From the first time I met Dr. Von Rueden, I liked him. He was informative and answered any questions that I had. rnrnAs I continued to meet with Dr. Von Rueden and his staff, I felt more confident about my decision to have the surgery done. Each person that I have worked with in his office has been very knowledgeable and helpful as well as kind! Irnrn would absolutely recommend Dr. Von Rueden to people...he was recommended to me and I have done the same. rnrnI wholeheartly believe that the aftercare program is a vital tool in heloing one to succeed! Life isn't always an easy road and it's nice to share the ups and downs with other people who have been through or are going through what you have and can relate.rnrnThe very first informative session Dr. Von Rueden discussed the risks as well as all weight loss options.rnrnDr. Von Rueden is a fantastic doctor!rnrnSurgical Competence rates slightly higher, although bedside manner is VERY important.

I was pleased with the initial consultation with Dr. Von Rueden. I enjoyed meeting his office staff, Barbie, Rose and Sloane. They all gave me the impression that I was their most important patient at that time and that made me feel good. He emphasized that bariatric surgery of any kind was a tool and that I should be aware of that fact. How I use the tool is up to me. I agree that is true, how I choose to look at the picture and to react to the chance I am given is totally up to me. I also went to a support group session that evening and was astounded at some of the stories. Met some very helpful people and look forward to interacting with them again. I have had one appointment so far and look forward to my second one at the end of July.

My first impression of Dr Von R was that he was warm and inviting. The office staff is very efficient. He is confident and a good listener. He really wants to know what you think and makes you feel as if you are in control.

I liked Dr. Von Rueden. He is quiet and friendly. He answered all of my questions and made me feel very comfortable about the process. He also took time to explain Gastric Bypass and lapband procedures. I am in the second month of my 6 month pre-surgery program. I meet with Sloane, the nutrionist, last week and I lost a few pounds in the past month. I am scheduling my tests and view \"all\" of the tests as an important part of taking care of myself no matter what procedure I choose. It's an adventure and I am just taking it one day at a time.

My first impression during the WL seminar is this man knows his stuff. The information provided during the seminar was pretty much a discussion of what to expect both pre and post operative. He answers all of the questions of the participants who attended the surgery. the best treat was he informed evryone that WLS is not for everyone and you have to do it for yourself and no one else. It is an live changing decision. He also had a pt that he had performed the surgery on speak to the group about her journey towards WLS. My initial consult was approx 2 weeks after attending the seminar and I had a whole list of questions that may and may not have been asked but Dr. von Rueden stated I had very good questions and concerns. The office staff was all very pleasant espacially Nurse Barb Stricker, I just love this woman and I just met her...very helpful and answers all of my questions.

I found Dr. Von Rueden to be extremely professional, and extremely personable. He was very patient with my numerous questions, and very thorough in his approach to my overall health. I always felt very comfortable with him and with the entire staff at GBMC's obesity management program. rnrnMost importantly, the staff put a lot of emphasis on preparation and aftercare, from mental and emotional preparedness, to making healthy choices and changes for life. Following my surgery, I have consistently found myself thankful that I chose the program at GBMC, as I have felt comfortable and prepared at every step.

My first impression of Dr. Von Reuden and his staff was that they were very proffessional, understanding and helpful. DVR was very layed back, always observing his surroundings. He reminded me of a person who wanted everything to go smooth. He went so far as to get and arrange extra seats so everyone felt welcome and part of the group. This told me that no job was too big or too small for him do to have things done right. He answered all questions no matter how technical or simple they were with much patience and enthusiasm. The risk and complications were talked about in detail. When I have my 1st consultation with him, he asked if there were any questions I had about the surgery. All I said was \"No\". I should have said I had three friends to go through this with ease, but being a retired nurse, I do know the complications that could arise. I should have told him I had seen several videso on the RNY and banding (actual surgeries) on the internet, that I had read several books from the libruary. But at that time all I was concerned about was insurance and cost. The more I visited the office and watched him interact with staff and patients, the more confident of his ability to do the surgery and it is also an indication of how thorough he would be from the start of surgery to the end with bedside manner.

Dr. von Rueden is a very kind man. He takes his time to explain the whole process. At first, I thought a six-month waiting period was ridiculous, however, the longer I wait the more I learn about this surgery. My insurance dictates a six-month, doctor-supervised diet. At my first office visit I had just completed a six-month period with Weight Watchers; however, United HealthCare does not recoginize Weight Watchers. Good, because I am loosing even more weight before my surgery. His office staff is very helpful. There is a very good after-surgery program in place. He and his office staff let you know up front that you are expected to participate in all their before- and after-surgery programs, which I am gratefully. All the risks have been explained and I am learning even more through ObesityHelp.com. So far my experience with this doctor and office staff have been excellent and I don't anticipate any forthcoming problems. rnrnDr. vonRueden is an excellent surgeon. I had no pain whatsoever (except for a little smarts when beding over). In the recovery room I asked the nurse to check, because I didn't think he did anything. I was out of work for 4 days. Highly recommend.
