Scheduled for surgery in July. Dr. Kane, Sr. is a skilled surgeon with years of experience in bariatric surgery. He has a well developed postop support and care program. The support group meets every 2 weeks and has about 25 attendees with preops, fresh postops and those out anywhere from weeks to about 1 yr. or more. Ginny, the person who handles the insurance aspects of the program, is stellar. I sought approval with 3 different doctors almost simultaneously and she was the most thorough and complete. Approval with both my primary and secondary insurances were within about 4-6 weeks. One thing that surprised me was a detailed discussion on the surgical procedure I had with Dr. Kane. He does an RNY as advertised, however, his technique more closely resembles a Fobi pouch. A Fobi pouch is an RNY with a nickel-sized silastic ring around the outside of the new pouch. It is larger than the pouch and is stitched in place. He said he does this to minimize the pouch's ability to stretch over time and help prevent weight regain. One negative, I waited about an hour after my appt. time to be seen. I was told by a postop who was there that this was quite typical. Overall, his information session, support group and office staff rated well on my list.

Dr. Kane Sr operated on me, assisted by his son, Dr. Kane Jr. Both are so competent and reassuring; I cannot say enough good things about either of them! I was seen by one or both of them for each day of my hospital stay, and Dr. Kane Sr. has called me a few times since I've been home just to see how I'm doing. I just had my staples taken out, and he assured me that I could take as much time off work as I felt comfortable with. Both of these surgeons are compassionate and experienced. I put my life in their hands, and I am doing remarkably well. I would recommend them to anyone. Additionally, the nursing staff at Alexian Brothers Medical Center is absolutely top rate!

Very warm and supportive. He has many years experience in WLS and answered all of my questions. I would recommend him highly.

My first impression of Dr. Kane was good.
He is very knowledgable and personable. He
took alot of time and made sure I understood
everything to the point of drawing the pro-
cedure on paper and explaining it step by
step. His staff was very nice. When I was
denied by my ins. they refered me to a lady
that guided me through writing an appeal
letter. Dr. Kane is big on pre care as well
as after care. There are pre op and post op
meetings at the hospital where Dr. does sur-
gery. I've talked to other doctors when I
first found out about this surgery and Dr.
Kane and his whole program is head and
shoulders above anyone else I've talked to.
You can tell he has decades of experience in
doing this type of surgery. On a scale of 1
to 10 I'd rate him a 10. It makes a big dif-
ferense in taking a step as big as this if
you like and trust your surgeon.

Dr Kanes, Sr. & Jr. are very experienced at gastric bypass surgeries and have 2 assistants. I was every impressed from the first information I received about them from the internet to their seminar and all went uneventful from that date of Seminar 11/6 to having Open RNY Surgery 12/17.
Their before and aftercare treatment programs are professional and expected for surgical patients. I believe these doctors have given me a new lease on life.

Dr. Kane is completely AWESOME!!! I showed up an hour late because I got lost and he was absolutely wonderful. He waited to meet with me and he went over all of my questions -- the questions I remebered of course. I felt so comfortable with him that I can't wait for the surgery.

Dr Kane was extremely knowledgeable, confident and really seemed to care about obesity. He has alot of experience in the field and many successes. He says he only lost one patient in 30 years practicing between his father and himself. His staff has been efficient and kind so far. I wish I could spend more time getting to know him personally.

Dr. Kane has a psychologist led support group that meets for aftercare. He also has a pulmonologist and dietician who works on his team. I felt confident that if there were any medical complications after the surgery, that he would do the surgery for those as well.

I would rate him as top of the line in healthcare in my area.
