My first impression of Dr. Vig was that he was a very kind-hearted Dr. He didn't act arrogant at all. He was very compassionate.
The more I see Dr. Vig. the more I like him. He is a very personable surgeon. I can't say anything negative about him.
Dr. Vig's aftercare program is with like all BTC surgeons. They have you come back frequently within the first year & make sure everything is going well. They have a nutritionist who follows you on what you've been eating & they teach you the best way to get in your needed protein.
I could not have asked for better treatment than what BTC gave me. They are the best.
I had my initial consultation with Dr.Vig in August of last year. Unfortunately, it took until May of this year to get the surgery scheduled. At first, I did not feel entirely comfortable with him, but he seemed surgically competent and that was the most important thing to me. However, I was very, very wrong. Dr. Vig is not only an experienced surgeon, but he also took a lot more time with me while I was in the hospital. Overall, I can not say how impressed I am with the doctors and staff at BTC!
Dr. Vig was very informative and he made me feel very comfortable without pushing the surgery on me. He was honest about the risks and possible complications. It is difficult because you need to trust someone with your life based on a first impression. Thankfully this site provides ample information and opinions about the doctors. The staff has been helpful and informative so far.

Dr. Viglianco and his team did a wonderful job with my surgery (07/16/02) and I can't thank them enough!

I had my initial consultation today. I was very comfortable with the doctor as well as with the ladies that I dealt with. Things were thoroughly explained (although obesityhelp.com gave me most of the info beforehand).
I have only had one meeting so far with Dr. Viglianco, and the experience was extremely useful for myself and my wife. BTC got the info they needed, and we got info we needed. The people we saw at the office were helpful and friendly with us. My impression of the Doctor was one of complete confidence. The man seemed to know what he was talking about, did not talk down to us, and was able to answer questions and make us understand what we wanted to know. He let us know what could go wrong, without scaring us, and also let us know what would go right with this surgery. Dr. V and BTC seem to have a very complete after care program and have given me very good information to use after my surgery. I haven't had my surgery yet, I am scheduled for June 10, but as of now I would recommend Dr. V and BTC to anyone looking into WLS. My only complaint was that the computers were having problems and it took a little longer to get the info uploaded into the system. 06/04/02 I have just had this brought to my attention from a very nice lady at Chambersburg hospital in Pa. BTC's internist said I needed a dobutamine stress test, and it was only 2 weeks before my scheduled surgery date. I had to do some serious scrambling and phone tag to find someplace where this could happen in time. The folks at Chambersburg hospital were very nice and helpful to me and were playing phone tag with the staff at BTC. Umfortunately, someone on the staff at BTC was very rude to A very nice lady at Chambersburg. Who in turn had to get her boss involved because she got so upset. I don't know if maybe the folks at BTC were exceptionally busy or what. But I don't believe that is any excuse to be rude to another professional. I was just lucky that the folks at Chambersburg didn't give up and I was able to get the test done, and the results rushed to BTC.
First impression was great. Seemed very caring. Answered all my questions. Looked me in the eye and actually hugged me before I left. So far all of the staff has been helpful. Takes a while to get a return call. I am still pre-op but as of now I would rate him a 10. I will let you know if that changes after surgery! :-)
Now that I am 5 months post-op and doing well...I can truly say that he is my HERO! He has given me a chance at a life I had never thought I would have. Simply heaven sent. I will never ever forget him!
My first impression of Dr.Viglianco was that he is a quiet, but caring person. He did not make my husband or I feel pushed, and answered every question that we had, and we had quite a few! I have only had the one consult with him, but I will keep my postings on him up-to-date. The office staff at the BTC in Groveport was exellent! We spoke with two different ladies that have had the surgery themselves and they answered alot of questions and shared their expierences with us. They even had before and after pictures.
As far as discussing aftercare and risks of the surgery, they all explained this VERY well, and alot of things were even repeated twice by the Dr.,then by the nurses!
I would recommend Dr.Vig.to anyone considering this surg. The only negative thing I have to say is that my appt.was scheduled for 1:00pm and I didn't get out of there until about 4:45pm! granted, the Dr. and nurses spent alot of time with us, but the bulk of the time was waiting. My husband almost walked out. But the hospitality made up for the waiting time! I will keep you posted.
I found Dr. Viglianco to be very personable from the first time I met him. He is a highly competent surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner - a combination that is rare, I might add! The facilities - Bariatric Care Center of Ohio (Groveport) and the private hospital in Grove City cater completely to the morbidly obese ... my skinny friends were uncomfortable in their big roomie chairs (I just hated that for them!!) ha ha
During my inpatient stay, the nurses and entire staff were personable, compassionate and professional. My family was SO impressed with the facility and the whole experience.
I chose BTC over a local facility even though they were out of my insurance network because I was comfortable with their vast experience in WLS.
I am 6-weeks post op today and feel great ... so far, so good!
