Baylor Scott & White Weight Loss Surgery Program Bariatric Center
Dr. Rodriguez seemed to be a caring and concerned surgeon. He went to great lengths to explain the risks involved and to emphasize that this is not an easy thing to go through. He also explained that for this to be a long term solution, aftercare is absolutely the most important part of the process. S & W has an excellent staff and provides a very structured aftercare program. I believe that Dr. Rodriguez who is extremely competent and he seems like he would have an excellent bedside manner.
Dr. Provost was terrific as was all of his staff. He went over the procedure and answered what little questions I had and his staff did the same.
My first impression of Dr. Rodriguez was that he was kinda quiet, but I really liked him a lot. He seems like a genuinely caring doctor. Well after seeing him a couple more times, he is a wonderful surgeon. I do believe he really cares about his patients. He did make certain that I knew all of the risks of the surgery and that it was a major surgery and something to think about. He also emphasizes that you need to commit an hour to your self everyday for exercise. I would recommend him for this surgery any day.
I was impressed with his mannerisms and his personality. His office staff is helpful and friendly and very informed of bariatric surgery. His staff consists of a nutritionist that will go over you diet after surgery, a very helpful bariatric nurse, informative insurance specialist who knows all the insurance guidelines and he also is very insistant that his patients use the support groups. In all I was very impressed with his protocol. I hope his sugical skills are as precise!
He went over a few of the risk of this surgery , I hope he will go into more detail once we have a definite date set.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. RODRIGUEZ WAS THAT HE LOOKED VERY YOUNG (and nothing like the picture hanging in his office). He was a bit late, ok, "A LOT LATE" but explained that since he's so informative and takes that extra time to make his patients fully understand what's going on is why he often fall a little behind schedule. His staff is excellent as far as getting information out to the patient, calling for appt. reminders, etc. Dr. Rodriguez was very straight forward about his feelings of WLS. He stressed that the outcome will be judged in one year..not on day 2 following surgery when you're feeling like @#$% and second guessing yourself. He let's you know that the road is not going to be easy, but with a open mind and following his strict but fair after-care program, you will be rewarded 110%. Both his bedside manner and surgical competence, overall, was GREAT!
The worst thing about Dr. Provost is the wait. He is already booked for consult appointments through May of 2004! But with that being said, HE IS WORTH THE WAIT!!!! Dr. David Provost is the best! He is a very kind and caring man who makes you feel very comfortable. He is very patient and makes sure that you understand what’s up and if not he doesn't act put out to go over it again with you. He doesn't really look his patients in the eye a lot but I already knew that so it didn't bother me at all. I know a few people who have used him and they couldn't say enough about him so I have felt great about choosing him since the very beginning! Also, as an ironic twist, my mom realized that she and my dad know him too. They go to the same church together! They have just always known him as David so we never made the connection. I had actually met his wife and talked with her a few times and didn’t even know it!! Talk about a small world!!!
