University of Minnesota Physicians Bariatric Center
Dr. Ikraluddin was very professional. He presented the facts. He told us the benefits & the possible complications he also told us the likely hood of the complications.
His staff was very well put together too, they gave us a lot of information to take home & read.
There was nothing that I did not like about the Dr. He was great.
I did not hear anything about aftercare, well not much. They did talk about Dr. visit's & talked about nutrition & what would happen after surgery. I think i will learn more about that when I go in for my next appointment.
He did address the risks of surgery. The pros & cons.
I rate him very high a 10 out of 1-10. He was kind, compassionate & he listened to what I wanted.
So far his bedside manner is great, I have only read about his surgical competence.
I had my initial consult today with Dr. Ikramuddin. He seems to be very easy going and intelligent. He addressed the risks of the surgery and I know that even with the risks I still wantto have the surgery. I think I'll have a beter quality of life after I lose weight. He's very honest and takes the time to answer any questions you may have.

My first impression of Dr. Ikramuddin was that he was a very caring doctor. He makes you feel very comforatable. I am very happy that I have chose to have him do my surgery. So far my whole experience with Fairview University has been a good one. The aftercare program seems like it will be very helpful and is structured...but I am pre-op now, so I will have to update after surgery and let you know how things go.
Well, I am almost 2 months post op and things are going great! I'm down 40 pounds. Dr. Ikramuddin is the best and I would do this again in a minute! He is an excellent physician and a very caring person. I am so happy that I chose him. He has a very structured aftercare program and monitors you closely. He is upfront and honest with you. His office staff has been great to work with too. I have no complaints at all!
Dr. Ikramuddin has a rare combination of surgical competence and a wonderful bedside manner. I am one week out of surgery now and thank God that Dr. I was my surgeon. My surgery took twice as long as expected and he ran into some unexpected complications yet he was able to use his intelligence and skills to make sure I had a good outcome. At the same time he always made me feel as if I was part of the decision making team. I felt completely comfortable discussing my concerns and issues and also comfortable questioning some of his decisions..he did not become defensive but discussed things honestly with me. I would strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon.
His office is in a very busy University Clinic so it would be easy to just become another number but instead his nurse Joan and NP Donna made me feel as if I was their most important patient. I think that the insurance person needs a helper as it took weeks for insurance info to go out..but besides that problem everything has gone very smooth so far.
Dr. Ikramuddin is a very nice man, I myself work in the Health care industry and have heard nothing but extroidinary things about him and his surgical abilities. The staff are very nice, really busy.It would be nice if the initial visit was a little more personal and not as long. The addressed every aspect of the surgery, and seem very competent.
03/22/03- My impression of Dr I was a great one from the beginning. As a nursing student, I did a clinical rotation at Fairview University Medical Center. One day, I was invited to watch surgery from the OR. I was excited to learn that it was a GB, then I was even more excited to learn that Dr I was performing it with his resident. So, coming from my experience I can definetly tell you that Dr I is the best! I watched his skillful hands in the OR, I heard his reassuring voice to the patient in recovery. He is personable, pleasant, and just all around a nice guy. He is very busy and seems a little rushed at times, but don't let that fool you-he takes his time when it comes to his patients health and well-being. He is very "complete" in his practice. He checks everything and rechecks it again. He will answer any question you have with a truly honest answer.
His office staff is friendly only to a point and I can understand why. Every patient that I have seen in there, acts like they are the only patient that matters. As long as you realize that their goals are not the same as yours. You are focused on you and you only. They are focused on all patients and getting through the day. So we have to cut them a little slack. When you treat them with the respect and patience that you would want to be treated with, they are a truly wonderful bunch.
Overall, I'd give them a 10!
Impressions: When I first met Dr. Ikrammudin, I thought that he was very sincere and thoughtful. He seems highly intelligent and made some very powerful observations and recommendations. I look forward to having my surgery done by him.
Office Staff: I have spoken with Teresa, his office assistant, several times, she seems nice, but also seems terribly disorganized. See profile for more information on my personal experience. Donna (nurse), also seems nice. Geniunely concerned that things are as they should be.
Future Patients: Should know that you will need patience. Waiting for a clinic/consult date, waiting for the office staff to do their job, waiting for a surgery date and waiting for that date to arrive.
