I only met him once, but he seemed very professional and sincere. The old office was clean and the staff helpful. I haven't been to the new office yet. Dr. Borao gave me a detailed run down of the procedure and informed me of the complications. But I figure all surgeries can have complications, but he told me in Nov. 2003 that he has not had any major complications nor deaths. I have to say, that made me feel better. Surgical competence is far more important to me than bedside manner. If I can walk away without any complications, I will be happy. I would rate my dealing with Dr. Borao so far, a 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.
Well now surgery is over and I can say that Dr. Borao is very talented and really nice guy. He seems very busy too. I heard his name called in the hospital just about every day. I think he does 2 or more surgeries per day. Great doctor and I would recommend him to anyone. a 10 out of a 1 - 10 scale.
What can i say about Dr. Borao? He is my hero! He is one of the best bariatric surgeons in NJ. He did a wonderful job and took excellent care of me. His staff is just as wonderful as he is. I highly recommend him to anybody that is interested in the surgery and if they are from nj. I would rate him a perfect 10.
only met him once... they said he was the best and i felt his confideance ..they told me his wait was one whole year minium..and i could get other dr to due in weeks ..but i waited ..he also accepted my insurance..out of pocker will be minimal..i was impressed with his after care not that i had anything to compare it with..but he empisized all about it ....not one patient has died under his care he had done six or seven hundred gastric bypasses...he has had people get sick but due to his aftercare .... everyone got better
First impression - caring, very busy, well educated informative
Over time I realize he is as awesome as I thought initially! Great bedside manner, very straight forward took time to explain everything, soft but well spoken. Made you fell very comfortable and calm. Very confident.
Office Staff were extremely friendly and helpful
There was nothign I liked least. I wish he was closer, but its about 45 mins away from my home. However well worth the drive!
future patients should know that if they go with Dr. Boarao they've got the right surgeon!
I am only 5 days post op but it appears that he emphizes aftercare which is important. His office has a full time RD and a monthly support group.
He adresses the risk of surgery by explaining them in detail, offering the national % of occurance and his % (which was always lower then the avg). He also talks about the precautions he does to help avoid these sort of things. Made me feel very relaxed and secure in my decesion.
Overall rating on a scale of 1-10 he gets a 10
Both surgical competence and bedside manner or important, if I had to choose I would say surgical competence. WIth Dr. Borao you get both!!
My impression from the info on the web about him was impressive. In person he was ok, my time with him was short. No change yet, I only met him once. His staff has been great, compassionate, helpful, knowlegable. There are monthly meetings and scheduled follow ups. The risk of surgery was addressed. I cannot say more at this time. Post surgery and after a few follow ups I will know how I feel about Dr. Borao, right now I have confidence in his ability and that's about it.
He moved his office to a new location, with new staff, that are a million times...no make that a billion times better than his original staff...the current staff is extremely friendly and helpful, they do everything they can to make this process as easy as possible. I had nothing to do except make the various appointments for my clearances and show up for them...thats it! everything else was done be the office staff..insurance clearance and everything!
As for Dr. Borao, excellent track record, fantastic surgeon...many of my nurse colleagues have used him also...bery knowledgeable, compassionate and realistic. His office has its own nutritionist and support groups....which is better? SURGICAL COMPETENCE of course!! But a good bed-side manner is an added plus, and Im confident that I will find this out on 8/10/04 as well!!
