Dr. Lord has a great bedside manner. He is very confident and easy going and easy to talk to. I had great confidence in him and was so happy with the surgery and his care. He is encouraging after the surgery and takes care to fill the lap band slowly so you get used to the restriction. He has a structured aftercare program with support meetings and makes sure that you have regular appts during the first year. I think the only complaint I have is I did an endoscopy 2 months prior to surgery and apparently I had a small haital hernia. I did not find out until my pre op appt one week before surgery. He seemed surprised that no one called me. Thankfully he said he was sure he could fix it but finding out a week before surgery made me nervous. But other than that, it was great experience and I would highly highly recommend Dr. Lord to anyone.
My first impression of Dr. Lord was that he was goofy. He was funny and down to earth. That put me at ease. He didnt talk down to me or use big huge terms that I couldnt understand. His office staff is very nice and informative. Most of them have had the WLS themselves. A few of them are a bit stand off-ish and impersonal but I think that is because they see so many people all the time. What I like least about him is his time spent with the patient. He is in a constant rush and I felt rushed. Even in the hospital before and after my surgery, he was rushing. This man is and did change my life forever and I have spent maybe a total of 20 minutes one on one time with him. I would like to see that improve. I would rate him extremely competent with a well organized program with well organized people in charge of it. Maybe that is why he doesnt feel the need to really interact with you so much. He did address all risks and I totally trusted him to do my surgery. But I do feel that surgical competence and bedside manner are both important. He does have a good bedside manner, it is just that he doesnt allow himself to use it. But over all, I think he is Grade A!!!!
Dr. Lord and his staff are WONDERFUL. I was desperate and he was willing to help. On Dec. 10 2007 we went in with eyes wide open, took the risk, a leap of Faith. I came through with out complications, Thank you Dr. Lord for taking a risk that no other Doctor would chance, one that will forever change my life.
Dr. Jeffrey Lord has been wonderful throughout this 9 month process. His office staff has been friendly and some, specifically Ruth, went above and beyond to allow this surgery to happen. Dr. Lord is so thorough in details that there is no excuse why anyone doesn't know exactly what is going to happen at each step in the process. rnrnDr. Lord has a very structured after care program. He encourages us to continue to lose wait but if we don't he has NO problem telling us about it.rnrnI would strongly recommend anyone interested in surgery to go to his meeting and follow up with a support meeting and an appointment with him.rnrnDr. Lord did come in every morning and evening to see me. The only negative I would say is that he doesn't spend as much time with you that I would like. He has so many patients I understand but the nurses can answer all my questions or they call him immediately.
My first and present impression of Dr. Lord is that he is very professional, friendly, and \"down to earth\". From the beginning, he and his staff have thoroughly explained every concept of the procedure, nutrition, risks, etc. My experience in the hospital at Sacred Heart was also very positive. If I rated Dr. Lord, his staff, and the hospital, they would all be ranked at the top. My experience has been very positive at this point and I would recommend Dr. Lord to anyone who might ask for my opinion.
I first met Dr. Lord at a seminar in Destin, FL. He was very confident - a trait I like in someone who is going to cut holes in my body. I felt a great deal of confidence in hi from the start and that hasn't changed.rnrnHis office staff is amazing. The pre-op appointments were interesting and challenging and required me to really think about and prepare for the surgery. Jan Carlo has been fantastic to work with. She has personal experience with the lap band and even pre-answered questions before I could ask them. The care in the hospital was great, too. I so appreciated the care from my day nurse Suzie, and the countless times by night nurse assisted me getting up and down to use the bathroom. All the hospital staff was friendly and helpful.rnrnAftercare gets a lot of emphasis. I have a schedule of what to expect over the next several weeks, and then each year. rnrnThere was slight confusion in some of the process (i.e. I started with Dr. Friedman, but had surgery from Dr. Lord - not a problem but a change nonetheless, sometimes appointment times altered without prior notice). I chalk this up to being a busy practice. rnrnOverall, I would highly recommend Dr. Lord and his staff to anyone considering weight loss surgery.
Dr. Jeffrey Lord is not just a wonderful doctor and masterful surgeon. He is also obviously an expert business administrator, with his establishment and oversight of the Sacred Heart Institute for Surgical Weight Loss, and its wonderful staff. Dr. Lord has a great personality. He is approachable and straight-forward while being totally professional. He, his Institute, and his hospital facilities are a \"class act.\" A-ONE in every aspect! His staff reflect his positive attributes and standards. Anyone considering any type of bariatric surgery, should have the capabilities and experience of their surgeon on the TOP of their priority list. No matter how good your own personal intentions, and no matter how hard you work on the patient-side of the spectrum, if your surgeon \"botches\" the job...you're in trouble. A \"botched\" job will be the last thing on your mind with Dr. Lord in control. I'm excited about his post-op program and care. This upcoming year is going to be quite an experience as I lose weight and as my health improves. And, it's comforting to know I have a full staff to help me any way they can. As a patient of Dr. Lord's, you receive a very complete and thorough notebook of important information. I use my notebook daily. Dr. Lord successfully performed my laparoscopic RNY procedure on 7/25/06. I am now at home, resting and recuperating...making progress every day and amazed at how good I feel. I have commented to many that there were two Lord's in my operating room that day....Dr. Jeffrey Lord and Jesus Christ our Lord. Thank you to both!!!!
When I first met dr. lord I was nervous and intimidated, but he made me feel comfortable right away. He didnt make me feel fat or look at me like \"OH YEAH YOU NEED SURGERY\" He made me feel like it was my choice and that if i wasent happy with myself that WLS was the way to go. At first I wanted to have the lap band but he said that if I were his sister he would do that gastric bypass on me, bc I would be happier with the outcome. I havent had my surgery yet, but so far on my journey Dr. Lord and his office have been 100% on top of everything!
