My surgery date was July 25, 2003.

I took my mother with me (she's a nurse) and we were both impressed with Dr. Aguirre and his team's professionalism. They are very good - my mom got to watch the surgery and she said they are just as sanitary and precisely professional in the surgery room as any she's seen in the US. In fact, she said this surgery was better performed than some she's witnessed state-side. All I know is that I had a successful surgery and recovery and have no complaints. A WORD OF WARNING, HOWEVER: Make sure you take someone with you who is knowledgeable in the medical field. There were some things that alarmed me (like blood backing up into the IV) and my mother explained that it was normal and that many, many people have that reaction and it's not a problem. Then my hand swelled - actually, I think my whole body puffed up and I was afraid I was having an allergic reaction. Mom reminded me that I read about that happening and had told her I was expecting it. What I didn't realize is that when it was my turn to experience these things, I forgot about what I'd learned. I needed someone to tell me while it was happening to me that I was on track and that everything would be OK. Afterwards, I looked back and said, duh, but when I was going through it, I was a baby and needed lots of support and encouragement from someone I trusted to know what the heck she was talking about.

I am looking forward to speaking and meeting with him in person. He has obviously became an extremely busy doctor. Although my email was not answered that same day; I did get a response from him within 72 hours. Which is fantastic seeing how I have been waiting for almost two weeks for a local doctor to contact me about an unrelated matter.
After actually meeting Dr. Aguirre in person, I discovered that he doesn't walk on water but is a perfectly wonderful person and a highly skilled surgeon. He has a great group of people working with him and I received excellent care while I was at Cardiomed. Dr. Estrella was very professional and Dr. Gomez keeps insisting I have to attend the next family reunion. It's a joke between us. There is NO relation between us but there is a distinct possibility that he may be a distant cousin of my ex-husband's therefore making him a relation of my son's. We're checking into it, especially since he looks a lot like my middle son!
The only criticism is that he could be more organized and I wish there were better after care instructions.

He sent me an email about his program within 24 hours of my contacting him.

I have only corresponded with Dr. Aguirre in emails. I am very impressed that he emails back so soon. I am looking forward to meeting with him in person.

Dr. Aguirre has been very responsive to me and my questions. I have spoken to him on two occasions and he seems very energetic and caring on the phone. I am confident that I have made the best choice for me in choosing him as my surgeon.

He is a great proffesional and a wonderful person. He is very informative about what is going to happen and could potentially happen as a result of surgery. He held nothing back pre-surgery and lets you know that this is not a miracle surgery and it will be a lot of work. His staff and assistant surgeon were equally as great. His aftercare program is a little vague but this is something that should be perfected with your own PCP or following doctor. I don't feel like I should expect him to have a very detailed aftercare program considering the fact that I probably will not see him again. As an overall surgeon he is definately a 10+.

My communication with Dr. Aguirre has been through emails.He is very quick in responses to your emails.He seems that he really cares for the whole you.

Dr. Aquirre performed my surg 10-28-03. I was very impressed with him. He was compassionate and kind. I feel he is extremely knowledgeable and competant as a surgeon. I would not hesitate to recommend others to use him. I was also very pleased with Dr. Gomez, Dr. Estralla, and his nursing staff.

I first met Dr. Aguirre when I accompanied my sister, CJ Cody, for her pre-op appointment in late August. I was initially skeptical and worried about my sister traveling to Mexico to have her surgery. I was somehow under the impression that only the 'best' options would be in the States... I'm sorry to say that I had quite an 'elitest' perspective. I went with intention of being my sister's protector. Well, I can tell you with just the first meeting and then the continued interactions with Dr. Aguirre, his assistant Dr. Estrella, his anethesiologist Dr. Gomez,the Cardio-Med Hospital staff and nurses, my sister and I couldn't have placed ourselves in more attentive, & caring hands. They looked after both of us! The receptionist bringing me coffee, the nurses checking frequently on CJ's needs. The attempts at communication with the hospital staff were mostly successful!! It's amazing how language barriers are overcome with kindness and compassion! A few of the nurses speak English, but most of them we were able to communicate with by hand gestures & our trusty English to Spanish dictionary! All three doctors speak English well, and communicate with great ease. Dr. Aguirre is very careful in his instruction about the surgery types available and explains what type of surgery he does. He explains the importance of following his or your own PCP's aftercare program very carefully. He explained the risks of the surgery, gives his 'track record' and is at all times trying to make very sure that everything is well understood.

Needless to say, I was totally inspired to take the step of having the surgery myself by the time we were ready to leave the hospital. If I had had my finances pulled together and there had been an opening then, I would have done it--I was that impressed! I have been in touch with Dr. Aguirre thru email and phone calls for the last several months and now have all the arrangements made and have a surgery date set. Yeah!!!

DR.AGUIRRE WAS VERY KIND AND GENTLE DR I,M VERY GRATFUL FOR HAVING MET HIM. HE DID MORE FOR ME THAN ANY OTHER DR EVER HAS.
