About MeDr. Laker is a board certified General Surgeon and has additional post-residency training in advanced laparoscopic techniques and bariatric surgery. He is an accredited Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member of many surgical societies. Dr. Laker graduated medical school from Boston University School of Medicine with acceptance into AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society), a recognition only given to students in the top 10% of medical students across the nation. He trained in General Surgery at New York University and spent a significant amount of time at world renowned, Bellevue Hospital. An additional fellowship in robotics, advanced laparoscopy and minimally invasive bariatric surgery was completed at Hackensack University Medical Center. Despite his education and training on the east coast, Dr. Laker was born and raised in metro Detroit. Dr. Laker’s interests are in minimally invasive surgery of the abdomen. He performs a wide variety of procedures related to the abdomen. Dr. Laker has expertise in complex abdominal wall hernias, reflux disease, diseases of the gallbladder, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon. Dr. Laker recognizes the importance of a collaborative effort for complex medical/surgical issues and works together with a number of specialists to ensure the best and most appropriate management of his patients.
