PB is AWESOME!! I had a few conflicts getting the date I wanted.. but I got it! Dr Zorn is superb! I first became aquainted with him at the seminar and he is even more caring once he is your surgeon! He will make you feel very reassured and confident in your decision. He heavily emphasizes using the tool to its fullest extent.. and getting into a good aftercare routine. WONDERFUL!! And by the way.. my incision is like a thin red pencil line :) Thanks Dr Zorn!!
In addition to his surgical competence, I had no problems at all) he is a very gentle, caring man with a good sense of humor. He is reasonable, realistic and straight forward in his dealings with patients and he is always very encouraging.
He works with me as a partner in this "project" and I very much appreciate that approach. He is there to help but he expects you to do your part.
There isn't anything that I can think of that I don't like about him or the care I received from him during the surgery and followups. The only negative exdperience was with the nutritionist at the hospital. She was less than helpful and not on board with the Pacific Bariatric program. In fact, I love him and I told his wife so. (She said it was OK)
As a member of Pacific Bariatrics surgical medical Group he has a structured aftercare program with scheduled followups and support group meetings and exercise group available.
Dr. Zorn is a very caring man. Very easy to talk to. Doesn't have a superior attitude. I liked him very much. Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego has been easy to deal with. They can almost always help you on your first call to them or they return calls in a very timely manner. Samantha has been very helpful with whatever questions I have. Bjefore care and aftercare are very well defined in their handbook they make you study. They also require you to have a complete understanding of the procedure and the results of the procedure by reading a 50+ page book and taking a test on it. I feel very happy with PB whole approach to this surgery. At this point I don't have any really negative feelings about this office or Dr.
Dr. Zorn was very patient during each hospital visit. When I asked him a question he answered it completly and then reassured me that all was normal. During my post op visits to his office he was equaly patient and caring.
My only complaint is the long wait in his office. Dr. Zorn and Pacific Bariatrics split up the information between them. For general questions you can usually get someone at Pacific Bariatrics right away. If your question is medical, then it goes through the surgeons staff and call backs take a little while.
I would recomend Pacific Bariatric and Dr. Zorn to anyone. They are prepared to answer questions and have lots of current written material.
I have not been to a support meeting yet, but I plan to attend this month. There are also excercise classes on week nights. I will try to update in a month or so.
Dr.Zorn seems to be very friendly. He has a great bedside manor. All the surgeons at Pacific Bariatric have a great reputation though. His assistant I met at a seminar and she is fantastic. Dr. Zorn explained to me why open is better then LAP. He said "I can see what I am doing...HAHA." No, really, he is exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. What more could I want. When I met with Dr. Zorn in person he was very friendly and helpfuul. He took his time to answer all my questions about him and his practice. I woul definitely recomend him.
