Toby Broussard, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Broussard was great. He is a very nice guy and he loves to talk.rnI have only gotten to see him 3 times, once for the seminar, once for consultation and once in the support group. The rest of this time I have been seeing an LPN, exercise person and dietician.rnThe office staff is extreamly helpful, kind and understanding.rnI feel that they are totally out for the patient and not for your money. rnThey are strict about the things you need to do pre-op but it is for our (the patient's) benefit.rnThey really want you to be a part of Support Groups and they are VERY CLEAR about everything. If you don't understand, just ask, they will explain.rnThe only negitive thing I have to say at all is that sometimes it takes awhile for the patient advocates to call you back, cause they are so busy. Other than that Nothing NEgaitve.rnThey are GREAT!!!rnSince I posted the above, there is a new patient advocate here named Julia, and I have to say, she is the BEST. I love her. She always answers my calls, the same day, usually within an hour or two. I feel blessed to have Julia as my patient advocate.
My first impression of Dr. Broussard was that he was very knowledgeable and a personable guy. He really makes himself available to answer questions and help any way he can. His office staff was also warm, friendly, and professional. Dr. Broussard really empasized the importance of making changes in your eating habits for life. The aftercare program is structured and is closely monitored by the dietician. The rish of surgury were addressed and seemed better than the average of other surgeons in the area, which is very promising. He is a very competent surgeon, and he also had a wonderful bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Broussard, his clinic, and the Foundation Bariatric Program for weight loss surgury.
My first impression of Dr. Broussard was that he was not only professional, but also very open and approachable. He really makes himself available to answer questions and help any way he can. His office staff was also warm, friendly, and professional. Dr. Broussard really empasized the importance of making changes in your eating habits for life. The aftercare program is structured and is closely monitored by the dietician. I do feel that I can't take full advantage of everything his program offers due to the fact that I live over 450 miles away. He is a very competent surgeon, and he also had a wonderful bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Broussard, his clinic, and the Foundation Bariatric Program for anyone thinking about WLS.
My meeting with Dr Broussard was on the phone, I'm from San Antonio Texas. I talked to him about having all the pre-op in SA thru weight wise. He went into depth with me about the surgery his main concern was that I was ready to make a lifestyle change. He was very patient and understanding it was like I was his only patient. He stayed in close contact with me prior to surgery. Because I had to travel to Oklahoma and my surgery was scheduled for Monday he meet with me on Saturday prior to my surgery, he didn't want our face to face meeting to be the morning of my surgery. Dr. Broussards staff at the office and hospital were excellent. I cant thank Dr. Broussard enough, I thank god for bringing him to me. Three days after my surgery Dr. Broussard wanted me to call him when I was leaving Oklahoma and when I got home and of course if I had any problems. I had no complications with the surgery and I'm on my way to being healthy. Thank you again Dr Broussard!
Dr. Broussard was speaking a the seminar I went to, I liked him then and I liked him even better after my first meeting. He is plainly spoken, pulls no punches, tells you exactly what you need to do before surgery.rnrnHad surgery on 6/2, Dr. B is still the best, his concern is only for his patients, he calls you at home, you have his cell number, I would recommend him to anyone thinking about this type of surgery. One my first check up, he spent alot of time making sure all my questions were answered, I can't say enough good things about him.
Dr. Broussard is very thorough in explaining the procedures, risks and results of WLS. He and his staff were wonderful through my entire process. The aftercare program is great at the center and Dr. Broussard strongly suggests the aftercare program. Dr. Broussard is the best surgeon I could have asked for. His surgical abilities and his bedside manners are phenomenal and he cares about each and everyone of his patients. I have and will continue to highly recommend him to anyone interested in WLS.
My first impression of Dr. Broussard was that he seemed to come across as a doctor who wants his patients well informed. My impression didn't change much other than I noticed toward the end that he seemed very comfortable with the group I was with. He came across more as a friend helping me to understand the processes of these surgeries. The office staff were very kind. Future patients should know that Dr. Broussard is very honest about the surgery that he performs. He wants you to have the most positive outcome. He was very clear on how responsible the patient was for their after care. In fact, he stated that he would not do surgery on a patient if they did not attend support group. Dr. Broussard was very explanatory about the different types of surgeries that he performs and the risks and complications. He explained everything in a \"matter of fact\" fashion. No hidden agenda. In fact, the cost of the surgeries were reduced for cash paying customers. I would rate Dr. Broussard a (9) on a scale from 0-10. This is based on the educational speech that I attended. Both competence and bedside manner are important to me as a patient. I am looking forward to my first doctor's appointment to visit with him about my personal needs for this surgery.
I was very impressed by Dr. Broussard. He had a very straight forward way of presenting the information, and seemed very knowledgable about the various bariatric procedures. He seems very compassionate and spoke very warmly of his former patients. rnrnHe gave a good overview of the procedures available, and what his program structure was. He let you know what the risks were, what the hospital stay would be like, and he also outlined those things that wouldn't change. People may think this is a cure all procedure, but Dr. Broussard made you see that the surgery is just part of the program and that it will only be as successful as the patient makes it. He can perform the surgery, but the individual has to make it work. That was the first time I heard a doctor say, he could perform the surgery but it takes a combined effort for weight loss, and maintaining that weight loss, to be successful.rnrnHe was more than willing to sit down after the seminar with individuals who had questions. And I found it amazing that he led the seminar himself. I attended a class on my local program and I only saw the doctor by video, and at that he wasn't the actual surgeon. It meant a lot to me that he took the time himself. rnrnI also liked the fact that he \"cherry picks\" his patients and is proud of it. He seems to be as dedicated to my success as I am.rnrnHe was very direct about what his expectations were regarding my effort both before and after surgery. He stressed the need for follow-up visits and support groups. His concern in this area made it feel like this wasn't a \"surgery mill\".rn rnI want a doctor who knows his stuff, but at the same time, I also want that doctor to see me as a person not just a patient. I felt Dr. Broussard was just that type of doctor. He left you with the feeling that he would be just as disappointed as you if the surgery and the subsequent weight loss was not successful. That meant a lot.
