Dr. Carlin immensely rocks! He is personnable, precise and professional. I went into surgery on Feb 1st 2016 in a size 18. I just bought size 8 jeans. Dr. Carlin, Wanda S. and the entire staff are my Super Heroes!

Dr. Carlin is awesome. The program at Henry Ford Hospital is great. They make site you have the resources you need to be successful. Highly recommend the program and Dr. Carlin.

Dr. Carlin is fantastic, he has excellent professionalism , he is concern about his patients health as well as concerns . Dr.Carlin make you feel comfortable about asking him any questions as well as comfortable and confident with your surgery choice. Dr. Carlin entire team is fantastic. I had met with two surgeons prior to Dr. Carlin and he was the only one I felt comfortable with and knew from first impression he was the surgeon I wanted. I would highly recommend him to everyone . When I decided to look into WLS, I went to several seminars. I ended up deciding on Henry Ford Main in Detroit with Dr. Carlin. I liked that they had a very structured program, and it helped that Dr. Carlin had a great bedside manner, was very kind, caring, and never rushed appointments. He always took the time to answer any questions I had in depth. On day of surgery he made me feel completely at ease and I trusted him 100%. I do not regret my decision to have surgery with Dr. Carlin! He's definitely the best-of-the-best in my eyes and would recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery! I am now 3.5 years post-op VSG and maintaining my 151 lb weight loss! THANK YOU Dr. Carlin!

Dr Carlin seems to very happy,confident and professional, all in one. He smiled a lot and made me feel so welcome. As well he was very informative and emphasized support groups and aftercare. They have a structured aftercare program that involves a support group, a place to exercise etc.I found the support staff at Henry Ford Hospital to be very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend Dr Carlin at HFH to someone seeking weight loss surgery as my surgery and recovery went so good it amazed me. I feel that Dr Carlin exhibited wonderful surgical competence and bedside manner. He even discovered that I had a very nasty hiatus hernia that managed to fix for me during my surgery. I owe him so much.

The first impression of Dr Carlin was very comfortable he answered my questions and concerns and even my adult son's concerns. His support staff was excellent. I never felt hurried at any appointments and was always given 100%. Future patients should know that Dr Carlin is the best and not only in personality but in patient care both before and after surgery. The risks of the surgery were always discussed so I knew what I was going to have done. Dr Carlin and Henry Ford Main Hospital in Detroit I would rate the experience as Excellent!! I think Dr Carlin and Henry Ford Hospital have the total package of surgical competence, bedside manner, knowledgeable and patient support staff.

Dr. Carlin is an awesome doctor with a wonderful bedsider manner who looks out for his patients best interest and even with him having countless patients everyday you feel like it's only you when he walks through that door and has that smile on his face.

I'm glad I had him as a surgeon who allowed God to watch over him as he operated on me!

What was your first impression of him/her? rn Dr. Carlin was impressive. Dr. Carlin was easy to talk with. I was impressed because he has the ability to see past the store front, so to speak. I stated that she, my daughter, went to the gym with me when my other best friend could not, Dr. Carlin was quick to make note that I considered my daughter to be my one of my best friends. You just know when you meet good people. I felt that he was a good person. I really liked his demeanor. Dr. Carlin was easy to talk with.rnrnHow would you describe his/her office staff? rn The office staffs were friendly and professional. And the Nurse and PA (Elisa) were both professional and efficient.rn Dr. Tour and Elisa are Dr. Carlin’s PA’s, they do a terrific work. The both have good bedside manners and make you feel comfortable when documenting your information. Wonderful Wanda, She is famous you know! She is listed in the credits of one of the required reading books. She is truly an angel and I can’t say enough about her and those great organizational skills. Everyone was extremely nice and could not make me feel relaxed enough. My questions were address with most professionalism, and to my satisfaction. Nutrition, support group, exercise, education, medical and emotional support are addressed.rnrnHow did he/she address the risks of surgery? rn Most of this information was covered in the orientation, given by the head RN, Wanda.rn How would you rate him/her overall? rn I think he is a 10. I have no complaints. All my needs were addressed before I experienced them.rn Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?rn I think he excels in both, and is a well rounded surgeon.rnrn I am truly satisfied that my journey took me to Henry Ford Hospital and Dr. Carlin and the Bariatric Center.rn

I really liked Dr. Carlin when I met him. His office staff was very knowledgeable and pleasent. Dr. Carlin was straightforward, but respectful and caring. He answered all of my questions throughly, and I had a lot of questions!! He talked a lot about after care, and emphasized the role of the dietician, and the heath psychologist, as well as the role of exercise. He frankly discussed the risks of surgery, and talked about co-morbid conditions. He was also very clear about NOT having surgery if I was ill, why not, and promised he would get me in as soon as I was well. I haven't had the surgery yet, but so far he gets 10/10. I think that both competence and bedside manner are important in different ways. I want a surgeon I am comfotable with, but that doesn't help if they are an idiot in the OR. On the other hand, they may be brilliant in the OR, but if I don't feel comfortable discussing something with them, then they may not have information that they need.
