Dr. Zorn had been recommended to me by two former patients. I was very happy with my consult with Dr. Zorn. He answering all my questions, and was very informative. He covered all the risks, as well as the importance of aftercare. I liked his quiet way and his dry sense of humor! Of course, I've come up with 40 other questions after I left the office, but many of those have been answered by this website!! I will update again after my surgery. * * * *
All right, now that the surgery is over, I have to say I will be putting Dr. Zorn on a pedistal just a bit under the one for God!! He was FABULOUS! Answered all my ??'s in the hospital, sat down in my room and took all the time I wanted going over things. He is conservative in his approach, and I like that (even tho' I'd like to be eating stuff with more substance right now!!). I would highly recommend him to absolutely ANYONE! I figured I'd put up with not-so-hot bedside manner for surgical competance...but with Dr. Zorn I didn't have to...he had both!!
I had a very good vibe when I met Dr. Zorn. First impressions and vibes are very important to me. Since I had my surgery pretty far away from where I live, I had only met him twice before my actual surgery, and that didn't worry me at all. He seemed very professional and extremely nice. The morning of surgery, when I was wheeled into the operating room, he was in high spirits and had the same sense of humor he had before which made me feel so comfortable. After surgery, when he was doing his rounds to check up on me, he listened to all my 50,000 questions and answered each and every one of them. I felt as if I was his one and only patient that day. He totally took the time I needed for him to listen. He is just great!!
The staff over at Pacific Bariactrics was so sweet. They didn't look at you funny because you're overweight, which I was expecting since they were all so skinny and cute..hehe
The hospital staff over at Mercy Scripps was so incredibly sweet and patient. I can honestly say I did not have one bad experience with any of the staff there. They were also great.
Oh, one negative thing I can say about my hospital stay was in the middle of the night, which seems to have been the only time this would happen of course, the alarm would go off LOUDLY indicating that my IV was empty or something like that, and at times it did take the nurses a long time to respond, which was really annoying, but at the same time, I knew I wasnt the only patient there and that they did get busy. So I guess I do have a negative thing to say about the hospital experience.
I meet him for the first time at my consultation but I had listened to him at a WLS seminar before the consult.
I was impressed with him at the seminar because of his knowledge and willingnes to answer any question in depth. I requested Dr. Zorn when I made my consult appointment.
At my consult, I thought he was easy to talk to and had a very understanding nature. He explained how my WLS would be done and seemed very confident in the procedure. My husband was present during the exam and consult and also felt very confident with Dr. Zorn.
His office staff was very upbeat and friendly. I felt very relaxed working with them.
I really have no negative comments at this point.
Dr. Zorn is a wonderful doctor. I have been so impressed with his demeanor and skills. I would recomend him to anyone who has the opportunity to take advantage of his gift. The office staff is so nice and friendly it is unreal. I am not used to being treated as human by the medical profession. I can not think of any thing that I dislike he is so supportive. Dr. Zorn makes sure you get averything you need and encourages you to call if you have any questions. Dr. Zorn also ensures you are aware of every risk and ways to avoid them. He is a 9! No one is perfect. He is a better at his surgical competence, I only saw hin in the hospital twice, however, I am so glad that I found him. I would recommend hin highly.
I liked his manner and his demeanor right away and I think he is just great. My impression of him has not canged he's still great. His office staff is exceptional and just as great as he is. There is nothing negative to say about him. Future patients should go to one of his seminars that is posted on the Pacific web site. He emphasize a lot on his aftercare, I'm just not priviledge to be close to his since I live in another city. They do have a aftercare program but I have to find one that is close to me, altho I will have to travel to another city for my check up with the clinic. He is very pacific about the risk of surgery and it will do you good to do a lot of research on your own also. I would rate Dr. Zorin as first rate and a caring doctor. Both is surgical competence and bedside manner is great, just fantastic.
Dr. Zorn appeared very professional and knowledgeable. At first, I felt at ease to be under the care of such a doctor. Though I did not feel a closeness that one wants to feel when placing yourself in the hands of the doctor that is going to be performing surgery on you. After the surgery, his warm, kind and truly devoted side came out. He truly cares for his patients and wants us to succeed! His staff is very friendly and helpful and they run that office in such order. I mean everything seems to just fall into place. There is nothing I really did not like about Dr. Zorn, but if I had to say something, I guess its his no nonsense, get with the program attitude. It just made me realize, I had to get with it and there was not room for not staying on track. He is stern about what must be done to keep me healthy and has given me written information for every single week and has monthly followups. Has a very structured after care program to make sure his patients are sticking to the program. He was very thorough about the risks of surgery. I give Dr. Zorn the highest rating! His surgical competence is the best! but his bedside manner sure took off once I landed on that surgical bed!
He made me nervous, but then I talked to him and thoguth he was great. Heis a straight forward man doens't joke or messs around he tells you like it is and expect you to follow through. he has a dry sense of humor but he is very nice.
His staff was great very nice, very knowledgeable and friendly.
not a lot he states in the paper work tht it is up to his patients to do the followup. I am unaware of any structure to followups.
My first impression of Dr. Zorn was he was very kind and compassionate about the reason I was there. We talked about the procedure and he showed me where all the insisions would be. He stressed the importance of loosing weight now and start changing my eating habits so after surgery it will not be such a shock. I though his office staff was very courtious to me everytime I called and were able to answer all my questions without too much delay. I went to a seminar where they address all the pros and cons of the surgery and what all the risks are and ways to prevent them.
very impressed with his knowledge and how he cared about me
My impression of Dr zorn was only enhanced each time i met with him
Office is very professional and relaxed.
The staff were high motivational and helpful would answer all my questions or find the answer and answered back promptly
Never found anything about Dr. zorn I didnt care for .
After care was up to my regular doctor as Dr. Zorn lives hundreds of miles from me.
The risk of surgery was laid on very plainly to me and addressed very matter of factly.
Dr Zorn I would recommend to those I love the most as a surgeon.
Surgical competence is always rated high to me, my life is in his hands.
Update: July 24th, 2004
What a great surgeon. I feel really great after Lap RNY. Busy guy but took time each day to see that I was OK. Was in no hurry to discharge me from hospital. Sorry but missed him at my post op appointment because I would have like to say thank you. Following his directions and feeling fine.
Dr Zorn is nice. He took 2 phone calls during my consultation which I felt was inconsiderate. He answered all my questions.
Staff was good. Front desk person munching on cheetos did not leave a great impression.
Dr Zorn asked about my excercize program and suggested that I join a gym. Which I have and at this point I like going (which surprised me) He didn't harp on my losing more before surgery but mentioned that it would be easier on both of us if I continue to lose before surgery. He told me to carefully read the aftercare booklet given to me by the front desk but didn't really discuss post surgery diet with me.
I wont visit with him until surgery. I wish we met again before surgery. I really don't feel like I KNOW him. BUT I have heard really good things about him and ultimately feel like its going to be OK.
