in to see him because he is so booked up. but it is worth the wait if you can. I am honestly thankful that I made the right decision. He has never lost a patient and is board certified. I have heard horror stories about drs. loosing patients or not doing the surgery correct. Dr. Lord actually fixes other doctors mess ups!! He gives you all the information up from. He wants you to know everything about the surgery before you get started.
great--freindly--very knowlegable. Great bed-side manner. All staff are friendly and will help you in anyway. This is a true program with a notebook full of info for you and your family to educate your self on the varied procedures. Web-sites are listed--staff--picture with names and numbers---if you don't know something about what is expected it is your fault for not asking or reading. I would not hesitate to recommend him to more of my friends (than I already have). My husband has have zero problems and we are both extremly happy with the care and follow-up we've recieved.---Wayne and Sue Godwin
The biggest kicker for me is the fact that Dr. Lord believes in this surgery so much that he operated on his mother! I keep thinking about that when people learn I will be having surgery soon and they all tell me horror stories of people that they know.rnrnI realize that there are serious risks involved, but I believe in Dr. Lord's abilities and he has a first class staff surrounding him. They all make you feel welcome at the office.
Very confident in his skills. His staff are there to support you and assist you through the entire process (gotta love Ruth!). I do not know that there is anything that I like \"least\" but I will say he is much different in a 1 to 1 scenario - great sense of humor! He is very clear about his expectations of you - you must follow the guidelines and you will win the battle. He is to the point and clear about risks and outcomes of either surgery and he wants you to be informed. I never planned on having surgery until the lap band was introduced. I went to him to discuss and now I am having bypass - something I would never have considered with another surgeon.rnrn08/30/07 - I am now 1 week post-op and would like to add that Dr. Lord and his partner, Dr. Friedman have excellent bedside manners. They were concerned that I was feeling okay and that everything was as I expected. The bariatric ward staff - one word - AWESOME! I work in the medical field and know what to expect and they far exceeded those expectations. Thanks to Paula, Desere, Lisa, etc. for giving me the best care from the heart!
First impression of my surgeon was excellent!rnMy impression of him has only improved.rnThe office staff are all very proffessional.rnI love everything about my surgeon.rnFuture pt's of Dr. Jeffery Lord should know that you are in very safe hands. Not once was I concerned with the care he would be giving me.rnHe provides wonderful aftercare.rnA very structured aftercare program is provided.rnThe risks of my surgery were outweighed by the benefits.rnI would rate Jeff Lord #1 in his field.rnBoth surgical competence and bedside manner are both important to me. Bedside manner is definitely a big plus and would certainly play a role in my decision making on who would be performing my surgery.
Dr. Lord was the 4th bariatric surgeon that I interviewed. I knew immediately that he was \"finally\" the one that I trusted. Being an operating room registered nurse, made me extremely picky, and prone to ask more questions than the average consumer. My impression did not change over time, except for the better. His staff is very knowledgeable and very professional, always there for me. Aftercare is very important in maintaining a healthy weight loss. From the very beginning Dr. Lord and his staff emphasized the importance of following up with them post op and following all the rules. Dr. Lord has a structured after care program, and he addresses the risk of surgery up front by showing statistics. Dr. Lord is the best, in the entire southeast, if not the entire country. His surgical abilities, bedside manner, and genuine concern for your overall health, and wellbeing makes him an ANGEL in my eyes. Dr. Lord Will you marry me? While I do respect the disclaimer tha no one can be 100% and get 100% positive reviews in all aspects, I do have to say that in this case, it does rate a 100%. Like I said, being an operating room nurse for 23 years, and interviewing 3 previous bariatric surgeons prior to Dr. Lord, I feel I can make the judgement of 100%. I am also sure his other patients feel the same way.
I believe that Dr. Lord is one of the best doctors in his field. When I first went to one of his seminars I really liked what he said and he was very confident about what he does. His staff is wonderful and always there to answer any questions you have. I would suggest if there is anyone in Northwest Florida interested in having WLS that they contact Dr. Lord.
