Dr. Rohrer has been great to work with during my pre-op and post-op surgery questions. I feel as a surgeon that he is confident with his procedures and has addressed each issue and fully explained himself. His staff is thorough and very pleasant to talk with in person and have always returned phone calls promptly. Even Dr. Rohrer has returned my call within minutes. The staff at the hospital was superb also. Dr. Rohrer's aftercare program is well put together and he gives pointers and reminders when needed, never in a condescending way. I would recommend him and his staff to anyone who wants to be treated with respect along with having a confident surgeon.
Dr. Rohrer has a very good bedside manner. He made me feel comfortable from his entrance into the exam room. His information and delivery was superb. I'm a humorous type of person and was even able to get him to laugh it up a bit from his stern "straight to the point" shell. The office staff is wonderful to work with. I know that he has several patients, but the feeling was relayed that I was the only one. There was nothing that was displeasing in his professionalism. It helped me to have done quite a bit of research about the different procedures available and what the process entales so I was prepared going into our first visit. He was very informative regarding aftercare and outlined the steps. He does have a sturtured aftercare program that combines the Bariatric Institute which is connected to the Hospital including a nutrician program. On a scale of 1-10, he is a 10. I feel that surgical competence and bedside manner are both important qualities that a surgeon performing these procedures need to have.
Dr. Rohrer was so very kind and understanding when I met him, He was professional, and was highly recomended by several trusted professionals. His office staff was kind and understanding, always friendly and supportive.
I am two years post-op and would have liked to see a more structured after care or support group to help with the strange questions that come up with. I am still trying to cope with different side effects.
All of the known risks were spelled out clearly except for the fact that the protien levels should increase from 40 to 80grams, as a result I suffered severe hair loss, but now am doing very well. I rate Dr. Rohrer and his staff a very strong 8.5 and would gladly recomend him.
I felt at ease with Dr. Rohrer. He was really went through the whole procedure so I was aware of everthing that was going on. I saw him a coupel times while I was in the hospital (I was out of it). His staff was also excellent I couldn't of had better help. They took care of all my needs. I thing that I would tell future patients is that he is really serious and theral. You could tell he had been doing this for awhile, everything was planned ahead and there were no surprises. Jen
Dr. Rohrer is a very kind man. He sort of reminded me of a grandpa. Very nurturing and genuinely concerned. The office is very small and very intimate. No waits, even with only one office staff (and she is fabulous). I love everything about him! He definitely emphasized exercise, which is a given. The program is fairly structured...not too much though. He's absolutely fabulous, and I would recommend him in a heart beat!
Dr. Rohrer was very prompt and professional. He made very good eye contact and listened intently as I spoke with him. He seemed to me to be a very intelligent, calm and sensitive individual dedciated to the best care for his patients.
When it came time for him to explain the
steps and eventually the procedure, he was EXTREMELY thorough and made sure I understood everything clearly. I was provided with literature that explained everything quite well (and which I have refered to often).
He was also very open about his complication rate (which is very low) and the number of these procedures he has performed (more than all the rest of the surgeons in the state combined).
My PCP asked to have a copy of Dr. Rohrer's notes from my visit and it was delivered quite promptly after my initial visit. This is important to me because I like the fact that professional courtesy is extended to all the people who are caring for me.
His office got my insurance letter sent and approved in a matter of a couple weeks and were very competent in setting up my pre-surgical tests and various insurance hoops through which I had to jump.
Since being approved, I have had to call the office for various questions (some complicated many very minute) and his staff has always taken the time to answer me. They've been polite and responsive -- never making me feel like I was wasting their time when I'm sure I was! They even gave my husband the phone number of a hotel where a discounted rate for surgical patients is given.
I go in for my surgery Monday and will add more when I see how he and his staff is both during and after surgery. But at this point, having him as my doctor is the ONLY thing I have had no anxiety about! :)
Dr. Rohrer was a quiet man. He answered the questions I had and gave me some additional information I hadn't thought of asking. I was impressed that he did not skim over, or make light of the fact that this surgery is a very serious and major operation, not without risks of complications. I did, feel a bit rushed in my initial visit with Dr. Rohrer. I was nervous and was unable to come up with all the questions I initially intended to ask. My second visit with him was much less stressful and I came more prepared with my questions. I was glad that after care was stressed and is available at the clinic. Pamphlets, and printouts were given to me to read through prior to surgery, to help prepare me for, (and answered many questions I had) what to expect during and after surgery. Dr. Rohrer's office staff is very helpful and efficient. Always willing to help with questions and/or concerns. Lisa is on-the-ball! I would refer my friends/family to Dr. Rohrer.
My first impression of Dr. Rohrer, was he was very knowledgible about what the procedure was and how he was going to do it. He answered any and all questions that I had. As time went by, I trusted him even more. His office staff of 1, was very nice and personalble. The least thing I liked about him was that he was in Great Falls, Montana and I live in Billings. It was a 4 hour road trip to see him. NOW there are 2 surgeons in Billings who do the surgery, they started 1 year after I had my surgery. What a BUMMER!!!
They had a nice aftercare program with support groups, but it was difficult for me to attend due to the miles apart. The meetings were/are during the week. I would give Dr. Rohrer a "10".
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both very important!!!
