Very professional and informative. Took time to do a thorough physical evaluation of me for surgery. Office staff very good. Requires pre and post support classes, which I think is essential.

I dont have Kane but his partner Dr.Versman was a very tentative dr, he listened to all my questions. The staff at the suburban surgical care was excellent! He is one of the newest members to Dr Kane's office. I rate him a 10!

Had consultation.
He was complete and answered all questions. The appointment began 1 1/2 hours late. When asking the staff how late he was running and how long I would be waiting, they could not answer--quite frustrating. When asking about testing, aftercare, etc--he kept referring that Weight for Life has the answers and would call me or I should contact them. Dr. Kane Jr. fully addressed the surgery, the risks and discomfort and that I would go home with tubes. He was forward with all of those things, not to leave any information out. He did though, look at his watch to make sure he did not spend too much time with me, saying he has a lot of patients waiting.

I like Dr. Kane very much. He is a very caring person. He doesn't talk that much but will answer all your questions.

I had a few complications after my surgery and he treated me very well.

I can go on and on. Very very good Doc.!!!!

First impression was very good. He patiently listened to and answered all my questions. He seemed very knowledgeable and explained the risks. My visit with him was about 45 min. long so at this time I cannot really comment on Dr. Kane's skills or bedside manner. At this point I am going on alot of trust and faith. I particularly liked the late office hours his practice offers, great for working people. His staff was polite and helpful. Dr. Kane is part of the "Weight For Life" group. Aftercare is a big part of the total program. Dr. Kane and his program is very comprehensive. I've had to have other tests, consultation with other Doctors and support meetings before I was given my date.

Dr.Kane was very friendly and informative. Now that I have had the surgery and all has gone well--he is still consciencious on my well-being and continued weight loss. I can't say enough good about Dr. Kane Jr.

I actually met with Dr James Kane, Sr. He is a pleasant, congenial and skilled surgeon. I work in the same hospital that Dr Kane does his surgery at and he has come with the highest recommendations and is held in the highest regard by fellow Dr's. He spent enough time with me to answer any questions that I had, explained the entire procedure to me and put me at ease. I am excited to have him as my surgeon. The staff in the office is nothing less than stellar. They are quick to answer questions and do their very best to schedule appontments according to your specific needs.
3/15/03 I have had a bad experience with Dr Kane, Jr and I am not at all ready to recomnmend him for surgery at this time. I have experienced a post op complication and Dr Kane Jr treated me rudely and spoke to me with such hostility. I still appreciate Dr Kane Sr and I find him to be wonderful, but in general, I am not happy with this group.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. KANE JR WAS AT A MEETING OR SEMINAR, AND I THOUGHT THIS IS THE GUY I WANT TO DO THIS FOR ME.
THEN WHEN I HAD MY OFFICE VISIT WITH HIM, I TOOK MY DAD AND IT WAS REALLY LATE LIKE 8:30PM SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT BUT I FELT, LIKE HE WAS A LITTLE SHORT AND SARCASTIC. I FROZE BECAUSE I FELT A LITTLE INTIMIDATED, SO WHEN HE ASKED ME IF I HAD ANY QUESTIONS I COULD NOT THINK!
THE OFFICE STAFF WAS GREAT!

My first impression of Dr Kane Jr was a good one. He seemed very friendly and caring. I have been through my Lap Rny with him and my Gallbladder removal. I am now having my Panni done on March 18th. I have grown to really care about him. I know that I can trust him with my life. He is a wonderful doctor.

2/1/02 (This review is about another doctor at BTC which I am no longer going to use as my physician....please read below for comments on Dr. Kane) My impression of Dr. Lane was that he was very professional. He took the time to answer the many questions I had. I was very prepared prior to my consultation so I had many things to ask. He was happy to answer my questions.

The staff at BTC was very nice. I did wait about an hour past my appointment time before I was called though.

Dr. Lane was very honest when I asked him questions about the risks of surgery. Of course, everyone is different....but he went through the risks, then detailed what he and BTC does to help you prevent risks so that you have a sucessful operation.

I haven't had surgery yet....actually, I am still deciding. Dr. Lane said that BTC is about 6 months away from being able to do the surgery Laproscopically. At this point...i don't know if I'm going to search for a physician that will do it laproscopically. If anyone can recommend someone in MI...please email me!

2/21/02--Well, today I spoke to someone I met through obesity.com on the phone. What a great help she was to me....thank you!

Also, I've decided that I do not want to have an open RNY through BTC because I was told I'm a perfect candidate for the Lap surgery (which BTS doesn't do yet) I would much rather not have as much pain, or have that big scar if I can have it done Laproscopically. Plus, you are moving around a lot faster...which is important for not getting a blood clot (so I'm told).

I'm looking forward to getting an appointment. I'll update more after I see my new doctor.

3/24/02--Well....I went to a required seminar yesterday and got that out of the way. I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know, but had to pay for plane ticket and hotel to fly out of state for this required seminar anyway. It's a technicality...but an expensive one.

Got to see Dr. Kane. He does the procedure Laproscopically, and I believe he is the doctor I want to go with. He is very thorough....I can tell by the explanation of the process he follows. He's been doing this for years, and so has his father, so I feel very comfortable with him.

Now, I need to send in my completed paperwork. My situation is unusual though....I've already gotten an approval letter from my insurance company....so I'm ahead of the game. Just need to hear from Dr. Kane's office to find out what kind of presurgery labs I need. :) I'll update more later.

2/18/03--Yes, it's been a long while since I've updated my page. I had my surgery (Lap RNY) on 6/18/02. I'm doing well, although I haven't been able to exercise very much due to an injury. As of today, I have now lost 100lbs, and feel like a totally different person. My clothes are fitting me so much better, and I'm starting to get a lot of compliments on my weight loss. I'm so grateful for this surgery.
