1) DR. GENAW IS AWESOME HE'S COCKY BUT CONFIDENT & I LIKE THAT. HE IS A MULTITALENTED SURGEON IN HIS FIELD & BEYOND.
2) I HAVE TOTAL FAITH IN DR. GENAW I AM IN THE BEST OF HANDS @ HENRY FORD.
3) DR. GENAWS' STAFF IS AWESOME,THEY CARE ABOUT US AS OBESE PATIENCE. WE'RE NOT JUST ANOTHER NUMBER @ HENRY FORD. WE ARE TREATED WITH KINDNESS & DIGNITY, WE ARE LIKE FAMILY THERE.
4) THERE IS NOTHING TO DISLIKE ABOUT DR. GENAW HE'S ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.
5) THAT DR. GENAW IS "THE BEST" IN HIS FIELD. HE & DR. CARLIN TEAM UP @ TIMES & DO FOLLOW UPS ON EACH OTHERS PATIENCE IF NEED BE...LOL
"TEAM WORK"
6) HE IS STRICT HE EXPECTS YOU TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. IF YOU SMOKE "QUIT" DR. GENAW "WILL NOT" OPPERATE ON YOU IF YOU DON'T STOP SMOKING FOR @ LEAST 2 MONTHS PRIOR TO YOUR SURGERY DATE. HE BELIEVES' THAT IF YOUR GOING TO PAY TO "KILL YOURSELF BY SMOKING" THEN WHY SHOULD HE ATTEMPT TO SAVE YOUR LIFE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS TRUE.
7) YES THERE IS A STUCTURED AFTERCARE PROGRAM.
8) IN ORDER TO PREVENT COMPLICATIONS I WAS REQUIRED TO QUIT SMOKING. ALSO LOSE 15 POUNDS & GO THROUGH A LOT OF TESTING BEFORE I COULD EVEN CONSIDER HAVING SURGERY. LET ALONE GET A SURGERY DATE.
9) HE IS THE BEST IN MY EYES.
10) WHAT CAN I SAY DR. GENAW HAS IT ALL GOING ON. HE IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB. THANKS DOC.
ALL MY LOVE,RESPECT & ADMIRATION TO YOU.
LOVE & HUGS ROBIN AKA WHOOPI XOXOXOXOX
HE WAS VERY NICE VERY CASUAL AND LAYED BACK.
I TRUSTED HIM RIGHT FROM THE START.
VERY NICE TO TALK TO AND VERY UNDERSTANDING.
NOTHING
HE REALLY KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. I FELT LIKE I WAS TALKING TO A VERY CAPABLE PERSON. I COULD TALK TO HIM ABOUT ANYTHING. AND I DID HAVE A LIST TO GO THROUGH. HE ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS.
HE EMPHASIZED BEFORE AND AFTER CARE. HE HAS A VERY STRUCTURED PROGRAM. I FEEL LIKE IT ISN'T JUST HAVING THE SURGERY AND SAYING GOOD BYE TO THE PROGRAM. THEREEE IS A LOT OF SUPPORT THERE.
HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE RISKS AND TO DO EVERYTHING THAT HE RECOMENDED SO IT WOULD CUT DOWN ON RISK.
I WOULD RATE HIM AS JUST BEING THE BEST. I'M SO THANKFUL THAT HE DID THE SURGERY.
BOTH ARE WONDERFUL. WHEN YOU HAVE ANAPPT. WITH HIM HE NEVER MAKES ME FEEL LIKE HE'S IN A HURRY. HE TAKES HIS TIME AND ALWAYS ANSWERS ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS A TAKES CARE OF ANYTHING THAT YOU MIGHT NEED.
My first impression was not good of Dr G. He had just cancelled 2 surgeries because they had gained weight. He was quite upset.
He has learned how to smile, but I find it difficult to be my usual fun-loving self with him. I work in hospitals and have always known a surgeon for years, and his background, before I'd let him operate.
The nurses are wonderful in the office--the medical assisstants have an attitude.
Dr Genaw places emphasis on structured care both before and after surgery--he gives you a goal to meet with both exercise and weight.
He explains the surgery well, including the risks.
I think we will make a wonderful health care team--my health, his care for now!
Dr Genaw,
I was a bit intimidated by him at first. He's cocky but than again most surgeons are.
Not usafe cocky just to make this clear.
He has a great sense of humour.
HE takes time to call you if there are any changes in blood work and also answers emails promptly. He will tell it like it is no bologna(hhhhmmmm bologna)
There isn't anything that I didn't like about him. He even has a great bedside manner.
The team that works with him, the ones I know of. Wanda, Annette, Dennis and
Dr Carlin are all very nice and always there to answer any of your questions. With aftercare if you follow the program you won't have any problems. Yes you could have stoma problems and complications but that has nothing to do with him. Its your body and its reaction. The program is very structured and easy to follow. It is all provided to you in a binder. But if you eat a cookie and dump they aren't going to feel sorry for you, to be honest neither will I..............LOL
I'm not going to rate him but I will tell you that I have never had surgery before in my life, and he made me feel safe and well cared for. Even the nurses that care for you after on the Bariatrics unit make you feel very safe nad almost loved really.
The last question surgical competence and bedside manner, both are outstanding.
I don't think that just because you have an all positive experience with your surgeon it should be suspect. This is all based on my perception of Dr Genaw. To each hi/her own. Just becasue I think he's great doesn't mean you will.
