Christina Li Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

My primary care provider recommended the Bariatric Surgery program at Sinai Hospital. After viewing Dr. Li's video on the Sinai website, I was confident enough to begin the process with her.

At the informational session, I was impressed by Dr. Li's thorough, yet understandable presentation about the various surgical options. Scheduling my appointments was pretty easy, and the office staff seems quite competent. Dr. Li's nurse and the nutritionist in the office are friendly, competent and, best of all (in my humble opinion), very responsive.

I was provided with a comprehensive manual which answered almost every question I had.

Dr. Li asks you to choose which surgery interests you, which could be confusing for some, but, I do believe that if she believes a specific procedure would be the best for you in your situation, she would guide you appropriately.

Communication was clear and thorough, and I haven't felt rushed at any of my appointments. I think that Dr. Li has pretty high expectations from her patients, which isn't a bad thing. For me, it makes me feel that she believes in my ability to follow the program and be successful. Now 10 days post-op, I'm looking forward to continuing my journey with Dr. Li and her staff as support.

I have been a patient of Dr Li for five years. Dr Li did my surgery and was very good and attentive. I experience an reaction from the anesthesia after my surgery and when Dr Li was informed of this she came into the hospital right away on her day off. I have since attended support groups at the hospital and Dr Li is always there to answer any questions. Dr Li treats her patients like its your first time seeing her. She is very compassate and caring. If I have to do my surgery all over again I could not let anyone do it but Dr Li. In my opinion she is the best and I would highly recommend her to anyone getting this surgery.

Dr Li is an asset to her profession. She invests time in each patient, has a great sense of humor, and makes sure you understand the procedure you are considering. Her staff is helpful, friendly and responsive.

Dr. Li is amazing! She is an extremely professional, straight- shooter who will spend adequate time addressing your concerns and fully preparing you for your procedure and recovery. Her staff is also very attentive and will do all possible to ensure you achieve success. Having the VSG procedure was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I've lost 39 lbs in 8 weeks, and I feel terrific. The procedure was tolerable and the recovery was fast and pain-free. Dr. Li provides you with a complete manual during your first visit which will provide all the details and information you will need. If you take the time to read the manual, and follow her instructions, you'll be amazed how successful your journey will be. I would recommend Dr. Li to anyone.

I'm only 9 days post surgery and I have lost almost 16 pounds. Dr.Li has been nothing but wonderful to me. She explains things so that you understand everything and she is so professional. Her office staff are wonderful and compassionate to your every need. They treat me just like I'm family. So glad I made a great choice of Dr.Christina Li as my surgeon.

Dr. Christina Li is one of the nicest doctors I have ever met. She was very attentive to all my questions and concerns concerning my surgery. She has encouraged me through out this whole process and made my decision to have the surgery very easy. I loved that she and her staff have gone above and beyond to help me with my current insurance problems after my surgery. Dr. Li's staff is very well trained and they have always been available to answer any questions I may have. In addition, Dr. Li made the surgery almost completely painless so my recovery has been great as well as her bedside manner. Dr. Christina Li is very personable and very compassionate. Her entire office has been an absolute pleasure to work with. This is not the kind of doctor's office that you walk in and shake the surgeon's hand. This is the kind of office where you walk in the surgeon greets you with a hug and provides encouragement to you throughout your journey. She was very informative and understanding. There were so many steps to this process but the office staff was always there with an answer or ready to offer assistance.
The six month waiting period required by insurance company seemed endless in the beginning but before I new it I was scheduling surgery 9/20 I was sleeved.

First impression of Dr Li was of a bright energetic woman who can see things without being told. The saying that doctors and cops just know things about people holds true.

Dr Li prepared me well for what to expect and knows what she is doing. No doubt she is confident and competent. She misses nothing. Her department is a reflection of her own standards.

I am a road warrior. Getting to the required classes was difficult for me as I am not home often. Some of the classes were in webinar format which was helpful.

If you are considering surgery, do not underestimate the time and commitment required to prepare.

Instead of just saying that Doctor Li is great, I recommend her, etc. I decided to put pen to paper and invest some time to provide examples of how she and her team impressed me-

Dr Li and staff remember me, where I travel, etc. They give me ideas and warnings on how to care for myself, how hard it will be to get protein in Tokyo that I will slide back to carbs - rice. Things I had not put much thought into they already had.

I am going to be in a 3rd world country most of the upcoming few years. She had her staff researched the country and doctors, and even contacted a physician there herself. She is insisting I present myself so they are prepared and can follow up on me and that she can remain informed and offer help as well.

I had gotten a personal phone call from Dr. Li after my checkup this week. She was preparing to brief my primary care physician on my surgery and progress and care. She noticed I had switched primary care physicians to a doctor at a Patient First franchise. She actually called me herself to make sure that I was really using the doctor as a primary care physician and not just to have a doctor listed on my form, she was concerned and explained why.

Everything in Dr Li's office is up to her standards, she has created a very efficient, respectful, sharp environment.

She does not miss a thing, she will not fail, like I am as important to her as if I was one of her friends from university or such, like she is personally vested in my success.

It was not easy for me to ask for help in the first place, and what I have gotten back from Dr Li and her staff was caring, humanity, and commitment.

I wish any one reading my posting, thinking of surgery, can have the same luck I have had.

This is not just a job for Dr. Li. She is special.
