Dr Cribbens was great. My first impression of him was "oh my gos, he is so young" but he was wonderful and very kind and very informative.
His office staff was always kind and eager to answer my questions.
I can only say that he was great and I would recommend him highly to everyone that is considering doing any of the weight loss procedures.
I attended an information seminar given by Dr. Cribbins yesterday 12/7/04. I was first stuck by how young he is, but was quickly impressed with what I heard and saw. He explained all three procedures he does, including the benefits and potential risks. He spoke very candidly about the risks and didn't try to gloss over or sugar coat them. At the end of his discussion his Insurance coordinator spoke and answered our questions regarding the insurance approval process. I left feeling that I had a good understanding of the procedure (lap band)that's right for me and am looking forward to my consultation with Dr. Cribbins on 12/30/04.
Listened well and answered all my questions. I see him in the morning for my pre op visit.
I had problems with Andera the bariatic coordinator she was very rude, however she no longer works there and things are fine now.
There is now a great support group called Psy-Med that has weekly meetings. I have been to two of them and I am impressed. I will be going after the surgery. I am an RN and it does take a lot to impress me.
The risks of the surgery have been addressed. He has been preforming the open Roux-en-y for 4 years and has not lost a patient yet. ( I asked him). I can not give an overall rating until after the surgery.
I would rather have surgical competence anyday... I worked in the OR and great bedside manner will not keep you alive.
Dr. Cribbins is a soft spoken calm man. He seems flexible, capable, skilled and confident. He will not overstate what WLS can do for you. There are no miracles in this surgery as this is the second procedure Dr. Cribbins has done for me. He remained positive despite some setbacks and I trust him with being the medical professional in charge of my WLS. His staff on the other hands lacks punctuality and I've found the responsivness and ability to follow through on things beyond their ability at times. They are located in a great facility at Presbyterian Hospital. As for Aftercare, the first procedure, I had nil. The second procedure, I have been given a book to read. The aftercare is pretty slim, but I would say that my circumstances help to limit my ability to participate. I travel a lot during the week and weekend support groups seem to be non existent. I'm hoping to hook up with some form of support group even if I have to get it on the internet. That was a big mistake I made during the first failed procedure.
Dr. Cribbins is a very good Doctor. My first impression of him was that he looked really young, however he is really knows his stuff. His staff is very nice. He tries his best to make you feel comfortable and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. He believed that after care is very important. Dr. Cribbins addresses the risks very thoroughly and wants you to understand them. I would rate him a 9 on a scale of 1-10. His beside manner is great!
