James Viglianco Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I met with Dr. Viglianco of BTC on 4/22/04. He was very generous with his time and answered all my questions! (I brought a list)He even drew what he would be doing to me on a dry erase board. He seemed very knowledgable about the surgery and put me at ease from the beginning. I also met with Amy (Dr. Vig's) assistant. She was very nice as well and has also had the surgery herself. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and had had the surgery as well. I finally met with Frank, the patient coordinator, and he has had the surgery also!
My only complaint was my consultation was scheduled for 9am. I got there at 8:45 and did not get out til noon! I had to wait a lot in between seeing the staff.

Dr. Viglianco is very caring. The office staff is very nice. I haven't had my surgery yet it won't be until June 7, 2004. I will be able to answer more questions after my surgery.
Well I had my surgery. Dr. Vig was great.
He is the kindest doctor I have ever met. How many doctor's do you know that will give you a hug? Dr. Vig has very good surgical competence and bedside manner. Excellent.

My first impression of him was that he is a personable, caring, easy to talk to man.

My impression did not change over time.

His office staff is very competent and caring.

I can not think of anything I liked least of him.
Future patients should know that he is a busy man, and they may have to wait on a waiting list, but it is worth it.

He does have a structured aftercare program and it is at the Barix Clinics.
Yes, he didaddress the risks of surgery.

I would rate him a 10 out of 10, excellent.

His surgical competence and his bedside manner were both great.

Dr. Vig is a kind, warm, and caring individual. He listens to what you say, and understands. He is not jaded, and truly gives the impression he wants to help. His office staff is wonderful as well. Many of them have had the surgery. There is nothing I don't like about him. Even 2 years post op he takes lots of time to talk to me at check-ups and never checks his watch as if he's in a hurry. He takes time to make sure you understand the choice you're making. He's not just rushing you through as a money-making opportunity. He is a 10 out of 10, and I recommend him to everyone with which I speak. He has a great deal of training and experience with the procedure, and his bedside manner is wonderful. He sent me a flower when I had the surgery, and personally called me after I returned home. He comes in the room with make-up on the shoulder of his Dr. coat because he hugs every patient. He is not overwhelming, just kind and caring.

Dr. Viglianco was very nice. He made me feel very comfortable..he seems very knowledgable about what he does , which made me feel much better. He answered alot of questions I and my husbnd had. His office staff was nice...the one thing I disliked was the fact that in Groveport Ohio they make you walk a pretty lengthy way to get to the consult room and I have a bad knee due to Rheumatoid arthritis and its very difficult to walk any great distances and not get winded...when I finally arrived to the area where they check your B.P mine was way high due to the long and difficult walk I had just done...so they checked me again and now im waiting on a letter from my regular doctor to let them know my B. P is ok for surgery...other than that...the office visit went good!

My surgeon will be Dr. Vig at the BTC in Groveport Ohio. I met him on my first consult and I felt very comfortable with him. I have always had a problem discussing my weight issues, but I felt that I could open up with him, maybe it’s the way he looked at me… that he understood and he was there to help. A friend’s brother and his wife referred me to Dr. Vig, and they both were very happy with him. I have complete confidence in Dr. Vig.

He seemed like a "regular" person. No uppitdy attitude. ( Which is what I felt with the first local surgeon I meant with. He made me feel like he was better than the group that had met him.)

Dr. Vic answered my questions and gave me the answers in lanugage I could understand.

Dr. Vig, as we call him, has been wonderful. He put me at ease from the first time I met him. Each time I visit his office he has a big hug for me and has been so supportive. He never seems to be in a hurry and always answers all my questions. I would recommend him to anyone thinking about the surgery.

My meeting with Dr. Viglianco went well. BTC is a very busy place, that was apparent from the minute I walked in the door, but everyone seemed friendly. Also, its almost impossible to get a hold of someone by phone...but be patient, they WILL call you back :o)
