I was very happy with Dr. Selwyn and his staff. My first impression was that he was extremely knowledgeable and confident in the procedure. I did not always like what he told me, but he helped me understand what was best for my long term health. The staff was very helpful and understanding. Future patients should know that he is not just concerned with your weight loss, but with your overall health. He is a strong believer in the commitment to daily exercise and proper diet/nutrition. He is very straightforward about the risks and rewards of the surgery. His program has an excellent aftercare program and monthly support group meetings. My experience was very successful and I have maintained my weight loss thanks to Dr. Selwyn and his staff. I highly recommend his program. I got my life back and can now enjoy an active lifestyle and will be around to enjoy my future grandchildren.

Going into this journey for me was scary and embarrasing....which as an overweight person for most of my life you would think id get used too. NOPE.. I trembled as I walked into the seminar and took my seat. I allready had Physicians tell me I was overweight, unhealthy, and if I didnt change well... I didnt want to here yet again..".You are your problem, you are slowly comitting suicide and it needs to stop if you want to live." NOT once so far in this journey which started in 03/11, have I been belittled or told Im overweight, unhealthy, etc. Dr.Selwyn and his staff allready know why Im there, they dont throw it in my face,or remind me that yes I did do this to myself.Instead they,Dr. Selwyn,Pat R.N,Veronica L.P.N,Christine RD CD Dietician,Terry PsyD,Jackie therapist, and Darla data specialist, help us to realize HOW we got there and HOW to get back to HEALTHY! I am enjoying my journey and learning alot about myself, both physically and mentally. I have a long road ahead of me but i know that with this team behind me and cheering me on, I YES ME, that fat girl who used to be,will be on the LOSERS bench in no time!!!!!

Dr. Selwyn and his team came highly recommended to me. At an informational meeting regarding the beginning process, I was completely impressed. He answered every question that everyone had, and went above and beyond and answered questions that some may not have thought to ask.

He and his staff were completely sympathetic and showed a great deal of care and courtesy. The program was not the closest for me, but the drive was so worth it. Dr. Selwyn told me he was a confident, yet paranoid surgeon. This meant a lot to me, because I worried about having another blood clot after surgery. He made sure to have me see a specialist and get his recommendations for post care. And no blood clots!

I often had to wait much longer than expected for appointments, but I feel the wait was and continues to be well worth it. Once he arrives, his time is for me and he is so very competent and genuine. He is straight forward, yet very kind.

I'm so glad this was my team. This was the third time trying for surgery in five years. I truly feel like the third time was my charm, and everything was meant to be!

I was impressed with Dr. Selwyn from the get-go! He knows his "stuff". He and his entire team are totally dedicated to bariatrics and it shows in the care I receive.
The aftercare program is very supportive. Besides having regularly scheduled appointments with Dr. Selwyn and with the dietitian, we have support group meetings once a month. The bariatric coordinator and dietitian are just a phone call away whenever any questions arise.
I would recommend Dr. Selwyn to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery.
My experience thus far has truly been totally positive. I can't think of anything that could have been done differently or better. It's been a very enjoyable experience. I believe my success is due to my hard work and their dedication.

The first inmprestion i had on my surgon was hmm i think he is going to be good for me. In the information seminar, he took the time to answer your questions that you had he also told you it was going to be work. Work before surgery and work after surgery and this was going to a tool you use the rest of your life. you either followed it and used it right and you will have the succsess you want. If you dont want to use the tool to your full potential then you will regain the weight back.

I first heard about Dr. Selwyn at a support group meeting up in Woodruff/Minocqua from some of the people at the meeting. I first met him in Rhinelander at one of his seminars, he does a lot of them. He seemed very confident in his abilities right from the start. I met with him a couple of times before surgery and he reassures you that he will do everything possible on his end to make this surgery very positive for you. He will also explain that you need to do your job and together the surgery can be a huge success. I had surgery on Dec. 3 2008 and I am now 6 weeks post opt and have had no complications and vey successful weight loss. The staff in the hospital was great, and the staff for the follow up appts. has also been great. Overall I was very happy with Dr. Selwyn and the hospital. I think he is one of the most knowledgable bariatric surgeons in the state and that makes you feel so much more confident when having the surgery. I am glad I chose him as my doc.

I first met Dr. Calvin A. Selwyn, Jr. in the spring of 2007 at one of his informational seminars. After listening to him for an hour I knew instantly that I seriously wanted to continue forward with having the Laparoscopic Adjustable Banding (LAP-BAND) done. Dr. Selwyn had a \"calmness\" about him during this seminar. I could tell he was the type of person that really cared about his patients and their journeys to becoming healthier people. rnrnWith officially joining the program in June 2007, I can honestly say that I am sorry I didn't do it sooner!! After completeing all the insurance requirements in December 2007, I was finally approved by the end of Jan. 2008 and Dr. Selwyn did my lap band surgery on Feb. 6, 2008! Since then Dr. Selwyn and his staff have been so supportive. As odd as it sounds, I actually look forward to going to any weight loss related appointments because I am so proud of what I have accomplished thus far and I owe it all to Dr. Selwyn and his wonderful staff!!!

Where to begin about Dr. Selwyn...I first met him in September 2006. That day changed my life forever. Any fears, questions, and anxiety quickly diminished. Dr. Selwyn is a very compassionate, straight forward man. I had the \"honor\" of being his first bariatric patient here in Stevens Point after he came here from Ohio. I hope I am making him proud. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering having bariatric surgery. He is extremely knowlegable . I had my surgery November 9th, 2006 with a starting weight of 256 at 5'6\" tall. I am now 10 months post-op and weigh 148. I am very thankful to him for giving me the tools to change my life. Don't get me wrong..it wasn't all a bed of roses. It is not a magical cure. It takes alot of hard work and good choices but Dr. Selwyn and his staff helped me down the path.
