I could not recommend a better Bariatric Surgeon. Dr. Lord did an excellent job on my surgery. He is an extremely competent Bariatric Surgeon.

Prior to starting with Dr. Lord's program at Sacred Heart, I had completed the entire process with another doctor - one whom I was never able to meet because he didn't "do" consultations with patients until it was time for surgery. I had surgery on my leg and was required to start over.
The second time around, I did my homework and decided that Dr. Lord, three hours away, was the best for me. He had the best qualifications, the best results, and the best team, all of which had been recognized as a Center of Excellence, and a reputation for the same.
I was able to do the paperwork online which eliminated the trips. It was all there - their process was easy to do from home. I was able to meet Dr. Lord within a couple of weeks of my appointment request and knew that he was the doctor that I was looking for.
When I started with the appointments, the staff went out of their way to schedule multiple appointments on the same day - one day I had five! The nurses on his staff were always available to answer the most mundane questions and always returned my calls with kindness and understanding.
Surgery was scheduled as soon as possible with his schedule and went as smoothly as the pre-surgical process had gone. I was up and walking in hours after I returned to my room. I went home with multiple pain meds, non of which I ever used.
I have had post-op appointments with the dietician, and two with other doctors on his team; this within the first six weeks. I have multiple appointments scheduled for continued follow-up which is important to me to know that I am doing well. The post-op seems to be as important as the pre-op.
In conclusion, I know I made the correct decision when chosing the Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center and Dr. Lord at its head. I was told that this would be the best decision I ever made for myself and I know that to be true.
I would unconditionally recommend Dr. Lord and his team for WL surgery.


August, 2014... Four months after the initial review...

I still feel that this was the best decision for me, and the best program for me. I have had zero complications and have, to date, list over 100 lbs.

Dr. Lord is awesome and changed my life in so many ways. I have lost about 180 pounds and my life is so much better! My only regret is that I waited so long to have the surgery. Thanks Dr. Lord!!

I am a 44 year old lady with many health issues. Dr. Lord went through my medical records and told me I was one of the sickest patients that he had ever seen. He also told me that if I did not have the gastric bypass, I would probably not be here in ten years. While that was hard to hear, I needed to hear it. I am glad that Dr. Lord was honest with me.
His seminar provided a lot of valuable information. I was really excited to meet him. I found him to be very confident in his ability. I also thought he had a wealth of knowledge. I felt very safe under his care. The day of my surgery, he came in and talked to my husband and me before I went into to the operation room. His staff was great!!
One thing that I really appreciated about his program was the classes that he requires you to take before having the surgery. I still have every handout and the booklet they was given to me. I go back and read them ever so often. I feel that I was well prepared before surgery as to what it would be like at the time of surgery and life afterwards. I have spoken with many people that have had the gastric bypass from different states. I have also discovered that not all had the classes like I had. Those patients that did not have the classes well have not done as well as I have done.
I just had my checkup with Dr. Lord and according to his scales I have lost 91 lbs in 6 1/2 months. I am very happy with my progress thus far. I firmly believe that Dr. Lord has a talent and a gift in the area of weight loss surgery. He is one of the best!!! Well really the best in my book! I tell everyone about him. Everywhere I go I talk to someone about this surgery and how it and Dr. Lord has changed my life!
I thank God above for allowing me to be successful and getting through this surgery. I also thank God for allowing me to meet and become a patient of Dr. Lord's.
Dr. Lord is the kind of person that tells it just like it is. I trust him competely. When a doctor tells you to check him out that says something about him. I honestly would recommend him to anyone!
Gastric bypass surgery is a serious operation and one thing for sure you better know your doctor. You should feel comfortable and safe under their care. Thast is how I felt about Dr. Lord. The surgery is a TOOL not a fix all!!! You have to do your part and follow the rules comepetely. When I had questions, his office staff, his asst. and Dr. Lord has answered them in t timely manner. His staff is the best in the business. The Scared Heart Hospital is top notch. I would never want to go any other place. They have a whole floor dedicated to just weight loss surgery patients. They know what they are doing!
I wish you the best of luck in your journey. My journey is still in the beginning stages and it will continue for the rest of my life. You have to look at this surgery as a new beginning and make the changes and never go back to what you used to do. If you do you will regain it all back like some of my friends have in other states. This is why I feel that Dr. Lord's program is the best because he prepares you for what is ahead of you for the rest of your life. Good luck! God bless you along the way. I thought that my surgeon was a wonderful surgeon and so did he. He is very rude and was not interested in the problems I had postoperative. I had the Gastric Bypass done a little over a year ago. I had problems with cramping and diarrhea almost constantly. I lost 110 lbs but I only wanted to lose about 80. I could not eat or drink and I felt that he was totally indifferent and told me to "figure it out". I would not recommend a Doctor who treats his patients this way and is so arrogant.

I don't feel that all the complications that I experienced should have been a total surprise.

The weight loss program that the surgeon has is a good one. I think that he is an excellent surgeon but his bedside manner is way off the mark.

His office staff is wonderful and the Director of the Weight Loss Program did her very best for me. Some suggestions about what to do would have been greatly appreciated.

I have enjoyed every visit to Dr. Lord's office for check-ups, and classes. Everyone in the office is friendly and fun to be with.

The staff at Sacred Heart Hospital's Surgical Weight Loss in Pensacola, Florida has been absolutely flawless. I went through OTHER programs that botched my insurance paperwork and caused me to almost give up. I then moved to Florida for a new job and thought I'd try one last time with one more group. I had been trying for 6 years to get approved for gastric bypass surgery through insurance, and Dr. Lord and his staff got it approved quickly and efficiently. I have them to thank for giving me hope for the first time in 20 years!

Dr. Lord is one of the very best. Do your research when choosing a doc. If you have to drive a ways...it will be worth it. You want a good doc!! Dr. Lord has an awesome assistant, Mark...he does most of the adjustments. Mark is the bomb and he really makes an effort to get to know you.

I had my first appointment to begin my weight loss journey this week, 5-25-2010.

Dr. Lord conveys confidence, caring and competence. His experience in the procedure I have chosen, RNY, is incomparable. I had no doubt before I met with him and left the meeting truly confirmed that I made the correct choice. I am excited about taking my weight loss journey with him and his staff! Every person that works in his office is wonderful!

I would never have considered this surgery until Dr. Lord came to town. I work at the hospital where he practices and have seen how he treats his patients. He is the most attentive surgeon with whom I have ever worked. My impression of him has not changed over the years, but I have not had my surgery yet either. His office has been efficient considering all the insurance hoops and they were instrumental in having my surgery date moved up. They provide excellent information and support. He and his staff provide statistics for the risks nationwide and under his care (which are considerably lower). Dr. Lord does mostly lap RNY and lap band for weight loss. He is a technicaly excellent surgeon with a great bedside manner. Most importantly he is a patient advocate. He is all the time calling the nurses to check on his patients and doing things for them that they never know about. He and his office work hard to do what is best for their patients. He rates above any other surgeon I have worked with or been under the care of because of his high standards of care.
