Dr. Rodriguez is the most caring physician of any kind that I have ever had dealings with. He is extremely patient and takes the time to make sure he answers all of your questions and that you are at ease. My dealings with him have only cemented this impression over time.
His office staff is very helpful and handled all of my insurance paperwork for me.
The only thing I do not like about visits to Dr. Rodriguez is that I usually have to wait a long time to get in to see him. I end up waiting in the waiting room and examining room for a combined 45 minutes or more.
He really stresses walking and exercise as a vital part of his aftercare program.
He actively participates in the local WLS support group.
He addresses the risks of surgery very frankly even though he has never had a serious complication.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate Dr. Rodriguez at about a 15.
Both his surgical competence and his bedside manner are great.
Consult will be 6/25 - will update then.
6/25 - Saw Dr. Rod today. He is real serious about making sure you understand the risks and complications involved as well as the need for exercise post-op. I was impressed that he had only accolades about another surgeon I told him I had seen. Some docs would try to convince you that they are 'the only, the best'. I feel very confident with my decision to have Dr. Rod as my WLS doc.
I was very impressed after my first meeting with Dr.Rodriguez, what a nice young man, and by the time our visit was over i was completely satified that i had made the right choice. It would have been well worth the 50 mile drive just to meet someone of this caliber, truly a sincere, careing and straight forward indiviual that left me feeling most optimistic about his expertize and knowledge in his field! His office staff was also very helpful, polite, and had all my pre-op test apps. set up before i left his office, on a scale of 1 to 10 i would rate him and his staff at least a 10! I think anyone would be well suited to have him as their surgeon of choice, he's very adamant about exercise and the aftercare program. He also told me that this was major surgery not to be taken lightly, but i already knew this but i had to make some kind of a choice to either take a chance at surgery are most surely die if i continue on the road i am on now, not really a hard dicision for me!!
My first impression of Dr Rodriguez was very good. He was very kind, but also very straightforward. He didn't pull any punches and he wasn't judgemental about my obesity. He doesn't "blame you" or anything like that. He understands and genuinely wants to help you get healthier. I do not believe that money factors into his motivation at all! He did my husbands surgery two weeks ago, so you know I must have great faith in his ability or I wouldn't allow him to touch the most prized thing in my life- my sweet husband. His office staff seems knowlegeable, friendly and helpful. They stayed right on top if the insurance company and worked dillegently to get approval for both me and my husband, and got us on the surgery schedual very quickly. Dr. Rodriguez stresses exercise very much, he is rather blunt about that. I would definately rate him a 10 as a surgeon, (hubbies incision looks great, and it wasn't very big). He also kept me informed every step of the way, and his bed side manner was kind but very efficient.
There was an ad in the newspaper for a
seminar on weight loss surgery and I thought
I would call to find out some details. I
spoke with a nurse by the name of Karen who
had personally had the surgery. She totally
motivated me and made me feel welcome. I
attended the seminar and then met Dr.
Rodriguez a couple of weeks later. I thought
he was very professional and at the same
time made me feel comfortable talking to him
about this surgery. He totally emphasized
exercise and said I would have to walk at least 30 minutes a day if I wanted this surgery to work. I have only met with him once so I am not prepared to "rate" him yet.
My first impression of Dr Rodriguez was one of compassion. This man understands that it is not easy to lose weight when there is a lot of weight to lose with very little mobility. He is also a calm kind man that helps you be at ease when talking of these matters.
His office staff are wonderfull very helpfull and also very kind and polite you could not ask for better people.
Dr is very strong on wanting you to do walking after the surgury and trying to get at least 30 minutes a day of walking and exercise in more and more as you heal.
I feel all the staff and the Doctor was very helpfull in telling me everything i needed to know and prepair me for this upcoming surgury.
Really enojoyed meeting him. He had be referred highly, so I was excited before I ever met him. I had attended a support group meeting that he sponsors, but he was unable to attend that night. He seemed very in tuned to what you were saying and wanted you to know that he will do what he can do, but he expects you to also meet him part of the way- mainly exercise! He seems to be very attentive to you as far as the aftercare right after surgery and explained his procedure thoroughly. I felt very comfortable with him and he seemed very professional. I also was impressed about the length of my visit, none of that "next patient, gotta go" attitude. I look forward to using him as my doctor.
