The Kane Center Bariatric Center
I do not think that it was Dr. Rantis alone that made the surgery such a success. Dr. Rantis is a part of a group of surgeons from the Suburban Surgical Care Specialists, S.C. I worked with many of the wonderful staff at the Kane Center who walked me through the entire process from start to finish. Before you are even seen for a consultation you must first go to a seminar explaining bariatric surgery. You are given so much info at the meeting it is amazing. They cover all the bases, you even get to hear stories from people who have had the surgery. Surgeons come and talk to the group and give you power points. They give you all the information so you can make a informative descion to what surgery is best for you. After the seminar, the Kane Center was ther for everything. Questions, concerns, insurance problems. They really made me feel at ease with the whol proccess (like I was not forgetting to do anything). They have been through it so many times yet they made me feel like my sitution and I mattered to them. I would recommend the Kane Center to anyone looking into Bariatric Surgery.
I have know Dr. Kane Jr and also his dad, I chose Dr. Kane Jr because 9 years ago he and his dad performed a gastroplasty on me, so I felt that only he would know what to do once he got inside my stomach. He has a great bedside manner and I feel is a real caring and compassionate surgeon. His associate that assisted him in the surgery, Dr. Wallace was nice also. But I feel is still learning. I feel that the office has expanded almost too much. Alot of times I was on hold for a long time, although I have to say, when I had questions for the nurse, the message was relayed rather quickly and I was called back within a couple of hours!! Now that's impressive.!!!
Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!
When I first met Dr. Rantis, I was a little unsure, because he was very, very serious and I tend to joke around a lot. Now that I have been through surgery, I think he is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was so nice to me during my surgery and held my hand and told me to think of nice things until they put me to sleep. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is considering bariatric surgery. I had tried the bariatric program and the University of IL first, but they were very cold and impersonal. The group at New Self Bariatrics in Elk Grove are very kind, and easy to work with, and my stay at St. Alexius Hospital was excellent.
I did not have weight loss surgery. My colon ruptured and it just so happened that Dr. Kane Jr. performed my emergency surgery. One word: wonderful. He is absolutely fantastic to talk to and cares a lot about his patients. In addition, it is easy to see that he is very knowledgable about his discipline. However, there was one thing that I had an issue with: his office is so busy that you often wait for a long period of time before seeing him. Anyhow, I would recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Guske will always hold a special place in my heart, he was soooo caring, understanding and ecouraging for both my husband and I. This is the first time in my life that I don't mind having to go in for my monthly weigh ins. He always has many good words to say, and loads of encouragement. I don't mean to sound cliche' but he indeed save both of our lives. I never had a doubt that I found the perfect surgeon, and was calm right up to the moment of surgery. If I lived closer to his office, I would volunteer to work for him and help him continue to help others as he helped us both. I highly recommend Dr. Guske to anyone who is thinking about this surgery. He came highly recommended by my MD who is also someone who holds a dear place in our hearts. I am so lucky to have found two awesome medical providers!!!!
Loved him. I did a lot of research on my own so he only covered the stuff he had to cover as well as answer the few questions I had. He was very approachable and friendly and put me at ease. My interactions with him were so positive that I'm more excited than before. His office staff is pretty good as well. They're very friendly and helpful.
I first saw Dr. Kane Jr. in a large meeting where he explained everything you ever wanted to know about the operation and the aftercare. The thing that impressed me the most was that Dr. Kane Jr., after this 3 hour seminar, then stayed until every single question was answered by anyone that wanted to stay. rnrnDr. Kane's staff is wonderful. They are willing to go out of their way for their patients. rnrnOverall, I do not think there is a better staff to do this operation. All the doctors involved are great with both their skills and bedside manner.
I had my surgery done back in Elk Grove Village, IL. by Dr. Rantis. He was wonderful right from the start!! Extremely informative, very witty!! His office staff was great. He had two offices, I went to both, always got in fast, and staff very friendly. They have a very supportive aftercare program that you can stay with for lif, but unfortunantly I moved soon after and can't seem to find that here!
