Arkansas Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Center
I met Dr. Gibbs at the seminar at Baptist Hospital a few weeks ago. He seemed genuinely down to earth, and his nurse Ashley is great! I am anxious about my office visit with him, which is scheduled on June 18th. I'll keep you posted! =)
I can honestly say I was nervous about meeting Dr.Gibbs but he made me feel comfortable and didn't make me feel like a failure or that i was just lazy. I left his office with excitement and hope. His staff has been helpful every time i have called with a question. As far as his surgical competence I feel like i was in good hands and I didn't go into it blind he went over all of the risks involved as for me Iam glad to have chosen him and my experience so far has been good.
Preop consultation: my appt was at 7:30am and Dr didnt show up til 8:15am. I wasnt too happy about that.
Surgery day: Scheduled for 12pm and Dr ran into an emergency situation and my surgery was postponed til 3pm. I didnt even see Dr Gibbs, as soon as he got to the hospital, I was sent back to the OR room and was out. After surgery, Dr Gibbs went out of town til Tues.
Dr Gibbs had a Dr on call who came to see me Saturday and Sunday. Then another Dr on Monday. Tues came, Dr Gibbs was supposed to come see me. His nurse, Ashley called me and said that the Dr normally does late afternoon rounds, I said that would be perfect as far as discharge because my ride was at work til 5pm. 8pm came, 9pm came, No Dr Gibbs. So I decided to go to bed. Wednesday morning, I received a call from Ashley again who kept apologizing for Dr Gibbs not coming to see me and didnt want me to feel like I had been forgotten about. Believe me, that's exactly how I feel. I did not have a Dr come check on me for 48 hours. The hospital has a policy that a Dr has to see you every 24 hours. Ashley said that they were going to go ahead and discharge me and send me to a dermatologist for the burn/blister mess I had developed on my back.
I was pretty upset that Dr Gibbs did not come to see me. I still have no idea to the reason why he didnt. Did he forget about me?????
he is very straight forward. i went to a seminar at baptist hospital he gave us lots and lots of information about the surgery and aftercare and diet afterward. His nurse is Ashley she is very helpful. if you cannot fit the seminar into your schedule Ashley said you could make an appointment at the office. depending on his schedule it could be a few weeks. he tells you straight up that aftercare is the is the large part of the key. the pouch can and will stretch overtime if you eat to much. he also said over and over if you eat the wrong thing hi sugar, hi fat, you will not get the results that you wanted, and it will make you sick. aftercare is offered he mentioned yearly lab work. he went over the risk of surgery, from glory to death. this is my personal impressions and views, everyones may differ, and probably will
9/7/01- Ihave only good to say about Dr. Gibbs and his staff! They did an excellent job with the surgery as well as follow up. Ashley, Dr. Gibbs' nurse, came by to visit me the day after the surgery in the hospital, and then later that afternoon returned again with Dr. Gibbs to check on me. We have had a few questions since we have been home, and Ashley is very prompt about calling us back and answering any of our questions. They are a great team, that I would recommend to anyone!!
