It has been a year now since my surgery. I have been remiss in completing information for this page, due to a busy schedule. Now I see how important this website has been to both my husband and myself, and I am ready to \"Spread the news\". rnI would like to start by saying that I am an Emergency Department Registered Nurse with 29 years ED experience. (Yes, that makes me \"old!\") With that said, I can tell you that my husband and I researched Bariatric Surgery in our area for two years before Dr. Lord came to Sacred Heart. Up until that time, we thought it was just not meant for us to have this surgery. We heard about Dr. Lord and attended his seminar in the spring of 2005 and that was it! We were so impressed with his presentation, his professional appearance and his caring nature that we were ready to have the surgery literally \"the next day!\" So, the process started, and we were on our way! We found the work-ups important, thorough and necessary for a safe surgery. We found the classes informative and encouraging. The support group meetings brought us together with others who were on the same journey and that commradery was most important and calming! I never had any reservations about Dr. Lord, but on the day of my husbands' surgery, I can tell you that when Dr. Lord walked into the pre-op room, smiled, shook my hand, and looked at my husband and said \"Let's do it!\" I had the most calming, feeling go through my body. It was as if I felt an angel in that room, and of course, it was all Dr. Lord. So strong was his presence, that I had an inner peace that I have never in my 29 years as an ED Nurse EVER experienced in the presence of a surgeon! That, my friends is incredible! I immediately knew that my husband was safe, and that Dr. Lord was meant to be the one doing his surgery. This was why we couldnt find \"that perfect surgeon!\" We were meant to meet Dr. Lord. Was this Divine intervention? I would most certainly say \"absolutely!\" I have always been one who \"looks from signs\" from God, and believe me, I found my sign when Dr. Lord walked into that pre-op room! rnI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Lord or any part of his program. There is simply nothing wrong from this \"old\" ED Nurses professional opinion. The aftercare program is both structured and informative. It is because of their aftercare program that we have been so successful! rnThank you Dr. Lord and your team! You have changed our lives in such a good way! As they say \"the proof is in the pudding\" Dana has lost 143 pounds and I have lost 106! I guess that speaks for itself that Dr. Lords program is by far...\"The Best!\" Follow his program and you will be successful!
My first impression of Dr. Lord was that he had a Napoleon Complex. As I thought about it, I decided that it was O.K. for my surgeon to have a Napoleon Complex. His confidence is well deserved. His surgery record is virtually spotless. I'm confident that with so many things that can and do go wrong with RNY WLS that Dr. Lord will do all to ensure my safety.
I have been blessed with being able to have Dr. Lord be the person who will perform my RNY Bypass. His experience and outward desire to help you have a better life is noteworthy. he truly cares about us and even assisted his own Mother to having the surgery which shows volumes to how he feels about bettering your life. I only pray that God's will continue to guide his hands during all of his surgeries. I have full trust and confidence in him performing my RNY Bypass and all of my aftercare. he has established one of the best teams to help and understand our needs. may God Bless Dr. Lord.
Dr. Lord is great! On my first appt. with him he asked a bunch of questions and was very sincere. He treats you like your someone. His staff is the same, they hold your hand all the way through the process. They help you out in any possible way they can. They are very knowlegable about what is going on and what will happen to you. I waited a long time to have this surgery, for the simple reason there was not a Dr. in this area that I would trust. I began to do a lot of research and learned that Dr. Lord came to Pensacola. It was the best decision I made to have the surgery. I debated between the Lap Band and Gastric Bypass. After talking to him and doing more research I decided Gastric Bypass is the best for me. Traci the nutritionist was very helpful. She knows her stuff. She lets you know just how to eat after surgery and listen to what she says, Because it is all very true. The Dr. and his staff let me know what risks were involved, But like I said before I trusted Dr. Lord and was ready for the life change i am going to see. Dr. Lord I believe is the most knowledgable you will find in this type of surgery. When I was in the hospital he would come see you every morning and night he would ask questions and actually listen to your answers and if you would ask questions his answers were very sincere. Before he left the room every time he always said keep drinking your fluids make sure you get them all in. So ovrall I would say this is the best place you can come to get prepared for your surgery you will know evrything there is to learn for you to take of yourself afterwards.
Dr Lord and his staff are wonderful. I fell like everyone in that office was my own personal cheerleader. They care and they are excited for you...with you. Sacred Heart Hospital has a bariatric ward. That means oversized chairs, beds, toilets wider doorways. I didn't feel uncomfortable anywhere from the ward to Dr. Lords office. Dr. Lord was straight to the point about what to expect or not expect but more importantly he wanted to know what I knew about my procedure and after-care to make sure i'd done my research...yes there was a test so be ready. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. That a few of his staff members are former patients of his meant a great deal to me too. Would you work for someone if they didn't care for you properly in the same condition?
Dr. Lord is efficient and is all about helping the obese IF THEY want to be helped! He makes that perfectly clear in his seminar. It will be his way because if we do what he says we will have the best results. I have not changed my mind since the first time I met him. He is a no-nonsense, very talented surgeon with a lapiscopic skill that challenges all! People should know that he wants the best for us. They should also know that if we do not do what he says, we might not have the best results. This doesn't make him happy because he likes success stories.rnrnWe were so educated before surgery that there is no excuse not to know every risk, everything for post-op care, and how to handle our needs. His staff is very efficient. He has a staff that cares and this is carried thoughout with the nursing during the hospital stay. EVERYONE cares. If I have a question - and I seem to have quiet a few questions even though they have gone over them before -they are always answering them with a smile. They will call back by the end of the day if need be.rnrnDr. Lord is a difinite 10! His staff is a 10!rnHe has a super bedside manner and his surgical competence is beyond soooooo many.
I first saw Dr. Lord at an informational meeting about WLS. He was well-spoken and very professional. I was impressed with his surgery statistics and with the entire Bariatric team. When I met him at my first appointment he seemed more soft-spoken and still very professional. Most important to me was the fact that he seemed very nonjudgmental about my weight. I didn't leave feeling like a failure, but with new hope. The office staff have all been friendly, professional and helpful. The program is very organized. My insurance approved my surgery the first time after my packet was submitted. Every member of the team encouraged me to call them any time I had questions or concerns. The monthly support group is not mandatory but helpful. The risks of surgery were well-defined in the initial packet and on the consent form. I was given the opportunity to review and to discuss the risks multiple times before surgery. I would rate the program 10/10 and have recommended Dr. Lord to several people since my surgery. Surgical competence and bedside manner were both great.
Dr. Lord is extremely confident and self-assured. He has THE best attitude and bedside manner. He is very through and encouraging. I felt very comfortable talking to him and the staff. In addition, education about the surgery before and after is of the utmost importance. I would recommend Dr. Lord to anyone considering the surgery.
My first impression of Dr. Lord was that he was a man confident in his abilities as a bariatric surgeon. The impression didn't change at all, it was only reinforced during my consultation and pre-op visits with him. He is very caring and empathetic, knows what to expect, and lets his patients know what they can expect. New patients should know that Dr. Lord knows what he's talking about and they can feel confident that he's giving them good advice. Sacred Heart has a good surgical weight loss program, a very good facility, and a great surgeon in Dr. Lord.
