I was very impressed with Dr Chae. I had orig picked another surgeon but then heard of Dr Chae. I went to one of his info meeting and was impressed from the start. He wasn't trying to convince people to have it. He was sharing his knowledge. He was very open for questions.
I believe in him. My brother recently had his surgery with him also. If I would recommend him to my brother I would recommend him for anybody.
I found Dr. Chae on this website and met him 5/5/05. He was obviously very caring and friendly. Seemed a bit abrupt and rushed at times but took the time to answer all the questions of both my wife and myself. We then met with Kelly Elliot, the Registered Dietician. She was very friendly and caring as well and did not make me feel like a schmuck for my eating habits. That was refreshing.
Dr. Chae really outlined the detailed risks and complications possible with a revision and even had a virtual surgery he showed us on a laptop. The facility he is in is quite nice and I am hoping to get approval very soon. We went to the nutrition class (required) on 5/15 for 5 hours. It cost $150 but was necessary and well worth it. Kelly outlined the vitamin regimen and eating patters post-op. This surgery is no "magic bullet" but it sure is nice having a Dr. like Dr. Chae and his staff to help me through.
02/11/05 met with Dr Chae. I thought he was nice. A little quick to interupt me as i was asking questions, or makeing comments. Very knowledgeable, and i like the fact that he only does Weight loss surgeries. He actually trains some of the other surgeons for it.
I like Suzie, she seems very nice.
Aftercare seems very important to him.
He looks at the risks of surgery to be comparable to other surgeries, and takes the more positive side.
I loved Dr Chae!! Susie is just as wonderful. I was weighing in on the scale and Dr Chae came out and introduced himself to me. Most Drs office' you dont meet the Dr until 30 min have gone by sitting in the the small room. He was prompt and very detailed about everything. Answered all my questions honestly. My mother had the surgery about 3-4 years ago. I wish that she would have seen him. I would recommend him to any one! I rate him a 10+
My first opinion of Dr. Chae was that he was a soft spoken man with a lot of compasion. I cried thru the whole first interview, and really thought he would find me too off my rocker to be able to handle the surgery. He was so compasionate and told me i was so normal in being scared. My impressions of him have never changed, he is generous with his time and energy, everytime i see him. Never too rushed to sit and listen. And if i sound to efusive then so be it. This is the man who gave me life on a new gold platter. All new patients should have the best and this is the man they want. His office staff are the best best best and i love Lisa and Kelly.
sincerly, Debbi Law
I found him intelligent, warm, and interested in me as a person. He has a good sense of humor.
My first impression has only improved. He loves what he is doing to change lives and is a true healer.
His office staff are extremely nice.
I can't think about anything that I dislike about my surgeon.
That he teaches the surgery, that he is cautions and very thorough.
Dr. Chae has discussed after care with me every thime that I have seen him
Dr Chae has a nutritionist Kelly who has a support group, also he will continue to follow my care.
Dr Chae is a straight shooter...he used down to earth talk about risks, used understandable language not medicalese...and explained statistical risks compared to not having the surgery, or having other types of this surgery ie banding etc.
I would rate Dr. Chae as an exellent surgeon and humanbeing.
I think that especially with this surgery both surgical competence and bedside manner are of equal importance. Without, a balance of both you would be in trouble...slice and dice and let someone struggle with the aftermath wouldn't be good. Having someone smiling and patrionizing you yet doing shabby surgery would be bad too.
