Baylor Scott & White Weight Loss Surgery Program Bariatric Center
I just met my surgeon yesterday at Pre-op. He seemed to be a very nice guy. He went over what was going to happen and made sure that I did not have any questions. He complemented me on my current weight loss and my attitude about everything. His staff was nice. His admin person always tried to find out the answer for me, her name was Penny. She was very polite and no matter what questions I had she would try to get the answer and call me back or make sure someone called me. Also Ms. Paulette is straight to the point. She said this is not time to play games but she also is nice especailly if you do what is suppose to be done and show that you are serious. She gives it to you straight. The business office was a little slow but I finally got everything done and I made sure i kept track of everything.
Dr David Provost came highly recommended. I had problems last August when surgery was attempted by another surgeon. Two surgeons told me to go see Dr Provost. He was going to be doing an Open RNY, but due to complications from previous surgeries, he did a biliopancreatic diversion. This is very similar to a DS. It's in the same family of surgeries. This was performed at Presby in Denton.

I liked him and his staff. He had just ended his term at Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas to start his own practice in Denton. It is a brand new practice and they are getting things setup. I had investegated him from 2001 on because a friend had his gastric by pass than with Dr.Provost. I had my first appointment with him on Sept 1, 2008, my preop consultation on Sept. 9, and my surgery on Sept. 11, 2008 and my post op visit on Sept,22! It has been a very busy 22 days for me!

Doctor Provost saved my life. ReallyrnrnNot just because I was fat. I had some major stomach problems and he was the only doctor in the DALLAS/FORT WORTH area that would take my case. If he had not done the surgery when he did I would not be here today. This man is awesome. I now have a life I am looking forward to each and every day. rnTHANK YOU DOCTOR DAVID PROVOSTrn

Dr. Provost was nice when we first met. One thing I didn't like was I only saw him once and that was over 6-7 months ago. I'm going to have surgery in a few days and I have yet to see and talk to him since then. I guess that's how they run things. His office has several other doctors working in it as well so you build a relationship more with a regular general doctor and the nurses and assistants more than Dr. Provost himself. They are all nice in the office everything is \"fat friendly\". All the dietians and nutritionist are very thin! Most of them wear 6 inch heels...and it feels weird that they talk to you about eating healthy when your fat and they aren't. But they are nice and don't judge at all. He does require all patients to see a nutritionist at the beginning and if your insurance requires you to do any weight management then you will have to do that but they make it real easy. If you gain some weight during your pre-op stuff they don't get mad. They do make sure all paperwork is in order and they do keep in touch with you. The only thing I have to say is be sure to know your insurance...call them and see in advance if you will need any copays or anything like that upfront. Because I came into a snag where they assumed I knew and never mentioned anything about a copay during my whole 6 months doing all the pre-op stuff and now just a few days ago they call me up telling me I need to pay over a 1,000 bucks. Needless to say I did get it paid and worked out but, heed my warning though. That's all I really have to say about Provost and his staff for right now..I'll post more after my surgery and when I get home.

First Impression: Very informative, and seemed to generally care about my needs and concerns. My impression stayed the same he was very considerate of my feelings and took excellent care of my during my hospital stay. His office staff can best be described as WONDERFUL!!! Everyone is so friendly and really know what they are talking about. Future patients should know hes a great doctor and very willing to answer any questions you might have... as long as you ask them. He has a very strict and straight forward aftercare program that is very affective. All surgery risks were addressed and explained in detail to me, and due to some health issues we still felt the surgery was needed. Overall I would rate him a 10 hes just great.
I was lucky enough to work for Dr. Provost for a few months off and on in his clinic. I was able to see the good the bad and the ugly walk through his door so when I decided to have surgery, it was a no brainer. He tells every patient he has and I quote, \"If you do exactly as I say, you will succeed and if you don't you will fail.\" He is more of a fatherly figure in that he is honest, straight forward and wants the best for his patient and will fuss at you if you don't follow directions. Granted his patient load is high, but what you expect? He is one of the best! He works with a group of about 3-4 other doctors who are actually all equally good but I chose Provost because that is who I was most comfortable with and I don't regret a thing! Best to all seeking surgery!

During my interview with my surgeon last week concerning my RYN on January 15, 2008, he revealed to me that he was the one who performed my gallbladder removal surgery back in 2000. To tell you the truth, I really had no idea back then who did it, but I do know that the operation was a complete success with no complications whatsoever. Therefore, I was elated to know that the same surgeon was going to do my RYN. It has definitely given me a whole new world of confidence. And I know that it will go successfully \"without a hitch\"!
