My first impression of Dr. Kane was neutral. He seemed knowledgeable and his "bedside" manner was ok, not teriffic, but ok/ He answered all my questions and sent me off for all the tests. He was very thorough in going over the risks and benefits of the surgery, as well as my personal history and how it would affect the surgery.

Over time I found him to be caring and considerate. He is often harried and then his bedside manners slip some, but overall I never got the impression that he was a slice 'em, dice 'em and drop 'em kinda surgeon.

His office /nursing staff have always been very helpful and accomodating. When I had some problems medcially it was always taken seriously and handled promptly.

I least like his schedule, it seems a bit rushed on some visits (usually ordinary follow-up), and I often feel hurried to get all my questions answered. I was also not impressed with the aftercare nutritional information..... most is immediate post op and doesn't deal as much with the rest of our lives...... there isn't a lot of good info out there for that and they need improvement in this area.

Future patients should know he is a very good surgeon. He, as well as the other people in his practice, are caring, exprienced, well trained and very knowledgable. They know how to handle the complications that can arise from surgery as well as the co-morbidities we bring to the surgery. If you're having complications (as can happen with ANY surgery) they are good at finding the problem and resolving it.

The aftercare is pretty good, but they are improving it daily. That is what I like about this group, they are always trying to make it better, whether it is surgical technique, behaviour modification, support, nutrition or fitness, they keep trying to do it better.

Yes, he does have a structured aftercare program, and you can go as long as you feel a need for it.

Overall I would grade him a B+ in general care and an A+ in surgical care.

He was very nice. My impression of him didn't change one bit.

The staff was very helpful. I loved everything about Dr. Kane Jr.

Other patients should know about him. I would use Dr. Kane again in a heartbeat.

He is very much into aftercare. He strongly encourages it. THey have a very structured aftercare program in place.

Dr. Kane Jr. was very upfront about the risk of this surgery. Overall on a scale from 1 - 10, Dr. Kane Jr. would receive a 15 from me. Awesome Dr.

Both his surgical competency and bedside manner are great.

I was very impressed with Dr. Kane, Jr. He was appeared to be first and foremost interested in what my expectations and knowledge of WLS was. He explained the risks and the benefits of the surgery. Dr. Kane asked me as well as my husband if either of us had any questions or concerns outside of what he'd already explained. Although it was late and he appeared tired, he was patient and very attentive to what we were asking him. I didn't feel as though I was being "rushed", as I have with many other physicians. This gave me a since of comfort and ease with Dr. Kane which was very important to me. If you are looking for professionalism and a since of compassion, consider Dr. Kane, Jr.

Really liked him.Great bedside manner

I met with him a month and a half ago for an initial consultation. He was VERY personable. He wanted to stress that this is not a decision made lightly and that it IS lifelong. He made it clear all the risks of having this, or any other surgery. A couple weeks prior to meeting with him, I attended an infomational meeting with his father whom is also part of the team. He also seemed caring and compassionate. I am VERY comfortable with my decision for surgical team!

Dr. Kane Jr. is, in a word ...wonderful. He is associated with an incredible group of physicians who are not only incredibly skilled, but are kind and caring people. I met each and every doctor in his practice. Each was warm, always greeting you with a smile, and patient, more than willing to answer each and every question. I really can't say enough about them.
The office staff is always encouraging, sympathetic, and knowledgeable. I have always felt welcomed and well cared for during a visit.
The aftercare experienced post surgery was great. Consistent follow up visits are standard.
Dr. Kane and his associates are very open, honest, and factual about the procedure and addresses all possible risks of the surgery.
My overall rating of Dr. Kane on a scale of 1-10 is an 11. His skill and knowledge are a 10 but his warm bedside manner puts him off the chart.
The only thing I was disappointed in was some of the nursing staff at the hospital.

I have not met him yet. I have heard so many good things that I know he is who I am going to go with. As soon as I do meet him, I will update this page. 7/18/2001 - I went to a seminar last Saturday and got to meet Dr. Kane. I was very, very much impressed. I got the paperwork I needed to send to my insurance company. I am just praying that it goes through. If I was not convinced I wanted the surgery, I am now. The seminar was very informative.

I really liked and trusted Dr Kane. Before I was even allowed to make an appointment to see him, they have a seminar, to go over and explain wht will happen. If you decided to go thourgh with it, then you fill out the papper work and once you are approved through the insurance, you make an appointment to see him. Once I finnaly had my appointment. He took the time to personally go over everything that I would have to do and then answered any of my concerns. Dr Kane is also very big on after care, I saw him 1 week after I was out of the hopital, then 4weeks later, then 6 weeks later. I not sure after tht I haven't reach my 6 week appointment yet. But I have called before for concerns of mine during those in between times and he has always responded quickly. I would highly suggest going thourgh him and his associates.

Dr.Kane Sr has been performing weight loss surgery for 20 years. He works with his son and a team to educate patients before surgery. I have great trust in him and his practice.

He is available whenever I call. He will call back to answer any questions. His staff at the hospital were very well informed and made my stay very comfortable.

I like the seminar he gives before surgery and he requires a great deal of testing. I felt extremely easy about having the surgery after I had all my medical test done.

I give his entire practice a 10. Anyone thinking of having this surgery should have a complete exam including sleep test, heart check first.
