Emerson Hospital Center for Weight Loss Bariatric Center
I went with my boyfriend for his first appointment with Dr. Lautz yesterday. Important thing to say right away is be prepared to wait! We waited about an hour and 15 minutes before we went in to the exam room only to wait for another 20 minutes before seeing Marybeth? She told us about the risks of surgery and answered any questions we had. Then Dr. Lautz came in. He was pretty quiet and personally I felt he was a little socially akward. He was really busy and overbooked for the day and still had to get down to the OR so maybe his mind was just on other things. He was only there a little while but answered our questions.rnrnThen we went to see Eileen. She is a riot. She is running in 8 different directions but gets everything done! She made his appointments and booked a surgery date April 27th 2009! Yay!!! rnrnAll of the staff were really nice and accomodating. I love how every aspect of the surgery is covered. I would reccommend him to anyone who is looking for a surgeon
I choose Doc Lautz in 2004 due to his experience with laproscopy surgery. Lapbands were new then and I knew I needed a qualified surgeon to do this new procedure.rnNow that I find my band with a leak, after having difficulties with the fill level and reflux etc. I have decided to have a conversion. Thank the Lord that I had choosen an experienced surgeon for he is also skilled capable to take the band out and give me the rny. Sad to say, I am not the first band to rny conversion. I will add..my band is perfectly placed per my upper GI.
My first impression of Dr. Lautz was that he was very competent and compassionate. My impression of him grew along with respect and admiration. He is one of the best surgeons and has the best personality I have ever met. Eileen is his secretary but more like his right arm (not hand). She is extremely efficient and friendly. There is nothing I do not like about him for he saved my life twice after a botched surgery on Cape Cod. He has had to operate on me 6 times due to the mess. Never once made me feel like I was bothering him or being a pain. I believe all are crucial to the healing process...surgical competence, bedside manner!!!!
I am a registered nurse and wanted a top notch physician. I researched physicians throughout the Massachusettes area and found Dr. Lautz to be the one to go to. He seems to be the guy that other patients with 'screw-up's' go to. He is a very busy man and devotes one day a week to research so I felt he stayed on the cutting edge of any new information out there on bariatric surgery. I also contacted the State Board of Medical Licensure to check his credentials and to see if he has any negative activity against him. This site is a wonderful tool to check out any physician prior to scheduling a visit. I met with Dr. Lautz for my first appt and he was very kind and patient with me. He is a busy busy man and I never once felt rushed when I sat down with him. He made sure I had all my questions answered and gave me his business card with his cell phone number in case I needed to ask more questions. Im looking forward to my surgery in August and feel extremely confident with who I have chosen.
I met with Dr. Lautz today for my consultation. He was incredible. I was a nervous wreck and an emotional mess but he was very \"matter of fact\" but also has a great personality and put me right at ease and most importantly let me know I was making the right decision. I would highly reccommend him to anyone who will listen and that was just the 1st impression. The only negative thing would be the waiting to get an appt and the waiting to get to see him- but once you do, you realize that the reason is because he literally takes the time to answer any of your questions and concerns and sits with you until you feel right.
Dr. Lautz is very low key, but also very receptive to answering questions and spending whatever time you need. I was a little dissapointed that I didn't see him after the surgery, at least I don't think I saw him after the surgery -- It's very possible that he did come in to my room, but I don't remember it! I feel that my care at Brigham & Womens was fantastic -- especially my nurse. It seemed that she spent most of her time in my room. She was extremely attentive and compassionate. I had no complications, but was closely monitored all the time. All of the doctors (except Dr. Lautz, maybe) that were on the team checked in with me regularly. The anesthesia was great - NO NAUSEA at all! Dr. Lautz's office is extremely well run - very busy, but efficient. I also attend the support groups, which I highly recommend. They are run by Natalie the nutritionist and Eileen from Dr. Lautz's office. Dr. Lautz sometimes attends also. All in all, I would highly recommend Dr. Lautz and Brigham & Womens.
Dr Lautz is a very Professional Surgeon, with the capacity to relate to his Patients, and really make them feel valued. rnDr Lautz was very sensitive to my concern for my 2 small children at home. When I asked him to be extra careful....He looked me straight in the eye's and said \" I hear you LOUD and CLEAR\" He totally won my ut-most trust and respect.rnDr. Lautz is also very humble, he was first to admit, a mistake made early in the process was the office's fault...again gaining more trust!!!rnThe office staff is AWESOME!!! Even with a mistake, the office was very effective in clearing the issue up, and very supportive during the process.rnSorry, I have not a negative comment about Dr. Lautz!!!!!
My first impersion Dr. Lautz very soft spoken and very educational about the different produces. Staff is was excellent Eillen was great even though called her every day. I would refer them to anybody who was considering weight loss surgery in Boston area.
