My first impression of Dr. Lindsay was that she is a very nice person and really cares about her patiences. She is very imformative and explains very thing so you can understand wnat she is talking about. I really like her and I would tell anyone who wants baritric surgery to go to her she is the best. Her office staff is very nice to. I am in my 2 months with Dr. Lindsay and she has a very excellent sftercare. If you need anything she is there to help you all you have to do is call her and it is done. She did tell me the risks of surgery and dicussed this with me. I would rate Dr. Lindsay as the best of the best SHe is right up there and the best surgeon I have ever had contact with. She really cares for her patiences. I would tell everyone who wants this surgery to go to her. She is the BEST.
Dr Lindsay is awesome! She was very informative and made me feel very relaxed! The staff was ok. They were busy and that is understandable. I have no complaints on her!
Her program is very detailed. She makes sure you understand it all! She even told me what happens if something goes wrong, how wh will talk to my family and when she will come and see me.
Thank God she is so good!
Well now I have had the surgery and the above is even more true now! She sent me home well on my way to recovery and with a lot of information!
Dr. Dana Lindsay is very friendly and very professional in her behavior. She is curtious and forthcoming with any information about the surgery and the risks involved, and especially those that would pertain to you. She also puts it in laymans terms and doesn't talk over your head, she makes sure you and your family understand exactly what the proceedures are and what is expected for your prognosis.
Each time I have met with her I am met with a friendly smile and a possitive attitude. She makes my day! Her staff is professional and caring, making you feel comfortable and welcomed. In the beginning, I had to push them to get the paper work completed and sent into my insurance. After that was finally completed I was approved and had surgery within 3 weeks! Dr. Lindsay will call you personally about any questions you have and stays informed on your situation
She is very strict on what she expects for you so you will recover and get the most benefit from your surgery, and her aftercare is wonderful! She does her job and she expects you to do your part. You are followed closely by checking your weight loss and monitered with blood work to make sure all your "levels" are normal.
If I had to rate Dr. Lindsay on a scale between 1 and 10 I couldn't, she would rate much higher!!! I have complete confidence in her and I was not scared at all going into surgery. She knows her business and she really cares about people. That combination is rare. She's not only my surgeon, but my friend. And, I bet you would hear the same statement from all her patients. I would recommend her to anyone...and I have.
Dr. Lindsay's office is doing a new thing which I think is WONDERFUL for all involved! There have a coordinator named Eileen Wenning who you go through first. You have a meeting at the hospital and there were about 10 people there when I went. We watch a film, she hands out packets with paperwork you fill out and information. Dr. Lindsay is there and goes over the procedures and answers questions and you get to meet her. It is really cool as there is a list of things you have to do and all that and you have to fill out all the info and do all the stuff required on your part, meet with a shrink, then see Eileen and the nutritionist and then scedule your appt with Dr. Lindsay. It is very nice to do this as all around it helps save time on everyones part and you also feel very up close and personal with Eileen and that you are doing something yourself too! Plus, for them, this must be a godsend! You can weed out who really wants it as it IS work to get all this done. Makes you really appreciate those who do not have coordinators and so on. Anywho, I liked Dr. Lindsay. She was very energetic and definitely convinced this surgery works. She is on a 'team' that is trying to make up information to convince insurance companied to cover this surgery. Very informative, upbeat. I really have no negative things to offer on her or her office. I was pleased with everything so far! And Eileen is a doll! She also had the surgery!!! So she knows whereof she speaks and was able to present her case too!
I will post more after I meet her and so on.
12/23/03 I met with Dr.Lindsay today I was nervous but her professionalism put me at ease. She was no nonsense, very to the point but not in a hurried way.She didn't try to sugar coat it she let me about the risk which I was already aware of because of this site and my having the previous wls. All in all my first impression of her is that she seems very competent, I feel very comfortable with her right now.Her office staff was polite,I had to wait a little longer but it wasn't their fault, mhc took their time calling back with a referral number, they still hadn't done it when I had finished my appointment. We talked about the aftercare how I would coming back periodically for checkups etc.. that's a big change from the way they did it 20 years ago.My only concern is her experience as a far as revision surgery, she done them before I just want to find out how many and the amount of complications that occurred,I'll find that out at the next appointment.
Dr Lindsay was my first choice as surgeon after doing a lot of research. She is at a smaller hospital just outside of Indianapolis. She is VERY committed to doing WLS only after you really know what you are getting into. Almost everyone that I came into contact with had actually had the surgery themself. You start with the bariatric nurse, Eileen. You meet with her and she very thoroughly explains the surgical procedure and the follow up plans. She is very good at this since she has gone through it. Then you have to meet with the dietician who completely explains how you will eat afterwards and for the rest of your life. At this point if you are really committed to the life changes, you meet with Dr. Lindsay.
She is very personable and took a lot of time to talk with me and answer my questions. She examined me to determine if I was a candidate for laproscopic surgery. At the end of our appointment she gave me a test to take. If I had any wrong answers she said she would call and discuss them with me. The test was over the risks and the program. What a great way to make sure you completely understand waht you are getting into and the risks that are involved.
The aftercare program is very structured and by the time you are on your way home after surgery, you have been given 3 copies - which is great for me because I have a habit of misplacing papers.
I would highly recommend Dr Lindsay to anyone who is seriously considering WLS. She is an excellent surgeon. I had asked for her statistics prior to my first appointment. She is very upfront and will answer any and all questions very straight forward. I knew exactly what I was getting into before the surgery. She also told my family after surgery to be very supportive and that I may wonder just what I had done for about the first 4 months - but would then be very happy I had the surgery done.
My first impression? she was full of energy, straight to the point and I just love her!! She put us right at ease and we felt as though we'd known her for ever! The staff..WELL...
I got my denial letter today, and from what I can see, and have heard from my insurance co, the information they received was not sufficient for approval. I assumed that since they had done this before, and it was my first time, I could depend on them to do it right...MY MISTAKE. Now I will take over & get it done right the second time. Not impressed w/the staff at all, but Dr L is great. We will see how this goes! Of course this is just my experience, my opinion, and everyone has one. Your experience may be fantastic! Just double check the information that they need, ask questions on what they are sending! GOOD LUCK!
Surgery was very good, no problems, no complications (A minor set back w/my hernai, but to be addressed at a later date). Still have the same opinion about Dr L she is fabulous. Her staff..still leaves a lot to be desired, slow and uncaring is MY opinion. I know of 2 people now that they have not taken care of as far as the original packet to insurance, that is not good in my eyes. Again MY OPINION, and every one has one, right???? The problems w/staff are outweighed by Dr Lindsay, so dont worry about that!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Lindsay has a very energetic personality and knows her stuff very well.
She did make me feel at ease about needing the surgery, but did not beat around the bush about the risks and benefits of having it done. I respect that alot because I've had plenty of doctors over the years pull the BS routine on me, but she didn't.
She shot straight from the hip as far as answering all the questions I had and helped me to understand what was going to happen.
Her and her staff explained all the aftercare that was expected.
The only thing that was not really unlikeable, but quite a bit overwhelming is that the general testing plus the consultation with her and the nutritionists was all in one day.
But I figured that since I live pretty far away from the hospital; she wanted to take care of the preliminary testing all at once and get it out of the way.
I guess as of now; I could rate her an 8 out of 10, but truth will be told as time goes on.
The best thing overall though is that she gave me HOPE..
