Calvin Selwyn is great! He's very personable and friendly. His knowledge of weight loss surgery is superb. His pysician's assistant, Anne Erisman is fantastic! She is compassionate and takes a great deal of time answering questions. The UC Center for Surgical Weight Loss Center's Program is very comprehensive. I can see a registered dietician (Aaron Dorfman, and he's great, too!) any time I want free of charge. I have already had two post-op visits with the surgeon and I am only 6 weeks out! They really want to make sure you are doing well after the surgery. I feel like I am in excellent hands! I am happy to report that I have had no complications, so far. They were very honest about the risks of the surgery. Overall, I would rate Dr. Calvin Selwyn a 10 out of 10! He has the total package - great bedside manner and exceptional surgical competence!

Dr Selwyn is a great person and I felt that he was very interested in me as a person and that I was not just a number to him. He was very diligent in explaining everything to me and was very patient with my questions and answered each one of them. The office that he is a part of are each caring and compassionate people. The thing that has impressed me the most is the amount of education to the patient that goes into this program. I have three other family members who have had this surgery and I have received more educational materials than all of them combined and they are looking at my educational tools to help them through the post op process.

I had WLS on 12-15-04 with the great Dr. Calvin Selwyn in Cincinnati Ohio. My first impression of Dr. Selwyn was that he was extrememly knowledgeable and caring. There was nothing about his persona that I did not like. I feel like he is my "Angel on Earth." He came and talked to me and my family right after surgery, like he promised he would. He addressed with me everything I needed to have answered and he also allowed me time to speak my concerns, which were very few. If I had to rate Dr. Selwyn I would rate him as a 10 all around. His office staff is no less than perfect. Anytime I called, I got answers.

I was very impressed with Dr. Selwyn, he didn't sugar coat anything. He told me about his experiences with the surgery, complications, what he expected from me and then wanted to know what I expected of him. Nothing fancy, just earning my trust...and a helluva nice guy to boot. He was very thorough in going over the entire program with me and I never felt rushed or felt like there was someplace else he needed to be. I also got the impression that this was not a surgical center that was like a factory. they spend time with the patients and don't just do the procedures and then let you run off into the sunset... it really does appear that they care.

The only negative that I have found are that some of the people who answer the phones are rude and the person that schedules surgeries was rude to me more than once.

Dr. Selwyn was very professional and easy to talk to. Office staff very supportive and helpful. There is a structured aftercare program, and follow up is stressed. He addressed all the risks and benefits for surgery.
