University of Minnesota Physicians Bariatric Center
I have only met with Dr. Ikramuddin and really do like him. The office staff was very kind when I'm sure they get tired of people calling. The office took awhile getting my letter sent to my insurance company, but I was approved so that didn't matter to me much. So far there is nothing I don't like about Dr. Ikramuddin and have only heard good things about Dr. Schauer as well. They hold monthy support group meetings for their patients as well as other WLS patients. That is very important. I will have more to tell soon.
Dr. Ikramuddin will be doing my surgery now, not Dr. Schauer. It is okay with me though, I have only heard good things about him.
48 HOURS TO GO!!!!
Dr. Ikramuddin was and is a kind and patient Dr.He honestly answers all questions and does,in fact, encourage them.He has earned my trust...which,I might add, is not easily done! He works within a team of Drs. and nurses who make you feel that they are there for you .(very supportive) Some of the staff have had this same surgery so they know what you're going through. The only problem I can think of off hand is that they are so busy because of heavy case loads, you may have to wait a little longer in the waitingf room....beleive me...it's worth it.The Dr. and staff not only emphasise the importance of after-care,but also continuous follow-up care.Everthing you need to know about this surgery is given to you before and after surgery and all questions and or problems are addressed. The Drs. bedside manner is compassionate and competent with a mix of mild humor that helps get you through....as stated earlier, he and his staff have earned my trust and respect. If I had to rate them, I would have to give them an A+.
Dr. Ikramuddin came to me as a gift. I was originally scheduled for surgery with Dr. Philip Schauer on February 1,2000. I got a call the afternoon before and was told that due to some scheduling problems, my surgery would have to be postponed. I was crushed. After being emotionally prepared as well as completing the dreaded bowel prep, I could not handle the let down. I was offered the option of going to Presby instead of Shadyside and having Dr. Sayeed Ikramuddin, whom I had never met. I decided to go for it. It was no mistake. I met him in the a.m. an hour or so before the surgery and I just knew it was right. He was comforting and confident and looked well rested! I was relaxed and ready when they came for me and after my operation, Dr. Ikramuddin was reassuring that all went well. I have, to date, had no post-op complications and my visits with the Dr. have been nothing short of informative as well as reassuring. Dr. Ikrammudin seems to have a genuine commitment to changing the lives of people who battle obesity. I am proud and grateful to say that I am one of them.
