Today was the first day that I have actually had the chance to speak with Dr. Lindsay and she impressed me right off the bat by remembering me from the education seminar that I attended...nearly two months ago. She was more than attentive and patient while listening to the questions that my wife and I had for her. After a number of questions, she then said, "Okay, now it's my turn to ask you a few."
Her office staff was very friendly and followed through with all the details.
One of the most impressive qualities of Dr. Lindsay as a bariatric surgeon is the fact that she started as a bariatric surgeon, not a GP or OB/GYN.
The aftercare program at Johnson Memorial and with Dr. Lindsay is probably the greatest reason they have the success rate that they have. It was stated a number of times in the two meetings that I have attended there that the surgery is just a tool for the weight loss program. Other "tools" are the support meetings (that I will attend after my surgery), the nutrionists at Johnson Memorial (who were also very friendly and professional), and then Dr. Lindsay herself after the surgery should there be a problem, not just the on-call doc.
After our conversation with her today, she reinforced my confidence in her as a surgeon and I got a glimps of what her bedside manner will be. She is going to help me change my life.
Excellent surgical skills and patient outcomes. Willing to take the time to answer all of my questions. Helped me fight appeal from my insurance company to get approved for the surgery.
My respect only grew for her and her abilties.
Office staff very willing to help with what ever I needed done.
She has performed hundreds of Gastric by pass Roux-En-Y surgies with very good outcomes for patients.
Very highly emphasizes after care. Has office staff call to keep in contact with you. The hospital also has a bariatric coordinator that is a post "barry" patient and goes above and beyond to help each person or perspective patient. Follows each pt. at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and at 1 year. Then once a year forever after that.
I had a very long office visit with her after I had attended a seminar she gives monthly to discuss surgery, surgical risks, post-op care (and diet). During this office visit she discussed each risk with me. Even gave me a test to take to make sure I understood what I was hearing.
She is top notch!!!! Her bedside manner is good too.
My problems were dealing with the insurance company to get approval for the surgery. This took me 9 months and tons of documentation. I am still dealing with them because they did not pay for the other surgeon that assisted her.
My first impression of Dr.Lindsay was a good one. She took time to answer all of my questions and made me feel as though she was interested in what I had to say. She explained the surgery in detail so I would understand exactly what would happen. She explained the risks and got me through the many complications that I had afterwards. She's an awesome doctor. I give her an A+ and would recommend her to anyone.
I metDr. Lindsay today and was very impressed with her. She owns a real passion for what she is doing and is really committed to assisting others find a better life. You don't always find individuals with such a desire to commit to others. You can observe the joy in her eyes when she describes her work. It is her love her passion. How fortunate I am to have met her.
I had my first appointment on March 4, 2003. The initial visit was with Dr Hilfer, who seemed very nice and thorough even though he was very busy. The staff has been very nice. The only problem was the waiting, but since I have been on the other side in a medical office I can understand. Before I could get an appointment I had to purchase the information about the surgery and there were a lot of questionairs to answer, but also in the binder is all the information for the aftercare which is nice to know what to expect and also all of this came with a VCR tape which was good to show family members that are concerned with what I want to have done. Now I am in the process of getting all the consults done. I have an seeing a doctor and/or a tech every day this week. I'm looking forward to getting everything done so I can make my next appointment which will be with Dr Madan.
Well, I'm 2/3 way into the game and I'm changing doctors. I had my appointment with Dr Madan, but he informed me that he is not comfortable with my being so far away and also that I'm too heavy for him to do surgery on at this time. He suggested I find a doctor closer to home. So when I got back I went to the Indiana message board of OH and started doing some checking and I believe that Dr Lindsay will be a great choice. I called her office and the bariatric coordinator was very pleasant and we sent up an appt with their nutritionist and with Dr Lindsay. I have called the Memphis office and they are sending me the record release form to sign. Dr Lindsay was amazing, she was down to earth and explained the procedure in common terms to leave no question as to what was going to happen. She was not in a rush like a lot of doctors are and was willing to talk and answer questions. She is a really personable doctor that does not make you feel like a fat person like so many other doctors do. I believe I made a great choice in choosing her for my surgeon.
