Southwest Bariatric Surgeons PLLC Bariatric Center
Dr. Acheson was friendly and welcoming, he made me feel important. His office staff were kind and professional, quick to return phone calls and patiently explain my status to me even if it hadn't changed. I think the integrated care I received between his office and the hospital made a huge improvement on an otherwise very scary decision, I felt completely at ease the day of my surgery. I never once felt out of the loop and I think I received every tool and bit of information possible to help me. I would, without a doubt, recommend Dr. Acheson and his team.

I had my VSG on 9-13-11 by Dr. Fass. He is an amazing surgeon & he is so caring. He put me at ease during my entire process. This man changed my life forever.
I am for making my surgery (sleeve). I had another doctor at the beginning of this process but she is not longer work at the clinic. So I needed to choose another doctor from the list. One of the girls at the clinic asked me if I had some one else in mind to go and talk to and I said no. I believe Dr. Fass was the one available for my next appoinment that's why the saff in charge chose Dr. Fass for me.
The day of my appointment I felt a little confused. I really didn't know now what procedure to choose from to lose my weight.
Dr. Fass said just a few words ... If one of my loved ones ask me that would be the best surgery to loose weight, I would tell them that the Sleeve is the best. He did not say that this was the best for me, but I felt that he was very confident with his procedure and the results.
He made me feel safe and confident to do this surgery.
I left that room with the security that was the best procedure for me and that I'll be in good hands.

After reading all the posts about surgeons who are just in it for the money, I can assure you, Dr. Faulkenberry is not one of those surgeons. He has a great bedside manner and for my 8 week post-op visit it genuinely seemed he cares about my progress. He never rushes me out of an appt and lets me ask all the questions I have. He's been a great surgeon to me (RNY) and my husband (VSG). I would recommend Dr. Faulkenberry to anyone looking to have WLS who wants a knowledgable, thorough, and supportive surgeon who will be there for you pre-op as well as post-op. I really feel I made the best choice in choosing Dr. Faulkenberry.

Hospital/Surgical Review- I feel that Dr. Faulkenberry's staff completely prepared me for this surgery. I was given all the information necessary to follow both pre-op and post op diets. The day before surgery I was given an MRSA test, which was positive. The day of surgery every precaution was taken to protect me from infection, nausea, etc. After surgery I was held in ICU overnight for precaution because of my high risk status (high BMI, sleep apnea, hypertension). I wholly felt well taken care of by Dr. Faulkenberry. I did not expect to see him more than once a day while in the hospital, but I saw him several times, as well as his partner and the hospitalist. I also had an assigned person to keep track of me throughout the hospital visit and for 3 weeks afterwards. My surgeon made sure that I had everything I needed in the hospital. Dr. Faulkenberry does not do surgery to do surgery--he truly believes in his patients and is in it for the long haul. His care does not end once you leave the hospital. Highly recommend.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Faulkenberry and the staff at Southwest Bariatric. Each patient is assigned a Patient Advocate who helps navigate the medical maze and keeps you on track. Every step is outlined clearly. They are all as nice as you could wish for. Since I have to travel several hours to get to Austin, they've really accomodated me with that.
Dr. Faulkenberry's office is in a busy area of Austin. It was a little difficult to find and parking wasn't ideal, but with a drop off area at the front doors, we did okay. The exam tables in the office are bariatric friendly and ADA accessible.
I will update this after my next visit to the office.

Am i the only one with a bad experience with this doctor? I have lost a year with her, before i changed doctors, and he found the leaking port on my first visit. Was the first thing he checked, just a simple test. She never listened to me, telling her that I had never gotten to the RIGHT fit, that it was like nothing was done. Why didn't that tell her something? And by the way, not one doctor there in Round Rock would take me as a patient after what she put on her report.
I feel they all owe me an apology which i will never get, but at least i now have a great doctor.
BTW, getting the port replaced on 5-25-11, a year later. Have had NO weight loss, but,,,NO gain either!!!
very professional, efficient.
I had meet Dr. Marquez in Dec. of 2010 and she had informed me that I need to start working out again, I had told her that I belong to a gym but was to busy at work to go and to tired afterwards. She mention that I need to do it for myself, and I did. I needed that kick, and she explained where the incision would be and how it was going to change and what ws expected afterwards. Dr. Marquez also had mention about some of the issues that people think that this is the answer and that people mange to gain weight also with it down the road and that just need to stay on track and that most success is with a support group. She is very throughly and covers alot with you. I'm very pleased to have had her do the surgery last week and I would like to say Thank you to her and the stuff at the office and to all the nurses and everyone that was involved in the surgical room.!!!!
I would highly recommend Dr. Nancy Marquez to help you begin a new LIFE !!!
After spending thousands of dollars and several years trying to lose weight, I decided to have weight loss surgery. The weight loss “roller coaster” needed to end. My doctor referred me to Dr. Marquez and I was convinced at my first visit that I made the right choice. She's sweet yet she has a no non-sense approach to WLS. Everyone in the office was so nice and honestly ready to help me with my weight loss journey.
Dr.Marquez made sure I knew what I was doing and gave me the brass tacks of WLS and all the things I should consider. I felt very comfortable knowing she would be the one doing my gastric-bypass. She runs a tight ship. She shows up when she's suppose to and is very energetic.I received so much support and guidance that it made my weight loss surgery seem so easy. As I write this I am 6 days post-op and am feeling better everyday. When I started this journey I was 345lbs and today I weigh 295lbs! I feel the weight just fall off me and am excited to be getting my life back. I should have never waited this long but, better now then never! See Dr. Marquez I just know your going to love her!
