Alex Argotte Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Argotte has been wonderful to me and to my very outspoken mother (who was my "support person" through my surgery). He takes the time to go over everything and answers any question you have. I had went to another Dr. in Nashville originally and was told that even though I had a minor heart problem and asthma that I wouldn't need a consult with a cardiologist or pulmonologist. Dr. Argotte didn't see it that way and I am glad! He seemed like he was very concerned about my overall health INSTEAD OF just the money he'd make off of doing the surgery, like the Dr. in Nashville implied. Cindy, his nurse, has been GREAT too! Anytime I have had a question or issue, I can talk to her and she takes care of it! He also works with a great dietitian at Lourdes Hospital. Susan Mason-Tarr goes over the entire surgery with you again. She has a wonderful "diet" set up for the patients and she meets with you as at the beginning of each new phase of the diet. She is also available by telephone or email for any questions you might have. Overall, I have had a GREAT experience with my surgeon, hospital and staff. Without them, I wouldn't be the "loser" I am today! :) The only "problem" I've had is long wait times in the office, but he's a busy man and waiting is a small price to pay.

Dr Argotte is very informative. He seems to want to be sure that this is the best alternative for the patient. Office staff have been very helpful so far.

Dr Argotte and his whole staff are wonderful!!!!!!!! He is very informative and i think he really cares about his patients. I like that he is upfront and blunt and tells you all the risk and benefits. He does testing to make sure you are able to handle the surgery and explains them very well. He really expressed the urgency of aftercare and the nutrionish. i have had my surgery and found Dr. ARgotte to be very professional. I have had a few complications and he is always right on top of the problem and there to fix it. I am very happy with my choice of Doctors.

I am pending for surgery. I have had all my pre-surgery tests and meetings all done and now I am just waiting for insurance approval and a surgery date.
My first impression was that he wanted to make sure that I really wanted this surgery. He was very clear at describing the procedure (didn't use HUGE medical terms and if he did he explained them).
My impression over the last 6 months has just gotten better and so far I haven't found anything about him that I don't like. I was a bit nervouse about the open procedure, which is his preference,but after he explained why he likes it better then the laproscopic it just made me like him all the more. Made me feel like he has my best interest at heart.
Out of 1-10 Dr. Argotte gets a 10. I will update this after my surgery.

My first consult with him was wonderful, he was very polite, and went over all the pros and cons, he also had a woman, Lee Ann Powers there at my appointment, she is the bariatric coordinator at Lourdes hospital, where I'll be having my surgery. She is great, she had the surgery herself a few years ago, she told me if I have any questions or problems or anything to call her anytime!
I have been seeing him since October '03, the only thing I wish was better was that his office would return calls sooner, I guess since he's the only Doctor in this part of the area that does this surgery, he stays really busy!!

I liked him very much and feel very confortablt with him. his office is #1. he is #1 and i thank him for helping me save my life. i have surgery on 11/26/03

Dr Argotte is super. I feel very comfortable with him. He was straight to the point. I am looking forward to my surgery now where I was terrified. His staff has been great to work with. It was a little hard for me to find but I was 5 hrs away. he stress the dietian appointments. and the need to watch for blood clots.at this point we haven't gone into alot of detail about aftercare yet. will post more on that later. lut he has made me feel better about this surgery and that he has my best intrest in mind.

I really liked Dr. Argotte. He was very imformative about the surgery and the problems that can occur with having it done. It was all a little bit scary but he makes sure that you know what can happen which is good. His staff was very helpful and friendly. I was late for my appointment and they squeezed me in because they did not want me to go home without having my consultation. I thought that was very considerate. I have to have some further tests done and then submit my request for surgery to my insurance company. They will help me do this at his office. Dr. Argotte has a very structured aftercare program and is adament about follow up care, which is good that way he can be sure that you are doing what you are suppose to.

Haven't met him yet. My first appointment is July 28th, 2003. Just after talking with Cindy, his receptionist, and after reading what others have written, this may work out. I will post more once I meet him.

Well, I had my first appointment with Dr. Argotte and I feel that I have made an excellent choice for my surgeon. Even though I knew everything ahead of time, he still took time to ask some "silly" questions I had, like how long it would be after surgery that I could drive. And even the not so silly ones, like how long do I have to wait after surgery to start lap swimming again. He made sure he told me that he is very strict when it comes to followup visits with him and Liz, the dietician. I like him very much and I think that things are going to be wonderful!!!

Very well spoken and did not seem to be in a hurry.

Office staff was very friendly.

He seems to be understanding and makes the patient seem like that are in good hands
