Ernest Rehnke Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
Very impressed after 1st visit. He seems to really care about his patients. I think his office staff were nice. But Patty is a different story. She was so down to earth. She is a very caring person. She does tell you like it is. You must have all your paperwork and she won't hesitate to tell you so. LOL. When she calls to let you know you have been approved, it's like an early Christmas Present.
*I have scheduled my first consultation with Dr. Rehnke in St. Petersburg the beginning of May and am excited about getting the ball rolling so to speak!! I will report more after my first visit *
Update* 6-8-00 I have had my consult with the doctor and was very impressed with his knowledge about the surgery and his willingness to answer all my questions, never rushing me through making sure I was informed of all. He seems like a very kind and considerate man with a great bedside manner. I am feeling much better after meeting him that I will be in great hands. The office staff seemed very proffesional and caring and I'm looking forward to getting this done!!!
.
Great guy!!! Office staff is very helpful and knowledgable. Patti was really aware of what the insurance companies are looking for. I have gotten all of my info submitted and waiting for approval. Surgery date set for Jan. 12, 1999
Well it's May 24, 2000. I have gone from 475 to 370. I walk 30 min a day when I get up. I have to say that the exercise after the surgery is now a lot easier. A little over 4 mos and over 100 lbs. I feel great. I still see Dr. Rehnke once a month. He now has a support group that meets on Saturdays. I encourage anyone to come. You will learn a lot from it.
I met Dr. Rehnke, and his staff at their first support group in march. THey were extremely informative and helpful. I was anxious after the meeting, and I made my appointment as soon as I got home. Two weeks later I went to see them and I am already on the road to freedom. His nurse Julie is a very nice person, who basically reassures you that everything is going to be fine. Marlene, finalizes the paper work. She was so polite and sincere. Without mistaking, there can be a not so pretty side to this surgery, as with any major medical procedure. They absolutely let you be well informed and do prepare you for any risks involved. I am eager and hopeful to be dealing with Dr, Rehnke and his staff.I have heard nothing but wonderful things about them, and so far, they live up to their reputation.
I like Dr. Rehnke very much. He is kind and caring
and very knowledgeable. He is a general surgeon
and does not have much follow up for bariatric issues
but my PCP is doing blood tests and I take vitamin B12 shots
once a month.
I love his staff. They helped me through some tough times.
He is great! I would do it again in a minute.
I have met Dr. Rehnke one time for my initial consultation. I immediately liked him and felt very comfortable. Of course, like everyone else, I have been dealing with the HELL of the ins. company (Cigna HMO). The office staff has been extremely patient with my numerous calls in regards to getting the surgery approved. Patty especially- I owe my thanks!

I have been dealing with one wonderful individual at Dr. Rehnke's office; her name is Patty. For the past four months she has patiently helped me. I'm sure I've called her at least 30 times. I can't thank her enough!
Dr. Ernest Rehnke is a good, Christian man who is very caring and kind. His entire staff is helpful and always there when you need them. Julie, his assistant, is the best ever. There were times that I needed to ask a question after I came home from the hospital...she called back within minutes every time.
This physician is a quiet man who will not advertise himself on a web-site or billboard. That just isn't his way. He relies on his patients to "sing his praises" and we do VERY LOUDLY!!
Dr. Rehnke travels to South Africa each summer with his church to donate his services as a surgeon to those less fortunate. This is the sign of a "great" man, in my eyes!
