My impression of Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Jackson, and their office staff are A+. They are professional as well as personable. Brandy has gone above and beyond in her job!!!!!

I met with Dr. Rodriguez on March 7, 2001. He and his staff could not have been more wonderful. I was very pleased and felt very comfortable with them. Karen spent a lot of time explaining and answering questions, as did Dr. Rodriguez. We also met Dr. Jackson who was very sweet. I drove from Covington, LA to see Dr. Rodriguez. Covington is near New Orleans, about a six hour drive to Palestine, TX. On the way, I wondered "What am I doing?!!" It was well worth the drive and I am very pleased. Brandy has been very helpful. I feel she sometimes gets a bad rep, as she does have a very dry sense of humor. I think she's great!
I am very comfortable with my decision to have surgery with Dr. Rodriguez and after having been to a couple of physician seminars and meetings locally, I feel I have absolutely made the right decision.
Thanks Dr. Rodriguez, Karen and Brandy!!!

First impression: Very professional and caring. Also, he seems very meticulous. I feel confident in his surgical skills and in his aftercare philosophy.
Well.....there is also that drop-dead gorgeous part....You'll see!!

His nurse/coordinator, Karen, was awesome. She is friendly and caring, and patiently answered all my questions. She is a patient of Dr. Rodriguez and is just there to help us make the surgery successful.

His reception office staff could leave a little to be desired.

Dr. Rodriguez addressed all the risks of the surgery with me. I am not a rookie to surgeries, having had a couple of major ones in my lifetime, so I am not too scared. Most of the risks are just the risks of any surgery. I asked about pain medicine and he said: You'll get lots of it!! LOL That was the right answer!!

Obviously surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, but sometimes how well your doc gets along with the staff at the hospital and how much they respect him can affect how they treat you, so it is important also.

Dr. Rodriguez is a very serious, dedicated, kind, and caring Doctor. He seems very confident. The office staff seem to be nice.
I would recommend him to others. I didn't find any thing I disliked about him so far.
He stresses exercise very much. He has a structured aftercare program. Dr. Rodriguez stresses the risk of surgery and overall I would rate him very highly.

I felt like he cared and was excited for me. I only saw him once and it was a good meeting. Over time I have really grown to like him. He seems to really like helping people. As far as the office staff I never felt as though they cared at all. With the exception of one nurse who had already been through the surgery herself and she is really a blessing. Future patients should know you have picked a fine surgen to do your surgery. The after care is very important with this doctor. They have been very good to me. As far as the risks they let me know first had what I was looking at and I truely would rate him as a great doctor with both great surgical competence and bedside manners. I would recomend him highly.

I met Dr. Rodriquez at a seminar in Tyler, Tx. My first impression of him was WOW he is gorgeous. I'm just being honest guys!!!! I found him to be very honest and caring. He took the time to answer everyones questions. Over time my impression has not changed. Dr. R. told me of all the risk of this surgery at my consultation. Dr. R will tell you quickly "If you don't excercise, this tool won't work and you may want it to". He really stresses excercise. I would say his bedside manner is wonderful and I totally trust him. He has a person on staff that has had the surgery and is a RN. After you have your pre-op testing done you will sit down and talk to Karen (RN) and she explains again all of the do's and no no's. She even gives you a packet with very good information in it to help you post-op. I wasn't pleased with Dr. R's other office help and hope that will change.

my first impression of dr rodriquez was that he truly cared about the person i was under all this fat. he commended me for being courageous enough to take the first step of my journey by visiting him. he was quick to tell me that he believes obesity is not a lazy person's disease, but one that anyone could acquire.
my impression changed in the way that i perceived dr dirk as more very caring and kind. i was never faced with any arrogance or a negative attitude.
i very much like his office staff. they are quite busy, but did a good job at making me feel important.
what i liked least about dr dirk was that every office visit reqired a 30 min-1 hr wait time to see him. because i live 1 hr away, i felt this to be a bit too lengthy. i was put in a room right away each time, but had to wait before seeing him. walls close in very fast and time seems to crawl.
future patients should know of his kind, caring demeanor, but very important.... he stresses that if you are ready for this life changing surgery, you must be willing to commit at least 30 min every day to exercise.
he is very concerned with aftercare. he made sure that i was on vitamins as well as my exercise program. he does not necessarily have a structured program, but he expects you to structure a suitable program for yourself. one that gives you vitamins and exercise.
he told me of the risks, and he also sent me home with a book about himself, the different types of surgery, and the one he chooses to do, due to the long term success. this book was very helpful and still is even after surgery.
i would definitely rate him a 10. i was displeased with nothing during my hospital stay and found him to be very considerate of my family as well.
i am 29 yrs old and have small children. i would have never taken a risk such as this if i was not completely satisfied with the level of competency that he showed and certainly the bedside manner was very important to me as well. i would say he was great in both of these areas.

Dr. Rodriquez is a very kind and considerate doctor.
I spoke with a nurse there who has had this surgery and both the doctor and his nurse were very helpful in answering all my questions and concerns.
They told me of all the risks and benefits. I feel that I do not have any other options anymore.
We spoke of the walking that must take place after surgery.
Dr. Rod. made me feel very at ease and he was not hateful or rude. I have had Doctors in the past that almost hate anyone who it overweight.
I am waiting on insurance to approve this surgery. He has a web site, www. advancedsurgerygroup.com

I attented a WLS support group in my area and Dr. Rodriguez took time out of his busy life to come and answer any questions that the group had. He talked to us about an hour and a half. He is one of the most caring docotors that I have ever met
I was so impressed with him. He is a very skilled doctor and has not lost a patient to this surgery. Howeveer he does not take anything lightly either and he prays for his patients. I think I would highly recommend this Doctor to anyone who is thinkg of having this surgery.

I am now post-op and I feel fine. I am 5 days post-op and I am home from the hospital.
My Doctor sat down with me in my room and had a long chat with me about the do's and don't of working at home after the surgery. I am making progress in healing but I know that it will take time to heal. My Doctor's bedside manner is great. Everything that I asked for I received, such as nausea meds and then I could not have a BM for several days so we had to leave the NG tube in and I asked for throat spray for the constant pain and was given that to help and it did help alot.

I would recommend my surgeon to anyone who needed one.

I went for my post-op appt. today and Dr. Rodriguez spent at least thirty minutes with me discussing how I was, did I have any problems, How my eating and excerise was going, and just about everything. He is the most remarkable doctor that I have ever met. He cares for you as a person and joins everything we do as a group as much as He care. May God bless this wonderful man for He has been a blessing to me.

I met Dr. Rodriguez on May 22, 2001 and I found him to be compasionate. I did not feel self-conscious during our vist. He never once made me feel guilty for being the way I am. In fact, this is what he said that brought tears to me eyes, " Lenora, you are defintely a candidate for this surgery. Not only do you need it, but you deserve it."
All I can say is wow!

Dr. R (as we call him), recently visited our support group meeting and I think he was as much in awe of us as we were of him. He walked into a new group, where there was standing room only. This room was full of people praying this is their answer, people that are approved and waiting for him to give the chance to start their new life and those that are on their journey and so full of life. It was a wonderul opportunity to hear what he had to say and to see him converse with people on such a natural level. We have started an email group and he posts weekly and it is wonderful. I have never had this kind of relationship with any Doctor, much less a surgeon. I believe the positive feelings these encounters cause will only increase the good will and confidence at the time of surgery.
