Charles A. Svendsen Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Just met him on the 27th of February and am so relieved. I started off the process just looking for a place that I felt comfortable and hoping to find someone along the way. The nurse I worked with at Park Nicollet was the one that chose him for me and I am SOOO very glad he did! He's extrmely nice, very patient, was really good about putting me at ease and I feel so fortunate to have him as my surgeon. He was very upfront in telling me all the risks about surgery and let me know exactly what he expected out of me before being released after surgery. rnrnSince I only got to meet him for about 20 minutes I can't really say a whole much more about him aside from that I really liked him and felt comfortable with him doing my surgery.rn
Dr. Svendsen was a wonderful surgeon. I was really very nervous when I first met him and he was a very personable and down to earth person. He put all of my fears to rest and I was very calm and trusting going into surgery. I was also very pleased at how soon I was able to get in for my surgery I had less than 2 weeks to wait, but I am not sure if this is normal or not. The day of my surgery he came and visited me prior to my surgery in case I or my parents had any questions. After surgery he visited me twice checking to make sure all was going well. The aftercare is well structured by the nurses and dietician heworks with and I feel confident that they will help guide me along my journey. Park Nicollet also has a great support group that meets twice a month, which is very helpful. I would reccomend Dr. Svendsen to anyone!
My first impression was that Dr Svendsen was very personable and would be good with dealing with my family on surgery day. I thought that his office staff was good and as I have had a few more appointments with them, I continue to feel more comfortable. Unfortunately, in this program, you really don’t get to know the surgeon very well. I basically met Dr. Svendsen once after I received my approval from my insurance company. Dr. Svendsen spent a good deal of time talking to me about risks and potential complications, however, he also took time to tell me about his various stats and helped to put my mind at ease. After the surgery, I saw Dr. Svendsen every morning in the hospital. He didn’t spend much time with me, but I felt he would have spent more had I asked questions or had concerns. Overall I was happy with Dr. Svendsen, I would definitely recommend him to someone who was looking to have this procedure. I thought that all in all he was skilled and based on the limited time I spent with him I thought he had a good bedside manner and was very competent.
Totally neat guy. Personable, down to earth, answered any/all questions I had, promised to coordinate my medications and various medical issues with my primary care physician and others involved in my pre-op care.rnrnBarb Johnson, Dr Svensen's nurse, is a hoot! She first and foremost cares about the patients she's dealing with. Dry sense of humor, but very experienced and able to handle difficult situations.rnrnAbdolutely no complaints about staff, process, or facilities.rnrnThis office advocates a very strong, structured aftercare program.rnrnThey were very frank about identifying the risks involved in this type of surgery, but their surgical record speaks for itself. I have the fullest confidence in Dr Svensen and the Park Nicollet Bariatric Surgery program.rnrnMy initial dealing with Dr Svensen was great.rnI feel both competence and bedside manner are important.
