My first impression of Dr. Genaw was that he was very friendly and caring. He also has a very funny sense of humor which I really appreciated. The day after my surgery he came in my room sat down and just talked to me and answered my questions and it felt like he was in no hurry to leave. Dr. Genaw's whole team was wonderful from Wanda to the residents to the PA's. Everyone was very kind. The HFH program has lots of support put in place so everyone has the option of support before and after surgery. The team was very knowledgable and explained all the risks and percentages of complications very clearly. Overall I would rate Dr. Genaw and his staff as excellent. I would say his sugical competence and bedside manner were both great too.

My first impression of Dr. Genaw was one of gratitude..... He is very professional and describe the procedure and all the risk involved. Everyone at the Henry Ford Health System were great and friendly.... Everyone you walked by would wish you a good day.... The aftercare program is a strict one.... Making sure you attend all your aftercare visits.... I would rate Dr. Genaw and his team with a six out of five stars..... Believe me they are the best out there...... He is also a trauma surgeon, which is a lot harder then doing a by-pass surgery so I was extremely confident in his talents...... He is a magician..... I never at any point felt any pain after surgery........

I like Dr. Genaw. He is very strict. He knows that this surgery can only be successful if the patient uses the tool properly. He has alot of good advice on eating out and exercising. He is very honest and does seem to understand obese people. He also keeps busy with other surgeries other than bariatric. Although bariatric is his primary it seems. He also states that he does all surgeries laproscopic unless impossible. And no staples he handsews I think he said. Sounds very complicated but I think that just makes him an even better surgeon. He takes the extra steps to get the best outcome for his patients. Gotta respect that.

My first impression of Dr. Genaw was that he was very direct and maybe even a bit unfeeling. I also thought he was a bit harsh with his comments. Nothing that obese people haven't been through before. My impression of him changed when I thought about his remarks and realized that he wasn't being mean but rather truthful. He had to tell me the truth. rnrnDr. Genaw's office staff or his program coordinator is the best to be had. Wanda is an amazing woman. She is caring and dedicated to helping as many people as she can. She is the one who keeps the whole process moving smoothly. rnrnI would say the thing I liked the least about Dr. Genaw is his directness and the thing I liked the most about him is his directness. He says the things you need to hear not always the things you want to hear. rnrnAftercare, my goodness we get a binder called our \"blue bari binder\" that we must carry with us to every appointment. It contains everything we need to know from the first appointment and for the rest of our lives. The aftercare is the most important part of the program. It is stressed from day one and we are responsible to know everything that is expected of us. rnrnI would rate the entire program because it all goes hand in hand. The dietician the exercise specialist, the program coordinator, the clearance physician, and the surgeons Dr. Genaw and Dr. Carlin they all get a top notch rating in my book. Without any one of these people the program would not be as good. rnrnI have to say Dr. Genaw is a knowledgeable and skillful surgeon. He is kind and caring and takes more time with a person than any doctor I have ever been to. His bedside manner is wonderful and he spent several hours talking with my husband and I while I was in the hospital. He never makes you feel rushed or that he doesn't have time for you. He takes the time. He answers all questions and then has time for teasing and joking with you as well. He makes you feel like a valuable person. rnrn

rn

Dr. Genaw is very nice, but doesn't sugar coat anything - he tells you how it is.

Dr. Genaw is a wonderful man. He is kind and has a great sense of humour. The staff at the HFH were constantly wonderful. I find that Dr. Genaw really cares about his patients. He doesn't just rush through his examinations with you. If you have questions or concerns, he is very direct with his answers.rnrnDr. Genaw interviewed me before he would consider me a candidate for surgery. I like that. He doesn't treat you like a number but as an individual and wants to make sure you are well informed as this is a life style change for the rest of your life. rnrnHe wants to know that you have support, both from friends and from family as well as the support of your referring physician who he will work closely with if needed, post-operatively. Contact information for him and his staff are given freely for any questions you have.rnrnI would give Dr. Genaw a grand rating of a 10rnrnI believe that surgical competence and bedside manner are both critical when dealing with patients. If you, as a patient, do not feel comfortable with your surgeons bedside manner, you may be anxious. Dr. Genaw talks to you like you are his best friend. He cares!!!rnrnThe only thing I warn all of you regarding Dr. Genaw is that his handshake is a killer...don't say I didn't warn you.
