I haven't met him yet. I do have an appointment for April 1. His receptionist was very nice and explained everything I would need to help make sure my insurance would approve it! I changed my doctor today. Nothing against Dr. Jones it was just that it would take so much time and I guess I am so ready since I have made my decision to have this surgery, and he has a long waiting list. I fould Dr. Babineau isn't as filled up and he usully performs the surgery pretty quick once you have approval from the insurance company. My first consult is going to be Jan 29!Dr. Babineau is great and so is his staff. He gave us lots of information and told us point blank about this surgery. I was very excited to get my surgery date and I have complete trust in him!
I went on January 2, 2003 with great expectations than not only would this be a new year, but I would evolve into a new me. I was lucky. I heard about Dr. Hugh and followed through with the consutation. He sat with 8 of us and although the procedure is probably automatic to him, his explaination was new and fresh for us to understand. He was friendly and knowledgeable and I felt confident that I was in good hands. His hands are what caught my eye. I asked him if he played piano, but he said no.
He has an unbelievable staff that generates a feeling of family and comraderie and for someone without family that is a special bonus!
I just got word Monday that my surgery is scheduled for February 14....Valentines Day. I like to think that I am giving myself the best gift ever (with Dr. Hugh and his staff's help) and that gift is a future.
Dr. Babineau and his staff are excellent. I have had my initial visit. Dr. Babineau taught 6 pt and a few family members about this procedure using a model. After the very informative class, he took us to the back one at a time and we were able to speak with him one on one. I had a whole couple of pages to ask him of questions and concerns that I had. He just answered each one very professionally and then took my picture. He tells it like it is and pulls no punches. He stresses support, especially for afterwards. If you follow his advice you should reduce any potential complications post op.
From my research he has surgical competence and a great bedside manner.
I had my first meeting with Dr. B on 1-17-03. I had read so many postive things about his office and himself that I had no worries. He is definately how I imagined and his office is wonderful also! Everyone is soo ready to help you in any way possible! Seeing as I do not have insurance, I will be paying out of pocket so now I just wait until I come up with all the money!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR BEING SO CURTIOUS DR B AND HIS STAFF!!!
My first impression of him was he was well
informed, he seemed a little shy, yet he answered any and all questions I had. I really like him.
Dr. Babineau's staff was absolutly the most
wonderfull, down to earth people I have met
in a doctor's office. I have called them on
numerous occasions and they were so helpfull
they did not get tired of talking to me, they
made me fell so comfortable and at ease. I
just really can't say enough good things
about them.
Dr. Babineau was upfront about the risk of
surgery, he informed us of the reality of this procedure. He never tried to sugercoat
anything. I liked that, it did'nt seem like a
salespitch.
I really liked Dr. Babineau. He is very serious and up front about everything. He answered all of my questions before I got a chance to ask them. His staff was very friendly and helpful. He provided a packet of information that was thorough and very detailed which I liked very much. He was up front about the risks involved and provided a great deal of statistics which I also appreciated.
I have only met Dr. Babineau one time, that was my initial consultation with him. He held a group session, in which he explained "everything". Then he met each of us individually, for a 1 on 1. He was easy to talk to. He seemed to be willing to help, as if I was really sick and needed a doctor to take care of me. His office staff is super, they have sent off for my insurance approval, I talked to them today and we haven't heard anything. So I will now call te insurance company and see what he hold up is. I have already referred 2 prospects to him. I know that all of his staff will help me in anyway they can, if unable they will get me the help I need. I know that they CARE about me>
What a great doctor. He seems really nice and talks to you on your level. I had my consult with him on Jan. 2, 2003 and I was very impressed. He really knows his stuff. I hope my insurance lets him do the surgery.
His office staff is very friendly also. I highly recommend him to other considering WLS. His handouts are great too. A+ all the way!!!
