Dr. Schuricht is WONDERFUL thus far, his staff was very helpful and friendly. He knows his stuff, I didnt feel rushed, he answered ALL of my questions, even talked to me about some of my concerns. I look forward to my surgery, (of course), and I will definitely do what I'm supposed to before I get that size 12 up my butt!!!! :)

I specifically remember him holding my hand when they were giving me the anestesia that knocked me out.....that was nice!!!

Dr. Schuricht is a very kind and caring doctor, who doesn't talk down to his patients and is very straigtforward in telling patients what to expect from the surgery.

He is very invested in all his patients reaching their weight lost goals.

His office staff is very friendly and helpful.

What I least like about him is that he is not twins, so he can help and encourage even more patients!

He is a very good surgeon and excellent doctor.

He emphasizes aftercare very much and makes sure that his patients are comfortable and able to handle each step in achieveing their goals.

Yes, his aftercare program is structured in a way with regular post-op appointments, in at which time he also addresses any concerns/questions that the patient may have.

He goes over the risks of surgery in a very straightforward manner and makes sure that each patient makes an informed decision as to weather the surgery is right for them.

I would rate him as an excellent surgeon and doctor.

Dr. Schuricht is equally great in both his surgical competence and his bedside manner. While under his care in the hospital, he personnally checked in on me each day to tell me how great I was doing. He also came in right before I was taken into the O.R. to speak, reinsure and comfort me so that I went in the O.R. very calm and relaxed.

My first impression of Dr. Schuricht was that he was very down to earth and had a great personality. I just found out about an hour ago that my insurance approved my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon. The staff has also been very nice. They have a "please don't call us, we will call you" policy, which I was not fond of through the insurance approval waiting period, but that is just so they can give their full attention to their already scheduled and post op patients. I called my insurance company to get around this and they were actually the first ones to tell me that I had been approved. Then I called the office and scheduled my surgery. I would recommend Dr. Schurict to anyone thinking of the surgery. I am confident that he will perform a successful operation and that I will be on my way to a healthy weight!!

Dr. Schuricht is great. He met with me when I was having much discomfort with the LAP Band that was placed last year. He immediately took an interest in getting the band removed and doing the gastric bypass. I look forward to this surgery!

I loved Dr. Schuricht from the moment I met him. He was pleasant and friendly as well as open and honest about everything including the risks of having the procedure. He has a great sense of humor and that's what I personally need to take off the edge about going through the procedure. His entire staff was wonderful and very professional. He is very adamant about aftercare. He said he would made sure we're doing what we're suppose to do or else his foot will be up our behinds. He stressed that just because we had the procedure, he and his staff would not leave us high and dry. He would keep close watch on us for years to come. Out of a scale of 1 to 10. I would give him a 10+++++++

I have only met Dr. Schurict once during the initial consultation, but he seems very kind, open and knowledgable. I was so nervous that I really did not ask alot of questions. His office staff seemed to be very thorough. He insists on a lifetime of follow up so it seems he is very concerned about aftercare. I hope to get a better understanding of him on my next visit.

Now that surgery is over, I feel even more strongly that Dr. Schuricht was the right surgeon for me. I have a bit of a problem with his office staff, though. They always tend to be disinterested in me or my question. They do not return calls as they should.

One issue that needs to be made very clear is that Pennsylvannia Hospital is a teaching facility. Dr. Schuricht used residents extensively. I rarely saw Dr. Schuricht while in the hospital, but residents and interns wondered in droves. I would have liked seeing the surgeon a bit more and less of the residents. While I am sure that they did their job, very few introduced themselves or explained why they were there. Disconcerting to say the least.

On my first post-op visit, Dr. Schuricht took a great deal of time to explain things and made sure that he answered everyone of my questions. Very calming feeling after this visit. Office staff still bothers me though.

I went for my consult on Feb. 12 after a long wait of 10 months. Five people and I met with Dr. Schuricht in a conference room and he discussed to pros & cons of the surgery and was very straight forward about it. I liked that, then each of us had individual appointments following and he was very friendly and confident in discussing my needs due to different health issues that I have. The hopeful out come of the surgery is eliminating several medications that I take on a daily basis (12 pills and one insulin injection).
That is the reason I chose to have WLS. So now I am waiting to hear on Monday my surgery date and am starting to get butterflies in my stomach. Hope Dr. Schuricht can get them out.
Till next update, bye..............

My first impression of Dr. Schuricht was very favorable. I liked how he talked to us (group consult) and he has a great sense of humor and sarcasm... much like me. His office staff was WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! In addition to being a great person to talk to... he really knows what he's talking about. I know that post-op I will have no problems coming to him and discussing things with him. He also is very strict and will put his "size 12 up our butts" if we don't meet the goals that he sets for us... and that's exactly what I need. Post-op I will definitely update with everything else that happens.

He was very direct but in a very humanistic way. He is sensitive, but doesn't pull any punches. He is absolute in attempting to be certain that you are prepared for what to expect and he does it all in a very charismatic way. Great sense of humor.

Office staff have been very helpful and professional.

He is big on aftercare and schedules appointments accordingly. He spent about 3+ hours with me on our first meeting in a small group and individually. I then heard him address a support group for over an hour and I would say he was very upfront with the risks on all levels.

Overall, I am impressed with him although I am still pre-op. I will update after surgery, but I have very positive expectations!

Okay - I'm post op and still impressed with my surgeon!! He's been great and I'm happy with all areas of his care and competence!
