Very nice guy. Completely explained everthing.
It has not change so far.
Wonderful. Large people are usually self-consious regarding skinny peoples thoughts and actions toward us. They made me feel great, not self-consious at all. They even had big furniture in thier office. Yea!!!
He does not quite appreciate my sense of humor.
I have had my surgery. Dr. Bollmann was absolutely fantastic! He was affirming, supportive, his bedside manner is impeccable, he holds back no information that is needed in the recovery process, he is caring and concerned and he is an advocate for the surgery he performs. What could have been a horrible experience turned out to be one of the best hospital experiences I have ever had. Rating Dr. Bollmann is not difficult: A+++++
I am preop with surgery on Valentine's Day.
Dr Bollman seems to be a great guy. His nurse Eileen gave me his home phone number. I was impressed. He took his time to make sure that I had no questions. Eileen and the rest of the staff are great.
The Liv-Lite program seems to be very well designed with all the support I need. Patty Maycroft directs the local program and she was great.
I'm concerned about Thursday, but knowing that Drs. Bollman and Stevens have done over 115 procedures with only 1 problem requiring a fix makes me feel better.
More as I get through this.
He and his staff are fabulous. They were very thorough and didn't try to sugarcoat anything. Dr. Bollman was straightforward and willing to answer all questions. Patty Maycroft the Liv-Lite director is wonderful too, she helped me get insurance approval and has been very helpful in answering questions. They had me talk to a nutritionist already also, letting me know what to start buying as far as groceries and the different stages I will be going through. I am so nervous, yet excited for March 20, 2002.
My first impression of him was he's very serious about what he does. I was very impressed with his knowledge and his persistence in making sure I understood exactly what would take place with the Open RNY. He answered every question I had and he even drew pictures! When I wasn't making eye contact with him I was staring at his hands, he has very steady hands, which was very important to me with a procedure of this magnitude. I didn't want any Oops'during surgery. He was also very sympathetic to my weight loss past. He didn't judge me as a failure. He was very optimistic that this surgery would work for me IF I used the pouch properly. My impression of him has stayed the same from my first visit to my 2 week post op check. His office staff, especially his nurse Eileen, is wonderful!!! She has been such a wonderful source of support for me. She shows so much compassion for her patients. She called me nearly everyday after my surgery just to make sure I was doing ok and to offer advice on how to cope with the pain, my new diet, sleeping, etc. I would rate Dr. Bollman as a 10 on scale of 1 to 10. In my opinion surgical competence, which Dr. Bollmand definitely has is more important than bedside manner, he's a little "rough" and doesn't have much of a sense of humor but he knows what he's doing. Its nice to have a doctor with both but sometimes its not possible.
I enjoyed the time with my surgeon very much, my husband
was with me and Dr. made both of us aware of the risks
the after care and life style changes that will be permanent.
The office staff was very kind and went out of their way to make
things easy for us. We were not rushed @ all and every body was
sooo kind and understanding.
10/23/01 I met Dr. Bollman and his staff today for the first time. He is very knowledgable, and took a lot of time to see that both my husband, and myself were understanding every detail of the surgery, possible complications, and after care. I had a very good impression of the livlite staff, and my nutritionist.
Dr. Bollman's staff are wonderful. His nurse is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She made us feel completely at ease!!. I don't have anything negative to say at this time at all. Due to my insurance suddenly changing, the nurse worked extremely hard to get me a surgery date prior to the chg of insurance!! I could kiss her feet for all the extra work she put in on my behalf!!
Dr. Bohlman is a fantastic person. He spent a great deal of time with me, explaining everything about the surgery, what to expect pre and post operative, etc.
I appreciated the fact Dr. Bohlman gave me the worst case senario. I almost felt as if they try to talk a patient out of the surgery ... merely to get a feel for how serious and committed a person is to an entire lifestyle change. The risks of the surgery are clearly listed and each risk is explained, along with the prevalance of each. Dr. used pictures to describe the surgery and the potential risks. I feel they don't want to risk doing surgery on person that feel the WLS is an 'easy out.'
I cannot say enough about the office staff. Everyone is friendly, concerned and empathetic.
Aftercare is an integral part of the Liv-lite program. The program stresses good support, before, during and for life. There is support meetings and the entire staff is available and knowledgable about everything. In addition, Dr. is very concerned about your overall health when you go home, so they take step (such as injectible blood thinners, etc) to insure your personal safety when you go home.
I would rate Dr. Bohlman as high as I possibly can.
Let's see ... I am trying to find something 'negative' to say as the help list says that a completely 100% positive review is suspect ... but I am afraid I will have to get back to you on that :-)
Dr Bollman is a great guy. When I met with him he was so helpful and explained the procedure to me and made sure I knew what was going to happen to me. He was very thorough and was so very nice. His nursing staff was awesome too. So far everyone has been extremely nice and so very helpful to me. I would recommend him to anyone who wanted to have this procedure and was looking for a surgeon. The Geary County Community hospital has the Liv-Lite program which is conducted by Patty who is a great inspiration as well. She is so knowledgable and answers all questions. I feel so lucky to live so close to a great program.
