Emerson Hospital Center for Weight Loss Bariatric Center
This man has made me feel so comfortable. He has an awesome way that he handles his patients. His drawing ability does need some work.....Just kidding......
Eileen in the office...This woman is amazing!! She is the most effiecient, overworked miracle worker in the world. I Love her for all that she did for me.......
Dr. Lautz is a soft spoken man. He appears to be very nice and I really feel confident in his ability by researching him. Eileen at first when I made the appointment over the phone seemed to be very abrupt and cold. When I went into the office she was very busy multi-tasking so, I guess she was just trying to get to the point over the phone. She appears nice in person. He emphazises aftercare and they have a structured aftercare program. He was very frank about the risk of the bypass surgery. He even told me he lost one person that they expired the next day from what appeared to be a blood clot. I rate Dr Lautz as a 8. Surgical competence is the most important with bedside manner coming 2nd.
Dr Lautz and everyone appears to be very competent. Was very knowledgable about the 3 different surgeries that I was contemplating. My impression (upon one meeting) hasn't changed. Dr Lautz' staff is great. Eileen is a hoot... but she tempers her humor with amazing efficiency.
All members of his staff emphasized aftercare and "group support". I am currently on line to find closer support groups to ensure that I maintain that connection.
All health care professionals quote the current mortality rates and risk factors as bible.... I don't know if it's a legal thing... but I can't get them to cut me odds.
If you were a great Dr... I wouldn't care if you had the personality of a corps.
Fortunately, it looks as if Dr. Lautz has the know how and a good bedside manner.
DR. LAUTZ OF THE BRIGHAM & WOMENS HOSPITAL WAS A VERY KIND DOCTOR. HE SEEMED UNDERSTANDING AND VERY MUCH INTERESTED IN HOW I FELT. DR. LAUTZ EXPLAINED THE PROCEDURES TO ME IN GREAT DETAIL. I HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD WORDS FOR DR. LAUTZ.
Dr. Lautz was wonderful! He and his office woman Eileen were phenomenal in getting all of my appointments made the same day so I didn't have to travel. The surgery went well, I was very confident in his abilities.
He was very professional, kinda laid back, but patient with all my questions. My impression only got better over time. The office staff was considerate and attentive. He is very good. Aftercare is very important and he encourages follow up with all his staff and associates from nutition etc. Not really a structured aftercare program but definitely available for contact by phone. he went into great depth with the risks. rating overall is superb. His surgical competence seems super and his bedside manner is gentle and concerning so I would say both. The only thing negative is at the doctors appointments he always tends to be running late late late. but I found out that htat is probbaly because he is spending the time in the office talking and going over things like he did with me and not rushing to get out of the room.
When I first met him in May of 2003, my first impression was embarrasesment for myself weighing in at 421 and 1/2 pounds. standing on a floor sized (dog type) scale was humiliating to myself. Seeing him put me at total ease. In fact I "love "this man.
I had asked him why he did this surgery seeing his business card read "oncology", and when I questioned him about it his response was the fact that he had seen a lot of death with cancer and that now he could give "life"back to his patients. I knew in my heart he was the one for me. He totally put me at ease and after leaving there that day I had the surgery date booked for Oct 28 of 2003.His office staff both professional and "funny". I'm the type that "says it like it is" so we get along great. He told me the risks involved and ys I was scared but here I am today weighing 165 pounds lighter and feel great!! His bedside manner is also great, allthough he's a very quiet man and I guess if I had to complain about anything it would be his appearance in visiting after surgery in the room. But overall I did not have any problems going into surgery or after and I was at total ease.
My first impression of Dr. Lautz was that he was a very caring, compassionate surgeon. He took the time needed to explain everything in detail and most important LISTENED to me. His office staff has been remarkable. I love the PA's and the secretary. They were all so helpful in my journey to get here. Actually is wasnt even a journey. I met him and boom everything was all set with a date before I left his office. No insurance problems for me. I was approved right away. Anyone in MA considering this surgery should check out he Brigham & Womans hospital and I highly recommend Dr. LAUTZ over anyone. The B&W has a structed support group, nutritionist, and office visits lined up to ensure my safe journey after the surgery. Dr. Lautz was extremely explanatory in the risk and dangers of this surgery. He informed me of every thing and answered all my questions. I would rate Dr. Lautz on a scale of 1 to 10 as a BIG 10. To me the most important thing in a surgeon is the expertise, their knowledge and their bedside manner. I want to feel as though the doctor is really listening to ME when I speak. Dr. Lautz IS THAT DOCTOR!!
