My visit with Dr. Schumacher was excellent. He appeared very knowledgeable about any type of bariatric surgery and helped both myself and my husband understand and make our choice of surgeries. His support staff of nutritionist, psychologist and exercise physiologist are the best. His PA was excellent. His office staff have been very helpful although they appear to be very understaffed? or overworked?. I started the process with Dr. Schumacher on the 17th of January and received my insurance approval in Mid-March/ I thought it took a long time, but after reading about others on OH I realize that was pretty fast. My surgery is scheduled for May 4, 2010.
Absolutely Dr. Schumacher is the very, very best. My surgey was wonderful and he fixed a bunch of adhesions but was still able to do it laporascopiclly (spelling?} His PA Melissa was also great. I can't say enough about him or his care for me in the hospital. He was in to see me twice a day.
Love that man, for giving me a new lease on life.

Dr Anderson is a no nonsense doctor. She is direct and to the point. If you looking for someone who sugarcoats your experience, look elsewhere.
UPDATE 29 Jan 2010
Went to Kettering hospital for my blood work (Pre Admission testing) AGAIN. On the way out I decided to go up to Dr. Anderson's office and guess what....they told me I had to be rescheduled again for the FORTH time. That's it---I am totally fed up with Dr. Anderson and her staff.
AVOID HER and her Office Staff AT ALL COSTS!
What a joke, this is the most unorganized office I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and see someone else.
I have decided to go with Dr. Schumacher. He's in the same network, so I might not have to start all over.
I plan to report Dr. Anderson and her staff to the BBB and whatever other organizations that may listen.
No one shoud go through this type of treatment.
I have heard some great things about Dr. Anderson, but I can't continue to go thru this agony.....
TWO WEEKS POST OP...What can I say. The switch to Dr. Schumacher was the smartest move I made. He was GREAT! His PA Jerod was GREAT and his entire staff was GREAT!!! Truly I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. If your considering Dr. Shumacher for you WLS, don't waste a minute looking elsewhere.

My first impressions were great. Dr S. is very personable. He comes across as very friendly and caring. rnrnI was a little leary of his staff, they can never find my chart. It really worried me, but I really wanted him to do my surgery so I told him how I felt. He seemed a little offended. But I could have been being a little sensitive. It was difficult for me to bring up. rnrnI really really wanted him to do my surgery. And I'm glad that I chose him. He did an excellent job. And I like the fact that you have to see a nutritionist and exercise physiologist and a psychologist whenever you see him. You get a lot of support. rnrnBoth of his PA's are also excellent. They take time and explain things to you and answer your questions over and over again. I felt very reassured.

I thought he was very nice and took his time with me. I didn't feel like I was rushed in and out. He took his time to answer my questions and acted genuinely concerned about me.rnrnThe staff seem in a hurry all the time. It sometimes seems like I am bothering them although they are really trying not to act that way you can tell they have to try hard. I notice they are super busy not just pretending to be they are truly busy! Maybe they need some extra help?rnrnNow the nutrionists, social worker and exercise physiologists that he works with are FABULOUS!!!! LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE them!!rnrnDr. Schumacher made sure I knew this is a long process and to stick with it. I think he is wonderful and this is going to be great!

I thought that he was very nice and easy to talk to. I found the more that i talk to him the more i liked him. His staff is great i love the ladys they all ways have time to answer any question that i may have. there is nothing about the doc that i have found that i dont like. That he and his staff are there for you and if you need something you just have to ask. He will tell you that the surgery is just the start of the journey if you follow the program you will be better with your wls. The doc tells you the whole story about wls you will not leave the office not having all the information you need they want you to come there with all your questions in hand. I would give the doc a 10 so far and the staff to. I believe that bedside manner and knowing your job are both important to me.

Dr. Schumacher is so nice and real about everything. He doesn't try to sugar coat it. He lets you know it's going to be a lot of work and it's not the "easy way out". The girls in the office are so sweet and always go the extra mile.....poor things never seem to stop runnin...lol. The after care program they have is so awsome. You definitely
aren't in it alone.
I would recommend any one who is thinking of weight loss surgery to go to one of his seminars.

Dr Schumacher is a great guy and a very good surgeon. He or his staff always had time to answer questions and he and his PA's were there everyday after surgery to check on my progress. After surgery care and visits so far have been great and I would highly reccomend him and his staff for this procedure. They are a \"Center of Excellence\" for this surgery. Also he is aggressive in that he only requires 24 hour pro-op prep diet in most cases and is aggressive in moving patients throught the food stages as appropriate.

I liked Dr Schumacher right away. And I met him at the Holiday Inn..He grow up in a small town which I think can help you become down to earthand a realist.rnI will tell you that he does know what he's doing. He showed my nieces who took me to the hospial my pictures of my surgery, after surgery.rnrnHis office staff at first seemed guarded..I thought maybe they had something happen , and I was right . I found out what it was in the hospital. It had nothing to do with Dr. Schumacher ! After this passed they were great..relaxed. They are very, very busy, but know their trade well. And I LIKED THEM ALOT!!rnrnWhat did I like least? I didn't think his PA's understood how much the drugs caused me to be out of it in the hospital..Until they wore off. I was not myself.rnWhat should future people know about him? I would drive to go to him no matter where you live..He's one of those Doc's who you can trust while your out during surgery. He hides nothing. I would not go to anyone else BUT Him in his office.rnAftercare is good. That is up to you to follow through. You will go to classes with Ann Hunt for about two hours and she answers everything honestly. And it's very good. The best I've seen before surgery.rn
