Charles A. Svendsen Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I absolutely loved him. He had nothing but time for me. I wasn't rushed at all. I am very confident in my decision to have him do the surgery and I am very happy with Barb Johnson his nurse. Aftercare is the most important part of success. The surgery is the tool, it's what you do with it that matters. I believe his surgical competence and his bedside manner make for a fabulous surgeon, and he is it!!!
Dr. Svendsen was excellent. He was great before, during and after surgery. He was concerned about my well-being at all stages. His interaction with my family was heart-felt and informative. Sunny Sommers-Klein, PA spent time with me to ease the pain and truly cared about my well-being. Drs. Svendsen and Klein made sure I was doing well. Barb Johnson, RN has been a blessing. A big thank-you to everyone within the Park Nicollet/Methodist Hosp. Bariatric Department.
Dr. Svendsen was very informative and very nice. He told me how proud he was of my weight loss prior to surgery. And assured me that it would help me get back on my feet faster. The Staff at Park Nicollet are wonderful. My nurse was Kurt and he was patient and kind thru the whole pre-approval process. They were totally up front about the risks and really emphasize that this is only a tool, not a cure all. I would do this all over again with Dr Svendsen!
My first impression on Dr Svendsen was that he was very informative and completely caring. He took lots of time to answer my questions and never seemed in a hurry. He made sure to be very honest about the procedure and the pro's and con's to having it done as well as explained the types of complications that could occur.
Barb Johnson, Dr. Svendsens nurse is completely the best, shes VERY honest and so funny! Guarenteed to make you feel comfortable and laugh a little :)
I feel very confident in my decision to choose Dr Svendsen and his team, they seems great and their program -- before and after has been so thorough!
My husband and I enjoyed meeting with Dr Svendsen. We found him easy to talk with and he answered my questions thoroughly. His office staff is great, they have been really accomodating and worked with me to get my surgery scheduled before my sister leaves the country for six months.
Their program places a lot of emphasis on structured aftercare program to help their patients succeed.
Dr Svendsen did address the risks of surgery - including death (1 in 300). When I blurted out "How many of yours have died?" he started laughing and said "You know, I think everyone is THINKING that but usually people don't actually ask that question...but the answer is ZERO." ...good enough for me! I need a surgeon that can laugh and be honest...and have a clean record.
So far, I would give Dr Svendsen two thumbs up!
My first impression of Dr. Svendsen was that he was very thorough and professional. He answered all my questions. I was anticipating a 4-1/2 hour surgery time because of adhesions from previous surgeries; but he completed the procedure in 2 hours and I had no complications! His office staff have been very helpful and kind. The aftercare is highly emphasized; and is very structured. I would rate him as excellent with both great surgical competence and great bedside manner.
Dr. Svendsen is a wonderful, knowledgeable, excellent surgeon and a marvelous human being. He really seems to personally care about his patients and only wants what is the best for them. He has a way of making his patients feel comfortable with him and also has a great sense of humor.
I had a leak post-op (someone has to make those darned stats don't they? LOL) and he was there to see me just about every day of the 20 days I was in the hospital. He was genuinely concerned for my well-being and took a very cautious course of action to make certain that I would have a great outcome.
I have only good things to say about Dr. Svendsen and his surgical abilities and have told many people how highly I feel about him and how much confidence I have in him.
I have only met Dr Svendsen once so far. During my surgical consult I found him to be very personable, humorous and informative. He answered all my questions. I never felt rushed, although I did not take a lot of his time either. I am very impressed by the office staff and the overall quality and organization of the program. I contacted many WLS programs and went through the entire process in 3 different programs. This one was by far the most organized and easiest to navigate, mostly because you see all the "workup" staff at the same place on mostly on the same day - the psychologist, dietitian, physical therapist and a physician.
I was very excited to finally meet Dr. Svendsen. He was everything that I had hoped for in a surgeon. He was very easy to talk with as well as being attentive to my health needs. I had heard good things about him from his nurse Barbara, who had already had the WLS. Barba is funny and serious. I would rather stay on her good side.
Dr. Svendsen answered all of my questions and encouraged me to ask more questions.
I like hoe the WLS program is set up at PNC which is the reason that I chose to go there. Aftercare will be important in my being able to maintain my weight loss. I know that I will get out of it, what I put into it.
Dr. Svendsen was very honest about the risk and I told him that I was going to be a very good patient. I know that I will be in good hands.
