MY IMPRESSION OF DR JUAREZ WAS NOT TO GOOD AT FIRST, IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS IN A RUSH AND JUST WANTED TO GET ME OUT OF HIS OFFICE AS QUICK AS HE COULD. HOWEVER, I WENT TO THE SEMINAR AFTER MY CONSULTATION AND LIKED HIM A WHOLE LOT MORE, HE HAD TIME NOT ONLY FOR ME BUT FOR ALL THE OTHERS THAT WERE THERE, HE SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, KNEW HIS STUFF AND BELEIVE OR NOT HE WAS REALLY PATIENT WITH ALL OF US THERE. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING VERY WELL INCLUDING THE RISKS AND BENIFITS OF THIS SURGERY
HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS REALLY NICE AND VERY HELPFUL AND HAVE BEEN EVERY TIME I SPEAK TO THEM ON THE PHONE.
I FEEL PRETTY CONFIDENT OF HIM BEING MY SURGEON, I HAVE FAITH AND TRUST IN HIM THAT
EVERYTHING WILL TURN OUT FINE, I FEEL I AM IN VERY GOOD HANDS.
INIM THAT EVERYTHING WILL TURN OUT FINE
I liked Dr. Juarex when I met him. He seems to really know what he is doing. His office staff is wonderful. They did everything they could to get the surgery approved. There is a structured after care program but I will unfortunately not be able to participate because I live in Tucson and He is in Phoenix. I have heard of a support group in Tucson that I will investigate soon.
I met Dr. Juarez at the seminar a few years back and my first impression was that he was a kind and sincere man who was dedicated to helping obese people become healthier people. I recently went to see him again to see about getting the surgery done. He put me at ease when he came in the exam room and answered all my questions. I felt he was rushed and busy but he did answer everything and I was fine with that. He seemed to me to be a quiet, knowledgeable and sincere Doctor who truly wants to help me. I have dealt with so many Doctors over my lifetime and I just felt he was the first one to understand my plight with this weight. I am trusting him to do this surgery for me.
My mother had Dr. Juarez as a surgeon, and well because she was already comfrontable with him and loved what he did for her I decided to go with him. I went to his seminar and he was really funny and helpful. He tried to explain what I was in for to the best of his ablity. I didn't talk to him very long, long enough for him, to look at my stomach, and say, yes, I qualify for the surgery and it will have to be open because of my size, which was perfectly fine, because i didn't care either way, open or lap. I don't know much about him, but I will sure update as I get futher with my WLS journey.
My first impression of Dr. Juarez was that he is extremelly knowledgeable and an expert in this surgery. I liked him from the beginning. He seemed tounderstand where I was coming from (I wanted to have surgery ASAP because the holidays are fast approaching) He continues to be a likeable guy. His office staff is so so. Dr. Juarez personally doesn't emphasize aftercare but the program at St. Lukes is doing well at it. Surgical competence is more important than bedside manner.
I'd done my research on Dr. Juarez ahead of time so I knew some things about him. I figured it was better than going in knowing nothing about him. I'd read many good things about him and a few bad, however, none of the bad reasons seemed like any reason to not think he was a perfectly capable surgeon. Most reported negatively about things such as him being very rushed or no bedside manner. Considering the surgery and how sought after it has become, what bariatric surgeon isn't rushed these days? (Of course we don't want this in the operating room) ;> I, however, did not feel rushed by him and liked his sense of humor. He explained the surgery process completely, even though I'd researched wls in depth. He answered all of my questions and made me feel like he was in control and believed he could help me achieve my goal with the surgery. I thank God for the skill he has given Dr. Juarez. I don't expect to see him again until the day of surgery, but I am confidant in my decision to have him as my surgeon. His office staff was very nice and helpful. *patsontheback* of all the girls in his office. What a trying job for all of them too in dealing with those of us who are desperate for this opportunity. I can't join in with anyone who had anything bad to say about Dr. Juarez or his staff. I understand that every experience will be different to some degree though. I'm glad mine was a good one with him so far. I believe that a lot of obtaining this surgery is our responsibility. Know what you need to help yourself ahead of time if possible. Be persistant...and be as patient as possible. *best wishes to all*
Dr. Juarez was great, I had origianlly gone to a seminar for Dr. Zahn, but switched because I wanted the procedure done Lap. So since I did not meet Juarez at a seminar, our first meeting was at the initial consult on July 2, 2002. I waited for that apt. since early March, so it felt good to be a step closer. He was really nice, and said lap should be no problem. My suggestion to anyone making an appointment with Juarez, is to make it for first thing in the morning. I was scheduled the first patient so I did not have to go through a long wait in the waiting room. (I have heard it can be quite a wait in there....) I have mostly dealt with Angelia, and she has been nothing short of wonderful! It took until July 31st (my apt. was july 2nd) to get all the paperwork to insurance, the transcriber was on vacation. I was not approved by insurance until first week in Sept. 2002. I now have a surgery date of Feb 2nd. 2003. The whole process will have taken 11 months from waiting for seminar to surgery date! So far I am very happy with Dr. Juarez, as well as his really really hard working pressed for time staff. I just wish this journey would take less time.
