My first impression: very quiet, but he did take the time to answer my questions. Before meeting him, I heard through other doctors about his strong reputation and experience, so I kind of thought he would have a stronger personality. He's a gentleman.
My impression now: I really like him. He seems to be a very personal; kinda warm and fuzzy doctor.
I like the office staff a lot. They work like clock-work. I don't know what I like least about him - I don't have any complaints so far. Future patients should know not to take his quietness personally. He is just reserved.
He emphasizes aftercare quite a bit. He does have a structured aftercare program. He stresses monthly appointments and support group meetings, diet, exercise, etc. He did address the risks of surgery. I would rate him a 9 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest. I think his surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful.
I really reserched the Lap procedure. Went to initial visit with tons of questions, Dr. V took his time answering any and all questions that I or my Husband had.. Loved his staff nurse beth ann. Also checked out may other places, but liked Dr. V's ability to preform procedure lap, also I'm an RN and i "checked out" his surgeon abilitys through peers, A+!! My surgery is scheduled for 1-28-03 cant wait.
Very intelligent, caring individual, who knows what he is talking about both on a laymans level and on a more technical level as well. Answered all questons, easy going, direct. Office staff is busy but courteous and friendly. Support groups are great for pre-op as well as post -op.Really helps to meet and talk with people who are patients of your surgeon. Many come to support group within 1 wk of surgery and that is very impressive to us who are waiting. We are planning group get togethers for activites like walking, field trips etc. beth Ann his nurse is extremely helpful and very good to us.
My first impression of Dr. von Rueden was that he had kind eyes, looked you in the eye when he spoke to you. His office staff was efficient and kind. He was informative and honest. I went into the appointment guns blazing, I think I my have overwhelmed him. I have done a lot of research and attended the info session. All aspects of pre, post and perioperative areas were covered. There is a structured aftercare with visits up to two years out and a support group. The risks of surgery were discussed. I think Dr. von Rueden was a 10! I think The Program Director covered all bases and was very nice. I think surgical competence is #1 but a good bedside manner certainly goes a long way.
Very personable, caring, and concerned. Looks you in your eyes while he speaks. Comes highly rated from the internet. His staff is awesome, will go to any length to answer any questions you may have. The Dr. and his staff are extremely dedicated especially with the followup after care. They outline each meeting and call to insure you will be there.
I met Dr. VonReuden by working at Lankenau Hospital. He is an excellent laproscopic surgeon. After spending time with him and working with him to establish the bariatric program I realized what a dedicated and compassionate surgeon he is and how genuinely concerned he is about working with morbidly obese patients. He is very attentive to the needs of the patient. He listened to my story wholeheartedly in hopes to understand the scope of his patients' lssues. He also is an advocate for his patients and will not tolerate any mistreatment. Our office provides an empathetic and compassionate atmosphere. We want our patients to feel that it is not their fault that they have this medical condition and we are here to provide them with a treatment. Our relationship with the patients does not end the day of surgery, but rather just begins.
